I think anybody with 2 eyes saw that. I was impressed Bama even tried to run into that set but even more so that they were able to do so. You guys can talk about the linebackers or whatever, but when you put 8 and 9 in the box and the other team runs at will, you aren't ever going to win. The Cotton Bowl was the same way really. OU lacked the size up front to keep A&M from running at will without walking up the safeties. But they couldn't do that without leaving guys on an island in coverage. It's really hard to scheme against insanely good line talent.

Luke Joeckel is going pro. Jake Matthews is supposedly staying.

Most noteworthy to me is Vanderbilt moving into the final rankings. I think this is the first time they've been ranked all year and they haven't been ranked in the final poll since 1948. James Franklin doing work.

One helluva good coach. He's passed up other jobs as well to stay there. He's going to have his choice of jobs when he does decide to leave. Truly incredible what he's doing there, considering the school and league.

I think he's going to be their Harbaugh in the end. Harbaugh really showed the blueprint about how to recruit and sell a top end school. You go national and sell your degree to kids, not the NFL. Too often the schools aren't selling the value of the education but that was a huge reason Andrew Luck ended up at Stanford.

Always wondered why a team like Stanford doesn't get every single kid they recruit. I mean its ####### Stanford!

They get the vast majority of them. The big problem is getting kids through admissions. Once they are admitted, it is somewhat rare for Stanford to lose out on a player.

They don't get a ton of these. With all due respect to Mssrs. Namath and Stabler, (neither of whom I'm old enough to have seen play in college), I think McCarron is probably the best QB you guys have ever had.

Agree...but it's changing some. The 5th ranked QB in the 13 class is signed. It also changing at WR. Signed the #2 two years in a row.

He transferred, but Alabama also signed Phillip Sims, 5-star #2 (Scout) QB in the country in 2010.You guys are getting a good one in Cooper Bateman.

I can always tell how a Bama game is going to go based on our first 2 or 3 carries. When we come out and start knocking down 5-7 yards on every attempt right from the start, I know the game is over already. If you can't stop Bama in the first quarter, there is no way you will stop them in the 4th.

I hope so. Our backup QB this year was a running QB with very minimal passing skills, imo. Very fortunate that McCarron stayed on two feet all year.

Whenever a QB can get 3 years of experience at college QB I think they should, and judging recent drafts it seems most do. Obviously there are exceptions, but it's not a given either of those declare and there are just as many questions about others as there are Tahj.

He played well in the FSU game though he had an INT to go with his 3 (or 4) TDs. I'm struggling to see how he's ANYTHING like Tebow when it comes to passing.

Probably the most impressive game I've seen out of him too. Most of the time he is just throwing all over teams with awful defenses during the season and it makes it hard to tell his quality. I was just looking at some stats and he is 32/71 for only 339 yards and 2 touchdowns (3 ints) in his combined 3 games against South Carolina. Didn't realize it was that poor.

What does any of that have to do with him as a prospect?Tim Tebow in 2009 finished with highest passer rating in the country (164.17). In 2008, he finished with the 4th highest QB rating at 172.4. In 2007, he had the 2nd highest QB rating at 172.5.

Tim Tebow is a horrible passing QB.

sorry...."and" above should be "but". I'm not sure this gives the story either, certainly the ranking in the country. The talent pools each were going against are completely different. I look at Boyd's ability to get the ball vertical with regular success among other things. They're just different types of QB in my mind. Perhaps the completion percentages from 0-10, 11-15, 16-20, 21+ would help?? Not sure.

A lot of people posting here that are either Gamecock fans or haven't watched much of Boyd this year. I understand dogging him before this year, but the guy under center this year was much, MUCH improved. Completely different QB.
