**Official** 2015 Washington Redskins Thread YOU LIKE THAT! (2 Viewers)

Tyrod kind of scares me. IIRC Cam didn't kill us with his improv/moving around the pocket (didn't have to really) but figure we'll flush Ty out of the pocket due to Buf's shoddy/injured O line.

And McCoy, oof, that guys been ####### killing us for years!

One week after extending their winning streak against the Chicago Bears to six games dating back to 2004, the Washington Redskins will look to snap a six-game skid against the Buffalo Bills that spans 22 years, four venues, two stadium name changes and two countries.

Buffalo has owned Washington since Mark Rypien led the Redskins to a 37-24 win over the Bills in Super Bowl XXVI. Six games matches the Redskins’ longest active losing streak against any team. (Washington has lost six straight to the Chiefs since 1992 and last beat Kansas City in 1983.)

To be fair, we've lost to just about everyone within this timespan. :P

:lmao:

Former NFL running back Clinton Portis has owed a lot of people a lot of money for some time now, and according to bankruptcy filings, the exact amount that he owes to various creditors is $4,857,659.50.

The filing lists the creditors holding the 20 largest unsecured claims against Porits. Some of the more notable debts:

  • $500,000 to Entertainment Tonight correspondent and CNN contributor Nischelle Turner
  • $390,000 in back taxes
  • $170,000 to the Borgata casino in Atlantic City
  • $287,178.56 to the MGM Grand
  • A combined $1,223,020 in mortgage deficiencies
  • $500,000 to his mother
  • $412,000 in unpaid domestic support to four different women
  • $65,553 on a repossessed BMW
  • $899.09 in unpaid telephone bills
The filings also include Portis’s average monthly income. He receives $3,500 per month in disability payments from the NFL, and $1,000 per month for freelance sideline reporting at NFL games.

Don't forget 18,000 to Ifeanyi Ohalete for his jersey number.

CP is one of my all time favorites. That's a sad situation.

McCoy's Super Bowl was last week. I think he's going to be checked out the rest of the season.

That's harsh.

I hate negotiating during the season. Especially at QB. Let him stay focused, and let's see how he finishes.
Agreed. There are 3 consecutive big games now and the team needs to see how he does in them. I think that's quite important to what kind of offer the team will make him.

And once again the Ravens game is on at 1 pm here, and the Skins game is blacked out. This is one I really want to see. :wall:

Inactives today

QB Robert Griffin, RB Chris Thompson, WR Andre Roberts, TE Je'Ron Hamm, G Arie Kouandjio, LB Perry Riley, S Jeron Johnson

So I guess the newly-signed TE is on the active roster. Hamm must be really bad.

I'm glad the Giants lost, they're a scary team in December/January. They could have easily won out if they had won today, and I still don't have total confidence in the Skins stealing a win in Philly next week. Now if Philly loses tonight and the Giants win in week 17 it won't matter.

Awesome win today. Kirk was great(again). Faust posted an article in the cousin's thread stating no chance skin let cousins walk after the season. LaCa was the source.

Have to admit, I'm shocked by the improvement this season. I stated earlier that I had wanted to see what the skins had in RG3. Guess that's why I'm a not an NFL coach.

A lot has improved this season, both in the offseason and during the season itself. Cousins has improved noticeably, doesn't seem to let his mistakes snowball any more. Pass blocking has been surprisingly good all year which, considering the inexperience of 3 of the 5 starters (and LeRibeus lately) is a pleasant surprise. Run blocking is still a problem, it just is. But what's improved there is the insistence on sticking with the run when the first 3-5 runs don't work. They do hit one now and then for a critical 3rd down or a decent 1st down gain. Playcalling the last couple games is better; they're less predictable.

Defense is still a problem. They just give up a lot of points. But all in all there's been enough improvement I can see on the field that I'm happy they're going forward again as a team. And they do seem to play with some urgency a lot of the time now, instead of like deer in headlights.

My first thoughts: The Redskins played really well. Not only that, they actually look like a decent team coming down to crunch time and the playoffs. Who would have thought that coming into the season.

The offense played quite well. The O Line looks like it is doing better than earlier in the season. The running game, which did better, does not look like it will hold up against a good opponent. The defense really surprised me. The front 4 or 5 were consistently beating the Bill's O Line on passing plays. Taylor had very little time to throw on many plays. The secondary is playing pretty well. As they said on the broadcast, a lot of credit must be given to Perry Fewell.

Cousins had another very good game. It is irritating how much time talk radio spends on the QB position and is this QB the QB of the future, should he be re-signed, when should he be re-signed, etc., etc. But Cousin has played very well over the past 6-8 games. And he has a big part in the success the Redskins have had this season.

I agree. I'm surprised to be saying that because at the beginning of the year I thought he'd lose more games for them than he'd win. That hasn't been the case. The Bills also don't have much of a pass rush which surprised me. Cousins had lots of time to throw today, and made the most of it.

I'll differ with you about the defense a bit. It was abysmal in the 3rd quarter. It was top notch during the first half but the Bills o-line looked like they had gone home for the year already.

If the Redskins win next week they win the NFC East. They could even rest their starters for Week 17 against the Cowboys because they're not doing better or worse than the 3 or 4 seed, both of which host a playoff game.

If they lose to the Eagles next week, they can only make the playoffs (by winning the NFC East) by beating the Cowboys AND hoping that the Giants beat the Eagles.

Also, if they won the NFC East they would likely, as is tradition, play the Seahawks at FedEx.

I started the season thinking Cousins was a career backup. By midseason, I moved to thinking he can be a lower tier starting QB that we should just move on from after this season. Now I see him as a mid-level starting QB who is worth keeping around. And I'm willing to admit he has more upside still.

His season numbers are approaching middle of the pack, which is an improvement from earlier this season. And that's primarily been driven by a really nice 8-game stretch. Going back to the Tampa game, Cousins is 185-254-2205-16-3. That's a 72.8 completion % and 8.7 Y/A. It's a 16-game pace of 4410 yards and 32:6 TD:INT. He's also added 4 TD runs in that stretch.

Yeah, there's been some bad defenses. Yeah, his good production just happen to coincide with the presence of Desean and Jordan. But, he's also passing the eye test recently. He's improved so much. He's not a top 10 QB right now, but I'll entertain those who want to argue that he can get there.

I'm starting to Like That.

Obviously winning the division and making the playoffs would be awesome. But, I dread playing the Seahawks again. Let's Go Vikings!!!

I would have never believed anyone if they told me that the Redskins would be in sole possession of 1st place going into Week 16. I thought at best, this team could pull off 7 wins. Now, here were are on December 21st, 1 win away from clinching the division. Unreal.

I've been one of the bigger Cousins doubters on here, but he's proven me wrong this year. Hell of a season from him.

Agreed with everything Matt just wrote. Except I thought this team had 3 or 4 wins tops. I know its the holidays and this week's events are more important than sports but damn, I wish it was Saturday.

I've been reading where Cousin's resurgence has been somewhat tied to the presence of Reed and Jackson, which makes sense.

Jackson gets injured a lot, but it seems like he is capable of making a big play in virtually every game he plays. I am starting to warm up to the idea of re-signing Jackson along with Cousins.

Reed is an absolute stud and I think he needs to be considered one of the very top TEs in the game, maybe top 3 or 4. If he could learn to block without holding I'd put him at # 2 behind Gronkowski. Seriously.

I thought realistically, this was a 4 or 5 win team. I thought if we caught all the breaks, the best we could do is 7-9. Now, we could still finish 7-9, but I don't think I expected to be 7-7 going into the last 2 weeks.

What a difference a professional GM makes!
This is the major key, IMO. It's huge when you have one skilled captain at the helm. In one year, he's given us a credible roster w/o extending us against the cap. Draft picks have been contributors this year. Saw where the Skins have lost 13 or 14 starters to season ending injuries? Unbelievable we've been able to absorb that. Would have never happened in year's past.

I cant wait for Saturday.

I hope Philly gets to rest their starters in wk 17.

HTTR.

im going to reserve judgement until the end of the season. Need to see how he does in clutch. for some reason, the redskins fan in me still expects us to crash and burn on saturday and miss the playoffs.

Walking out after the game yesterday I watched a drunk Bill's girl fall flat on her face. Hard. She immediately threw a thumbs up and yelled, "I'm good!"

Lol.

I'm still apprehensive to call him our "franchise" QB, but he's done enough this year to earn at least another year here as the starter.

it's here. Win on Saturday and you're in the playoffs. You can't get more motivation than that!
But that doesn't mean Mychal Kendricks won't try to give them some! His postgame comments after the Eagles loss last night:

“If I know this team and I know myself and I know the guys in here, man, the Redskins got something coming to them,” he said. “For real. And that’s real s---. That’s all I’ve got to say.”

How excited are you guys to abuse EJ Biggers as a starting CB next week, ouch! That.....guy.....sucks.
I think he was on the Redskins last year, wasn't it? Ooof.

That said, no one in this thread is gonna be cocky or take this game lightly. Arizona makes a lot of teams look bad. We know the Eagles are dangerous as h--- plus they are at home. It's going to take everything the Redskins have to come out with a victory. I don't know when the last time we won 3 in a row was. Probably during RGIII's 2012 run honestly.

I am just happy that the Redskins are even in it at this point. Pre-season I had them at 6 wins. Even if they fail against the Eagles, season has surpassed my expectations...

LET THE BANDWAGON BEGIN!!!

people that have talked #### about the skins all year are rushing out to buy jerseys

pick a team and stick with it :homer:

I work in DC and have always been Skins.

That said, I know folks around here who root for Dallas who have never set foot inside state of Texas. Bleh.

Funny how many New England fans I run into. Some are from NE area but most aren't.

It's a different era of watching football than I grew up with, when everyone rooted for the home team...

I'm happier that McCloughan got rid of him. For years The Redskins used him like Philly is now, McCloughan gets here and makes some moves and while starters have gone down Will Blackmon plays pretty well. Being run by a competant GM makes such a difference.

I'm sure later on that night someone else was good too ya know.

The division really looks to be trending in The Redskins favor too.

New York looks on the decline with Coughlin

With Romo getting hurt and Dallas collapsing Jerry Jones is still involved enough that he'll have a big say in their QB of the future. That's excellent for the rest of the division.

Philadelphia comes down to Chip, his GM moves are rough so far and if he continues as GM and continues neglecting the Lines and chasing big Free Agents they'll fall apart pretty quick.

I don't think anything has changed. People have always loved winners, it's just that when we were growing up the local team was one of them, so the bandwagon types had no reason to defect.

Also a lot of the Dallas fans in the area (at least the black ones) adopted the team back in the day because of George Preston Marshall's racism. Can't really fault them for that, guy was a despicable human being.
