**Official** 2015 Washington Redskins Thread YOU LIKE THAT! (1 Viewer)

last GB game I remember was when Sean Taylor had 15 INT(that's how I recall it anyway).
Last one I remember was in 2004 when it supposedly was going to pick the winner of the presidential election because it was their last home game before Election Day. As I recall, Washington lost, which was supposed to mean the Democrats would win. But it was wrong for the first time in like 60 years.

To be fair that was the first election to go to overtime in more than 100 years, and was decided by a controversial replay decision...
I think you're thinking of 2000.
Bah. Stupid facts, always getting in the way of an otherwise great narrative.

Amusing. Will "You Like That" become the "BC/AD" for Redskins fans?

It's funny, but there may be something to it...what did the Tampa comeback do for the psyche of Cousins and/or the entire Redskins team?
Honestly, that comeback changed everything even for the fans. I know i thought they were done and they should fire gruden, get rid of cousins, and let Scott rebuild. But its crazy how a little confidence and having your back against the wall can change things. Those giants teams that won the superbowl were all similar teams. Not saying we will as we havent even beat a team with a winning record yet, but whatever it was is a powerful thing.

The Tampa game was the obvious turning point. I remember thinking down 24-7 at the half that they should probably bench Cousins and start looking around at what coaches would be available. We're 6-3 since that game.

Hey come on! Buf finished 8-8 :D

The Tampa game was huge. They were so miserable in the first half that it was disgusting. It looked like another season swirling down the toilet, only earlier in the season than usual. The comeback was inspiring. I realize Tampa's a losing team, but the Skins players didn't seem to believe they could compete until they actually did it in the second half of that game. That seemed the turning point of the season for the players.

As I pointed out a couple weeks ago this stat isn't really that meaningful. We've only had three chances to beat a team with a winning record (in fact there's only 12 other such teams in the league). All three came on the road, and two of them were against teams who were undefeated and basically unstoppable at the time- New England before most of their injuries and Carolina.

I've been saying this a ton lately. Sure, we're 0-3 against teams with winning records, but we only got to play 3 of them and they were all earlier in the year when we hadn't hit our stride. And losing to Carolina and New England on the road isn't a bad thing. Both of those teams combined for what, 2 home losses all year? And our other loss was to the 10-6 Jets on the road. Those 3 teams were a combined 20-4 at home this season. So the Skins losing on the road to all 3 of them isn't surprising.

true. I agree with all that. Its just, its hard to tell if this is us beating up on bad teams or if we can actually beat a team that is decent. We will see on Sunday. GB has looked bad as of late so i dont see why we couldnt/shouldnt beat them. But, the old skins fan in me is skeptical.....

We definitely beat up on bad teams, no doubt. But when there's only 13 teams in the league with a winning record, a bunch of teams were just beating up on bad teams. I don't think it means we can't beat good teams, it just means we didn't get many chances to beat good teams. Especially once we started playing better.

In other news, the Redskins are supposed to release renderings of a new stadium sometime this month. I assume the next major step would be securing a location.

My guess is the new stadium will have PSLs.

You really think Snyder would risk pissing off longtime fans just so he can make more money?

If anyone's curious, snopes.com has a complete rundown of Washington/election correlation since 1936: http://www.snopes.com/politics/ballot/redskins.asp

BTW, there was a similar correlation between the World Series and the election from 1952-84. NL win predicted a Democratic victory, AL win a Republican one. It didn't hold for 1988-96 and then returned to being accurate from 2000-12.

Where do they think this new stadium is going to located?
Don't think it's been announced, but my guess is Virginia. Training camp is there, team facilities are there. Just seems like that's where they want to be.

Yeah, I just read where some were thinking Loudoun County, VA. TC is in Ashburn, in eastern Loudoun. Lots of players apparently live in Loudoun as well, so it makes sense. And now they've built the Metro out to Reston, VA so all of a sudden its easier to get out closer to the area. I think there are plans to build Metro out to Dulles Airport, which would be in Loudoun County...

That's the next phase being built now.

And it will have two stations beyond Dulles in Loudoun so I guess land could be set aside nearby for a stadium. But, that's way out there. I think you risk alienating Maryland fans going that far out in VA. People complain about FedEx but it's at least inside the beltway. Going west of Dulles would be equivalent, distance-wise, as going a little west of Annapolis (50 and 97 interchange area).

You Like That rally towels will be given away Sunday. But, I have a compliant! I keep seeing people add a question mark to the end. The rally towel ends with a ? and a !.

I don't understand why people keep adding a ?. I don't hear a question in the original performance.

It's not a statement but a very forceful rhetorical question.

I disagree. Watch the video again. I don't hear a question at all. This has been on my mind for a while. I've done a lot of research on this.

cowboys had their worst record in 25 years while the eagles and giants canned their head coaches. cant help but laugh thinking back at the pre-season predictions from the media talking heads. suddenly the redskins are the only team in the NFCE with some stability.

A question ruins it dude. Kirk was not asking permission from the media during his oratory. He was forcefully informing them of the fact that they did, in fact, like that. Pretty much a subtle way of saying, "you wrote crap about me, now F you." Definitely should be exclamation point or your missing the whole point. When you kick someone's ### you don't ask them, you tell them, that they like that -- hence the punctuation.

No he's asking them. It's rhetorical, after kicking someones ### you say "You Like That?!". Kirk is making them acquiesce....sobbing "Yes" stating they do in fact Like That.

On the official shirts there is no punctuation whatsoever.

Like an enigmatic poem or novel the reader is left to determine for him or herself whether it is a question or comment.

I still say it's an exclamation but if as has been stated in this thread you want to make it a menacing, taunting question, I can live with that as well I suppose.

Why in blue blazes do they need to put any punctuation on that damn thing anyways?

Something I've been noticing for weeks now is the playcalling gets less and less predictable. Other teams don't know what's coming nearly as often as they used to. Hats off tto Gruden (and McVay and Cousins) for changing that.

The Packers are probably the toughest pass defense that the Redskins have faced since they played the Panthers in Week 11. Green Bay is better than any team that the Redskins have played in the last six games in terms of both opponent passer rating and net passing yards per attempt.

However, the Packers do have some vulnerability to the deep pass. The have given up 14 passes of 40 yards or more, tied for the third most in the league. The Redskins hope that DeSean Jackson’s week off did him some good. The pressure will be on the offensive line to keep the Packers at bay (43 sacks, T-7th) and give Kirk Cousins time to find Jackson deep.

Virginia, especially Loudoun County, have been very open to the Redskins building a stadium. DC has not been that enthusiastic and they are a pain in the but to deal with. MD has not been very open to it. If this continues, Virginia will be the home of the Redskins by default.

I have not seen any specific sites, but there is land near Rt. 606 and the Greenway, just northwest of Dulles Airport. There will be a future Metro station there and not much development yet. I am pretty sure that is the most promising area in Loudoun County. And it is 4 or 5 miles from Redskin Park.

This is the right answer.

I am glad that we have all come together to resolve this important issue :hifive:

What is the geographical split between Redskins fans and Ravens (old Colts) fans? Are skins fans mainly Philly to DC and baltimore fans are DC and south?

The area has always confused me (District of Columbia vs Maryland vs Delaware vs Virginia etc.)

I know there isn't a line in the sand per se, but for instance in New York, Queens and Long Island comprise most of the Mets fans and the Bronx/Manhattan most Yankee fans. Just as an example

What is the geographical split between Redskins fans and Ravens (old Colts) fans? Are skins fans mainly Philly to DC and baltimore fans are DC and south?

The area has always confused me (District of Columbia vs Maryland vs Delaware vs Virginia etc.)
Think you have the bolded backwards. Skins fans are usually found between Columbia and South. Ravens fans are Columbia and North. Columbia seems like a good dividing point, at least to me during my time spent there. I'd say most of Virginia, at least Northern Virginia is also Redskin territory.
