Never heard that before about Pritchard.  If it happens at Oregon they do a good job of hiding it IMO.  I would be very disappointed to find out it happens.
:lmao:

you would be way more disappointed if they didn't do it.

Why are you against college kids getting paid? I can't think of a dumber thing to be upset about.

I know, it's not a truth we want to accept for our program, but the reality is, if you want to be competitive, you have to play the game.  Oregon was very lucky more didn't come out with the Willie Lyles' scandal.  They were able to damage control that one and don't think for a second it doesn't have anything to do with Uncle Phil.  Uncle Phil is of great importance to many many colleges, not just Oregon.  But you better damn well be careful how you treat his baby.

How do we really know that?  I know people have been talking about Ole Miss for a while, is it just a matter of more brazen?
Exactly.  They stopped trying to hide it, in fact they started to promote it.  And I'm not joking.   Probably not interesting to most, but a few years ago a guy started up this Miss State message board and one day he started a thread that went viral.  He broke down how OM was operating.   He Dubbed it "the network"

The OM guys started having fun with it....they actually started putting up billboards around Mississippi

Even their AD tweets with #thenetwork.  He hasn't done that in a year or so.

Yeah, we're childish here.

Another highway to trouble, on top of being careless, is being stupid and rubbing the NCAA's face in it...which is another road OM took.

Kids are getting paid with a free education and room and board.  If all kids got paid that is one thing, but whoever has the highest paying boosters is entirely different.   The reduction of scholarships to 85 was great for college football as it kept the USC's and Alabama's from hoarding all the top talent and gave other schools a chance to compete with recruits.

It leveled the cheating field a bit, but there are many benefits high-level recruits receive besides $25k handshakes. Hookers, "tutors", and "free loan" cars are three of the most prevalent. I'm not too many years removed from having a direct pipeline into these things and, I can tell you straight up, your school breaks about 9,000 NCAA rules in regards to football & hoops during every recruiting season. Some, like the team I root for (Maryland), suck at it even so.

Interesting.  Figured you have some of the good dirt.

See, I feel the same way about steroids in sports.  I think it is still way way way underreported.  My little fraternity brother and close friend pitched for a DIII school.  He used steroids.  He said all the guys on the team would experiment with them.  Not ONE of these guys had a future in sports and yet, here they were, dosing up on juice to play DIII baseball.
Luckily I tore up my knee Freshman year and focused my efforts dominating people on my Sega Genesis.

Nah. FSU has given a player giant bags of money. Alabama has. LSU has, etc. Ole Miss' problem was how quick they were about rising up the rankings and they beat the wrong schools for the right kids, which sent the antennas up.
Apparantly Freeze was super cocky with the NCAA when they had their first investigation.  According to some ole miss beat writer i heard on the radio, the NCAA brass thinks Freeze is a huge fraud playing up his jesus stuff all over social media then doing stuff like this.

Woah this blew up while I was gone. Apparently some of you took me saying "I still don't think there are as many instances of paying players as most seem to think" as saying I don't think this happens at all. I never said that, nor implied that. I just don't think everyone is getting paid all the time.

You SCar fans in particular decided to jump in the water fast. I haven't seen some of these names posting in the past month or so, good to see you again.

I legitimately feel bad for you. Your football program which clearly is a hugely important component of your life has never won anything of significance so you must rely on sketchily reported 6+ year old stories to prove some kind of point in order to to feel emboldened enough to post on a message board?  Keep on keeping on.

So you believed him when he claimed all of that cash was his aunt's and he was just holding it for her?

Just lift up that rug and sweep it underneath. There's plenty of room.

I'm saying I don't care and I don't understand why any reasonable person would.

But since you're such a stickler, do you have any comment on this?

I sure do. All of that money was paid back and a penalty was paid. This is a copy and paste from the link you provided:

ESPN’s SEC conference blog adds that Britton Banowsky, the chairman of the NCAA’s Committee on Infractions, said South Carolina’s case was a painless process.
“In some cases, they went even beyond what the NCAA staff was doing,” Banowsky said of South Carolina officials. “ We see that less likely than the other approach, and this report reflects how pleased the committee was with their diligence. They took the interview process and discovery process to a higher level.”
Now how about comment on this link.

Not everybody is getting paid.

- all the five stars are getting paid

- all the four stars are getting paid

- 3 stars with multiple big offers are getting paid

- admittedly most of the two stars are not getting paid

Ehhh maybe, I still think it's way less than that.  If all of those people are getting paid, that's literally over 1,000 people who all, for the most part, keep things quiet.

"Three people can keep a secret, if two of them are dead."

It's not a maybe. It's not up for dispute

Read the article I posted. It will explain everything. The guy who wrote it talked to multiple Bag men.

And he's believable because?  anonymous sources in one article?  I'm not denying these things happen, but the burden of proof should be higher than that one article.

Mercy, talk about moving the goalposts. Let's just stick to the last two seasons which were infinitely more accomplished than the history of the Gamecock football program. Although I'm sure you'll find a way to discredit that to maintain your sanity.

There's a video attached underneath it where he said the one voice was multiple sources. It was a narrative vehicle.

If you don't believe it, that's fine. It's just a ludicrous and laughable position to take.

If you think thousands of teens and their families can keep quiet about all this free cash flying around, that's fine. I think it's ludicrous and laughable to believe that.

You tell me a few top people at every school, I'm on board. You tell me every 3/4/5 star in America is taking cash, I call BS.

But they don't keep quiet about it. That's what you keep missing.

There's a few randoms here and there, but if there are literally thousands of people partaking we'd have hundreds of these instances.  Our dear gamecock friend pointed out all of the clemson instances earlier... that's like 3 instances out of hundreds of people that would have been paid over the past decade if this were true.  The people that have had if pop up are a complete statistical anomaly if the conspiracy is as large as you're making it out to be.  If every recruit in the top 250 (which is still way less than every 3/4/5 star) was cashing in, I'd expect to see these things pop up literally every day.

Hell, I hope we paid Deshaun. He would have earned every penny of it. But do I think guys like Gallman or Boulware are getting cash? I doubt it. Maybe a ride here or a free pizza there, but a bagman showing up with $15k, nah. Gallman was only taken to begin with because we wanted Nkimedheche.  Boulware, he was a good football player but he's dumb as ####. The guy decided to start promoting the idea that sticking fingers in buttholes was part of football. Do you think that guy has been getting paid and was able to keep quiet about it?  He's a dip####.

wait,wait,wait....you're married?

I went to a small D3 school to play baseball and our ####ty football team who played in stadiums smaller than a lot of high school programs would break NCAA rules in terms of practice and "private" scholarships.

If that crap hole of a team in D3 broke rules I will guaranty every single D1 program breaks rules it is just a matter of degree.
My D-3 alma mater has lost 20 games in a row; if they're doing it, they're not doing it right.

I'm more along with your train of thought. If your school wants *that guy*, they're going to move heaven and earth to bring him in. It probably applies to the top 2-3 in any class. Beyond that, there's probably a sliding scale right down to free pizza for the walk-on.

I like how people give chump change to OM recruits and the world is ending ($800 bucks? Really?) and Baylor can just keep on going like nothing happened.

NCAA is a joke.
