The Civil War and Reconstruction had something to do with thatProbably more amazing is that Hoover ended a period where the R's were in the majority in the senate for 62 out of 72 years.

So I guess she won't be VP.Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrumpI just realized that if you listen to Carly Fiorina for more than ten minutes straight, you develop a massive headache. She has zero chance!
As I noted above, I was referring to total net lost seats in a presidency. Obama has the most since FDR.You shouldn't have brought up Ike and Ford, ruins the false meme that it only happens to presidents who are Democrats (which I had been looking forward to being repeated by the bright minds who never actually bothered to read the link). The answer is right there in your own link. Roosevelt lost 141 seats his last two mid-terms; Truman lost 92 seats, and Eisenhower lost 80. Ford lost 53 in his only midterm.Obama has lost 76 House seats, 15 Senate seats. Has any other president come close?

Not in 1956, Ike won reelection handily. And of course in 1960 the Democrats ran JFK, like Obama, a once in a generation charismatic candidate against the uncharismatic Richard "Tricky Dicky" Nixon. You know what else is funny about Ike & Ford? Yes he sounds just like my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I'm a registered Republican. I won't vote for Trump no matter what. He is more what's wrong with our country than anyone else running. (Fame = value; money = "I have something to say and you should listen")1.) Immigration -Can you specifically tell me what is. 3 or 4 things that we "were" and "should still be"? I have asked this before of Trump supporters, but I can't get a specific answer.I'm almost certain we're getting Hilary vs Trump and Trump wins the whole damn thing. He's going to do a lot of good for our country.
He's going to bring us back to where we were and where we still should have been.
Our neighbor Mexico is beating us at the border and it's a disgrace. Trump is going to be tough on immigration because the money we spend on healthcare, jail, etc for these illegals can be used to create jobs. Hilary is weak on immigration and would let everyone in for all she cares.
2.) Trade -
We're getting beat by China, Japan, and Mexico in trade. Trump is going to bring jobs back to America and win the Mexican vote. He has a very large company and has trade partners across the globe. The Art of the Deal is one of the best selling business books of all time.
3.) Foreign Policy -
Our current foreign policy is a joke. Our allies hate us and our enemies are getting stronger by the day. Trump was against the 2 trillion dollar campaign in Iraq because he said it would destabilize the Middle East. Trump would be hard nosed with Iran who are trying to take over Iraq. Trump would cut off ISIS' money supply by bombing their oil fields.
4.) Social Issues -
Trump doesn't have time to be politically correct. He's going to crush the liberal media as he has done so far. He speaks the truth and I don't think he'll be soft and allow all this race baiting and victim mentality from the GLBT to continue. He's a hard nosed Christian and I think he empowers people when he roasts people in the media.
He says everything you wish other politicians would. He will stop the liberal, sissy takeover we've seen. He doesn't care what people think he only cares about the truth.
I blame that Jerry guy.So it seems to be an issue for Democrat Presidents.Obama has lost 76 House seats, 15 Senate seats. Has any other president come close?http://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/data/mid-term_elections.phpA little misleading when you are only looking at mid-term elections. And FDR lost 117 House seats, which is the run away winner as far as House seats are concerned. Plus Truman lost 74 House seats and 18 Senate seats, which is ballpark to Obama's mid-term numbers.

Actually I used to really like Fiorina. When she ran for senator against Boxer, I heard her give a speech about how excessive red tape was costing California jobs going to Texas. I agreed with that speech and I voted for her. But these days she's spouting a lot of nonsense. I explained how in the thread devoted to her. Furthermore, when you consider our country is in a multi-trillion dollar deficit bringing in somebody with a track record of accumulating wealth and closing deals on a global scale is a no-brainer. Specifically somebody with a Bachelors in Economics like Trump also helps matters. I don't think it was a very dumb thing for me to say at all. Do you have any specific skills that have allowed you to excel at business so much that you're in a select 0.00019373% of the population?
http://www.villagevoice.com/news/behind-the-seventies-era-deals-that-made-donald-trump-7380534Trump's father, Fred, had known Abe Beame, then the mayor, for some 30 years — and had been a campaign contributor for 20; the firm is tied to the same Brooklyn Democratic machine which spawned Beame's political career. Trump's attorney Bunny Lindenbaum, seated beside him in the courtroom that morning, is Beame's oldest and closest friend. Penn Central representatives began negotiating with Trump two weeks after Beame became mayor. Trump's option is scheduled to end when Beame's term is up. There can be no misunderstanding: Trump, in that Philadelphia courtroom, was executing a political option.
In economics it's not, but in politics it is because producers do more lobbying than consumers. Finally, is a trade deficit automatically a bad thing?
yea, those micro and macro economic classes as a 20 year old are a clear prerequisite to being a presidentSpecifically somebody with a Bachelors in Economics like Trump also helps matters.
I don't know how others feel about this but when Trump said "Wharton School of Business" during the debates I naturally thought he meant he had an MBA, which I thought yeah sounded impressive. Now it turns out that's just undergrad. No, rich daddy gets him into Penn where he gets a business degree. He graduated at 23 which tells me he had some bumps in the road academically (NTTAWWT, but let's face it he's a blowhard telling people he went to "Wharton" and he wants to be president of the USA). His dad was on the board at his elite private HS too, so that got him in there but behavioral problems led to his dismissal, whereupon he was sent off to military school. Actually everything you mention seems to make him look worse and worse. Again I wouldn't hold this against ordinary folks but this guy is running for president and is making himself look like he's some self-accomplished, blue collar common sense talker from the ol' neighborhood. He's not.A Bachelors from an Ivy League school means nothing. You guys are a bunch of chumps.
His dad sounds like he was the man.Clearly by his wealth and leading poll numbers he learned something from his old man. He can do a lot for our country's economy. Are we going to bring up his multiple failed marriages? Look at Reagan and his illustrious Eureka education. I almost went to that school but ultimately passed. He has a hot wife, I'll say that. I honestly can't think about one serious qualification for the guy except that he knows the Manhattan real estate market like the back of his hand. In the dystopia where Trump gets elected he would be somewhere between an Andrew Johnson and a Silvio Berlusconi.Jobs and economic growth will solve most social issues. We need a numbers President and we need one now. Hilary will be such a novelty act. Trump will beat Clinton. He will expose her everyday on the media.

As I recall he locked himself or one of his cabinet secretaries in a room because he didn't like being told what to do by Congress. Can you imagine what a Trump would do with the executive privileges first pushed by Bush and now expanded by Obama? How does the phrase benevolent autocrat strike you?
Trump's FOS, he could just as easily declare universal health care. Or build a thousand hospitals, or halt payments to medicare to balance the budget.
