Official 2016 GOP thread: Is it really going to be Donald Trump?? (1 Viewer)

Cruz is crushing Trump tonight. Not sure it will resonate in the polls.
Not really. Insulting the third most populous state is pretty dumb.
New York is irrelevant to GOP electoral hopes.
Reagan won NY twice no? How could it be irrelevant?
People outside of the NY/NJ area consider it "Blue". It's really not, look at the Governors of those states historically. What it is a very Liberally Social and Fiscally Conservative area. Once National Presidents start talking about abortion laws/religion, you lose them.

That's going to be the sound-bite of the week.
To who?

When the terrorists attacked New York...New York didn't stop being liberals who support abortion, higher regulation, higher taxes and a multitude of other things that are completely contradictory to what voters in the GOP believe and stand for.

I just hope that the terrorists don't take out a San Francisco skyscraper...because then I guess we can't refer to San Francisco values anymore....

Trump was prepared for that one.
The smell of death, a big FU to Cruz and those who agree with him, I agree - September 2000 New Yorkers were heroes or maybe some have forgotten.
If he'd mentioned that the firefighters and other first responders running toward the buildings and who gave their lives trying to save others were New Yorkers, and represented New York values, that would have been a devastating haymaker. As it was, it was a solid hook.

Because no Republican outside of Reagan has gotten more than 40% since I don't know when...and they are usually lucky to get 35%.

Do you honestly think Ted Cruz had a chance of winning New York before he made these comments?

Honestly Trump just stood up for New York City in South Carolina, I love that. Hometown pride gets me every time.

It's got nothing to do with the general, it's all about the primary.

New York's primary is like 42nd or something.

Yeah, and most of the South votes fairly early this year. That's exactly why Cruz is leveling that charge.

Do you think that NY GOP voters really feel attacked when a GOP candidate says NY is filled with liberals?

I live in California and don't give two ####s about GOP candidates criticizing liberal California values or San Francisco liberals, etc? If I had my wish the rest of the country would wall off this state so we would stop contaminating the rest of the country with our collective idiocy.

Not only that...but Trump is doing really well with Southern voters.

Michigan (where I am from), and Maryland(where I live), are very blue. They voted for Reagan though so you can't simply dismiss them like they are guaranteed to vote blue. Never give anything away in politics, never.

He's fg ranting! "I love Chinese people!"

"Would you support a tariff on China? Really?"

Trump: "Let me tell you something Carl Icahn is my friend, he just endorsed me!"
