I don't think there is a pro sport where they can hit basketballs with tennis racquets.lolbreeding LeBron to the Williams sisters probably results in a better athlete than if Flo from Progressive is the mom
He didn't winAre you sure?Down goes Pharoah

Doesn't sound sincere to me. I'll require chocolate.Missed your Saratoga post
All news about him has been in this thread so I just did a quick search and posted it here

Congrats
I sincerely doubt 1) Shared Belief coming off that bad of a hip injury will run in the Classic 2) be fit enough to come in off works alone or 1 prep to seriously contend if he does.Penguin said:Shared Belief will beat AP if he runs in the Classic.
My mother and my aunt are going. Should be a blast, including AP's last run.Heading to Keeneland for Breeders' Cup action Saturday. Actually have tickets for both days, but looking like I'm going to have to work Friday. Should be an interesting environment...

Enjoy!
heavy favorite in the early betting for sure.nyquist is the horse to watch imo
Every year tv shows less & less races going up to the Derby. When ESPN had the rights it seemed like there was a lot more pre-coverage.I haven't had the same interest as I have had in years past...not really sure why. hopefully it'll ramp up for me these next few weeks
Yeah I used to seek out and bet all the preps...just haven't had the time this yearEvery year tv shows less & less races going up to the Derby. When ESPN had the rights it seemed like there was a lot more pre-coverage.
Watched that on Saturday, Exaggerator looked like he was shot out of a cannon when he made his move.
Not goingAnyone going this year? I will be there and will buy a drink for any FBG. Sect 316.
Sadly, no. Starlight has no potential runners. Not going![]()
Does Starland have any potential entries this year?
That was extremely impressive. He was flat-out flying for the whole last half-mile.
It was just a maiden race, but he also won his debut at Belmont last year. You should get decent odds in this big field.I saw Destin run in the Tampa Derby. Tampa Bay Downs is a really "cuppy" track (meaning it's almost like running on a beach for a horse), but Destin looked like he had zero issues whatsoever.
I don't know how that will translate to Churchill, or if the Tampa Derby is any indication of Kentucky Derby success, but I'll probably throw some money on him.
Hat game.hosting a Derby party this year. Need to figure out a simple but fun way for the adults to gamble on the cheap since it's a family party. Leaning toward selling squares like a super bowl pool but for exacta boxes...that's 190 squares if a full set of 20 horses run. I know nothing about this year's horses - might as well just make it random fun.
How would you do the box for 190? That assumes (I think) that each box gets the pair of horses so it doesn't matter what order they finish in. I'd have to think about whether you could draw a grid for that or if you'd have to make 190 squares for people to draw out of a hat.hosting a Derby party this year. I'm probably dumb, but how would you set this up? If people fill in their boxes before the numbers are drawn, then what happens if someone gets a box where the 12 horse meets the 12 horse? Do they just get their money back, or do you draw the numbers first and then have people fill in the boxes?hosting a Derby party this year. right...so I thought I'd cut the number in half and box them. That does mean I need to make 190 square combinations to draw instead of writing names on the squares...but I think I'd have better luck selling all of them to avoid a messy carry over. It's going to be about a dozen adults...I suppose I could do a quarter per square on a full grid (planning 50 cents per spot on the box grid...$95 to the winner). How would you do the box for 190? If you want to do a grid without boxing the horses (i.e. finish order does matter) then one way to do it will be to construct a 20x20 square. The main difference with a superbowl square is that when drawing numbers, each horse will occupy the same spot in the horizontal and vertical axes. So if Destin is the first horse drawn, he will have the first row and first column with box 1,1 xed out. Obviously your guests will fill in their squares before drawing horses and you will have to decide which axis will represent the winner. There will be 380 squares (20x20 - 20 x'ed out squares) up for grabs so you'll need to take that into account.
Great minds and all that...See above.![]()
I'd love to brag that "My horse ran last in the Derby and I won $500!"- buddy of mine runs a very simple pool each year .... numbers drawn (1-20) at random, each costing $100 per.
first place horse pays $1500, last place horse pays $500.
no rake.
a few years back I was sky high on Gemologist (Pletcher) ... and I think he won the 'booby' prize that year, if memory servesI'd love to brag that "My horse ran last in the Derby and I won $500!"
