I have a friend named Tom so I'll do an exacta box with the 2 Tom horses.  Still trying to figure the rest out.

Just because I'm dumb as a doorknob - in the first example you're picking one horse to win, one of two to come in second, one of four to come in third, etc.?  The second example you have two horses to win, one to finish second...
Correct.  Then the same horse in 3rd and 4th bumping the others up (but usually whittling down a bit)

I'm a donator every year and it looks like it will be more of the same.  I have no clue how to bet the trifecta, but always place and lose it anyway.  So here it goes again.  $1 tri wheel

9, 11, 13 / 5, 8, 9, 11, 13, 17 / 2, 4, 5, 8, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17

Help me out here.  I know this is probably a bad way to go about placing the bet and I'm including too many, but I'm not experienced enough to know what to change or how to fix it.  Any advice is greatly appreciated!   :bag:
Nothing wrong with that bet

And I wouldn't worry about it being too much, especially in a race as chaotic as the derby

winning but losing money certainly sucks, but I can tell you losing a big payday when you scratch off a horse or 2 to save a few bucks hurts worse

Actually, I'm going to ask AR if he's related to the backup qb on the BC Lions because he looks just like him.

Always a chance I end up changing my mind but right now gonna go with this for top 5

1. Mor Spirit

2. Exxagerator

3. Suddenbreakingnews

4. Nyqist

5. Majesto

I don't play the horses very much anymore but I used to. Alot

I've made some money on races with horses I know nothing about just trip handicapping the pp's and looking for bad trips. Also a bad trip as a beaten fave.

Mo Tom sure fits the bill here at a price. Amoss and Lanerie aren't huge names but they aren't bums either

Happy Derby Day ...

gettin' an early start  - handy tool here to help crunch your wager costs

still debating the 'key' horse for my tri bet ... taking a closer look at Destin this morning, but still think Mohaymen has one in him.

12:00pm eastern NBC sports, switches to NBC around 4.
Awesome, thanks!

Miss living in Louisville, it was on all day, start to finish.  I need to go down there for Derby Week again.  Thunder Over Louisville, the annual fireworks show, was always an epic show/party. 22 barges fully loaded with fireworks down on the Ohio River. Awesome.

Good luck to everyone, I hope all your Derby horses win.
I hope you all cash some big tickets!  I played lazy and picked 6 horses to win.  Stupid bet, but I have been so bad with the trifecta.  I haven't cashed a ticket since Funny Cide.  My kids are better handicappers than I am.  Just made the mint infused simple syrup and ready to enjoy some juleps!  Happy Derby Day!
