meet the new boss, same as the old boss
They've still won two world series in the past 20 years. I wish my team could be that kind of embarrassment.embarrassment to baseball.
The Tigers get 18 year old Dominican pitcher Wilkel Hernandez and OF Troy Montgomery, a 2016 8th rounder from Ohio St. who'll probably start in AA.Angels getting what’s left of Ian Kinsler
He was first in UZR/150, 2nd in Def efficiency, and 2nd in DRS in all of baseball last year at 2B. The year before he was better than that, and also had a .838 OPS. He's on the downside but he's a max effort player who is still among the best defensively at his position, he has value.Kinsler seems done to me.
If the power stays he's still above replacement level and he hit about 40 points below his career average last year. He's gonna be better than what they were running out there I would guess.Yep. glove still plays, does the 35 - 36 year old bat?
Really a class act by the Cardinals. Good chance he can bounce back and be a sight bargain over the remainder of his contract and be a steady, albeit unsexy, contributer. The Cardinals were legitimately cool to trade Piscotty to the A's, so he could be closer to his mom who has been diagnosed with ALS.
Piscotty signed an extension last year, so he's locked up for the next 5 years at a total of $32mm I think? Dunno who the prospects are.
He wants to play shortstop. I thought you guys already have the next Barry Larkin at short. So far, he has been the next Mike Caruso. Our White Sox are emerging as the most aggressive pursuer of Machado.
Jon Paul Morosi suggest moving them to Montreal yet? Then you have people like Peter Gammons chirping that they don't believe baseball will ever work in Miami. HAVE THEY EVER EVEN TRIED FOR MORE THAN A COUPLE YEARS?!
I mean, c'mon.
He has 1 yr left at $11m. Seems worth it to me.Kinsler seems done to me.
Their system was so loaded they've been doing a lot of 2 for 1 trades just to try and protect some of these guys. Will they be changing the name of the Rule 5 Draft to the "Poach the Yankees" Draft? Yankees players coming off the board at a crazy pace
https://www.mlb.com/news/2017-mlb-rule-5-draft-results/c-263351580Any results for the minor league phase I can look at? I know someone who was hoping to get picked as he is having trouble getting promoted out of A ball.
Big fan of Piscotty. Great swing. In his splits, you can pretty much see when he found out about his mom's ALS diagnosis. Probably a COF in the show but played 3B in college. The Cardinals were legitimately cool to trade Piscotty to the A's, so he could be closer to his mom who has been diagnosed with ALS.

Alcantara is only one of the four who has shown flashes of a breakout player. His fastball is 98-99 and can make bats miss upstairs. Cardinals tried to make him a starter but he's probably better suited as a closer or 8th inning man. Sierra rose through the system because the organization is short on lefty bats in the outfield. A more balanced org depth would have kept him in the minors. The prospects in the Ozuna trade are RHP Sandy Alcantara, OF Magneuris Sierra, RHP Zac Gallen, and LHP Daniel Castano.
Alcantara and Sierra both had cups of coffee with the big club in September but none of the four are top 100 prospects. There's always the possibility of one of them breaking out but right now, this looks like the Marlins trading a quarter for four nickels.

Alright that went on long enough...did you really think I would do this? Enjoy #17 Rhys! I'll go find another random #

Neshek has worn 8 different numbers during his career. People freaking out probably all bought Hoskins jerseys for Xmas.
I heard this on the radio yesterday and at first was extremely underwhelmed by a 27 year old, never done anything OF prospect.LHP Anthony Gose is an intriguing Rule 5 pickup.
Good one year deal for the Angels..Kinsler still can play. I loved watching him in Detroit. The guy comes to play everyday and is still a high end defender. Still think he will get back to the 280 range with 20-25 HRs.Angels getting what’s left of Ian Kinsler
A little curious to me that Santana who is around 120 wRC most years gets the exact same deal as Encarnacion, who is closer to 140 wRC most years.Santana signs with Phillies for 3/60 :shocking:
Stanton is gonna end up being a bargain
Because Santana is 2-3 years younger and actually plays a defensive positionA little curious to me that Santana who is around 120 wRC most years gets the exact same deal as Encarnacion, who is closer to 140 wRC most years.
Can't wait to draft him and have him get hurt diving for a fly ballThe Phils will be paying Santana through his age 34 season so there's not a huge risk of him becoming a boat anchor of a contract.
The biggest downside I see is losing the high 2nd & 5th round picks (and international bonus pool money) as compensation.
Rhys Hoskins to LF is the wild card. He never played OF in the minors but played 30 games there for the Phillies in 2017. I guess they saw enough potential to make the move.
Yeah, Moose's agent is sitting there stunned that the Angels picked Cosart over his guy.The Moustakas market just shrunk as the Anaheims keep active and sign Cosart to learn how to play 3B. Just under $13 per over 3 years.
The glove should transfer fine though. Its going to be hell getting something through that side of the Angles infield.I don't know if Cozart's age 31 offensive breakout is sustainable but there weren't many other 3B options available, especially in the price range.
Machado supposedly in play with our White Sox too, but if there's one position they don't have in the pipeline, its 3B. Could see them making a 3/60ish run at himI wonder if the Yankees kick the tires on Moose the more his market depresses. His left-handedness at 3B would be a good fit. Not sure if they have the $ for him and a SP, though.
ETA: Plus he would block a potential Machado signing in FA.
Moustakas is represented by Scott Boras. I don't think he's panicking yet.Yeah, Moose's agent is sitting there stunned that the Angels picked Cosart over his guy.
