A pool is a hole in the ground you throw money into.no ####
Every freakin' day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The rain, I can handle. The hard part thus far is getting accustom to the plants/grass/bugs etc. Oh, and owning a pool....I'm not sure I want this pool but I have it now![]()
seriously....it's not as bad as a boat in the ocean, but every few weeks there seems to be "something".rustycolts said:A pool is a hole in the ground you throw money into.

The good news is the lines aren't as long today.Grocery store was a madhouse. Figured I'd stop during lunch and pick up a couple of things, not that I had any great needs.
Lines went from the registers, back to the aisles, and all the way back each aisle to the far end of the store.Turned around and walked out.
I could have used some more D batteries. Have an electric lantern that takes 8. Most of them I have had expired dates of 2 years ago, though still have a little juice at least. The good news is the lines aren't as long today.
The bad news is all the food is gone.
Worried more about flooding.any of you guys near the coast or bodies of water where surge or flooding is an issue?
that's a lot of storm and a lot of moving water...
Saw the Euro model has some areas getting up to 4 feet of rain. Going to be horrible if that holds true.Worried more about flooding.
Not sure if I can handle 18 inches or not.

Take your political crap to the turd box. With tRump working hard on his narcissistic look at me !@#@! rallies and focus on his border wall, we start the hurricane season with no FEMA director and no NOAA leader in place. Awesome. Stay safe everyone. T's & P's. xx
Brock Long was confirmed as administrator of FEMA in June. This is the hurricane thread. Giving heads up to those in the path what they can expect with the facts.Take your political crap to the turd the box.
"facts" would have looked different than what you wrote. This is the hurricane thread. Giving heads up to those in the path what they can expect with the facts.
eg: there's currently no head of FEMA in place. hopefully not an issue in the response and clean-up here.
"Officials at NOAA are still waiting for Trump to nominate someone to lead the key weather monitoring agency. The post remains vacant -- and without a Trump nominee -- alongside dozens of other deputy, under and assistant secretary positions in the Trump administration that require Senate confirmation.Brock Long was confirmed as administrator of FEMA in June. "Remember, there is no "i" in team. But there is one in a hurricane...""Officials at NOAA are still waiting for Trump to nominate someone to lead the key weather monitoring agency. The post remains vacant -- and without a Trump nominee -- alongside dozens of other deputy, under and assistant secretary positions in the Trump administration that require Senate confirmation.
"Unrelated to those nomination woes, the National Hurricane Center is still fielding applications for a permanent director after its chief resigned in May." Must have a ton of applicants..
"But Retired Lt. Gen. Russel Honoré, who helped organize relief efforts to Hurricane Katrina in 2005 as commander of Joint Task Force Katrina, said he was concerned about NOAA having a temporary leader as the hurricane season ramps up."
"It is a concern," Honoré said. "We don't allow temporary coaches in the SEC, so why the hell are we running a federal agency with a temporary leader? It doesn't create a team."

No shame for what? Stating the fact that not every one is in place and my concern that it will be worse response than '05? Hoping against all hope that there isn't as much catastrophe as they are making it seem. Really hope I'm overreacting.Take this #### elsewhere. No shame.
You've stated it. On behalf of those of us affected by this thing, please stop there. No shame for what? Usually, the utility will preemptively shut off the grid where flooding is imminent. But it couldn't hurt to pull the breaker to the house. So if home flooding seems imminent, are you supposed to pull the circuit breaker to the house? I saw some things about elevating electrical plugs and such, but it didn't mention that step. I guess it would probably blow the moment the water hit it anyway, but better to do it yourself?
Just took pictures of my expensive stuff. Anyone else in the area, might not be a bad idea to do the same.
Reminds me a lot of Allison.Be safe, all. With this storm being projected to just sit there for the next 3-5 days, flooding is probably going to end up costing more casualties than the wind.
One of my most vivid memories of Sandy was the transformers arcing as they blew.So if home flooding seems imminent, are you supposed to pull the circuit breaker to the house? Houston is pretty much one big drainage basin, so yeah...any of you guys near the coast or bodies of water where surge or flooding is an issue?
that's a lot of storm and a lot of moving water...
Thanks for the reminder! I have a rechargable camping lantern that needs plugging in.I could have used some more D batteries. Have an electric lantern that takes 8. Most of them I have had expired dates of 2 years ago, though still have a little juice at least.
Be safe and good luck GB.
If you have any phone recharge kits, don't forget to charge those up too. Thanks for the reminder! I have a rechargable camping lantern that needs plugging in.
Feeling pretty good provision-wise. Picked up a bottle of bourbon, two 12-packs of Art Car, and two bottles of Becker Cab. Oh yeah, plus some waters.
Supposed to make landfall down by Corpus some time tonight and then meander up to Houston tomorrow. Where it decides to park or go back into the Gulf and re-strengthen is the concern.when are you guys supposed to get hit?
Yes, today probably isn't going to be too bad, even through the night.Supposed to make landfall down by Corpus some time tonight and then meander up to Houston tomorrow. Where it decides to park or go back into the Gulf and re-strengthen is the concern.when are you guys supposed to get hit?
