Are these on Prime Now?
I got some from Sams Club, but I'm dubious if they could be activated in time. You need to soak them in water to get them to swell up and form a dam. I also got a bunch of roll of 4" wide gorilla tape. If the water gets close I could seal all my doors in about 15 minutes. If I had those and used them last flood, I bet my total damage would have been more like 10K instead of over 100

Everybody ok?

Those videos from last night we're scary. Plus the videos from the hurricane.
Doing good.  One of the recent tornado warnings was probably a few miles away from me, but northwest of me and it headed northwest.

Have had about four torrential downpours now, about one an hour, but each only lasting 5-10 minutes before it blows past or dies out. No water rising in the street yet.

Winds and rain in SA nowhere near what was forecast. Has seemed like any other rainy weekend TBH. Wife is actually a little pizzed that our weekend plans got so screwed up (cancelled some outings, cant go to the store because shelves are bare). But I am greatly relieved. Was worried about flooding and wind damage based on the apocalypse forecasting. Of course, there is still time for us to eat our words if this thing managed to make a turn and push a little west. Wouldn't take much to put us in the higher bands. But as of now, we've been very fortunate.

Glad it's gone easy on you. Here's hoping it continues for all of us here.

I keep telling the wife, don't poke the bear! Count our blessings. Definitely not looking like it will go back out and build steam. So I am hoping it just sits there and dies.

Tornados touching down about 15 miles from me. Just had a crapton of rain, but the streets seem to be draining okay for the time being. Discovered a couple pinhole leaks in the roof (winds loosened a couple rusted roof nails I think) and got buckets under them up in the attic. Fingers crossed that's as bad as it gets.

Good to hear, stay safe.

Was in the middle of one of the tornado warning boxes but not sure it even touchdown anywhere. Had a few inches of rain in an hour or two. Just about the time water was starting to pool in the street in front of me, it stopped and quickly drained out too.

Thanks for posting that. I hadn't thought to go inspect my attic. Found leaks with the air conditioner exhaust, and an air vent for a bathroom. Duck tape seems to be working for one, the other I put a container under.

It's gotten really bad the last 2 hours. Water's moving up the driveway now. I'm going to shut down and move the cpu to somewhere higher.  Good luck to the rest of you.

Edit: rain stopped, thank god. Water has dropped an inch or two last half hour. Hopefully it clears before next big rain band.

The Weather Channel just shared some very good advice.  If there is a need to seek higher ground, go to the roof not the attic and if you do use the attic as an option, have tools at the ready to get out through the roof.  I worked Katrina for over three months and one of people I dealt with was a New Orleans Police Officer.  He detailed, in chilling detail, how he retreated to his attic due to the rapid rising waters.  He had a slate roof and emptied his service weapon in an attempt to get out to the roof, but failed.  Hearing a boat nearby, he swam out of his attic, through the house and got out the front door.  Stay safe down there!!!

Bigbottom, where are you located?

GregR, you still doing ok? Woke up to the news of how bad things are out your way.

Hope everyone is ok!

Yes, doing well. Raining again but the street in front of me is pretty much empty of water other than some running to the storm drain. Think I'm going to go try to crash again while the water level is low again. Only got about 2 hours of sleep last night. Setting alarm to get up and check every couple of hours, but couldn't get back to sleep after the first one.

Oh, I imagine not when it comes to sleep. I would have been the same way. Keep us updated. Certainly doesn't look like you are out of the woods yet.

Yeah, I have a leak somewhere too. Strange thing is that the third floor is dry but there's water on the second floor ceiling.

Need to watch lake conroe closely. It's just now gone over 201 feet gaining a foot of water in an hour as they had to adjust the gates.

In 2016 it went to 204 which was bad, but not biblical bad.  Conroe might not be able to hold their dam if the inrush of water gets too strong.

If there is to be a Katrina like situation it's gonna come from this lake.

ok now showing 202 feet 90 minutes ago.

I think based on what I can figure out from this dashboard is that conroe is letting out 5850 cfs but getting more than 10000cfs and downstream looking at 14000cfs +/-

This dashboard shows >204 feet of some level, but not sure if that is the lake level or what.

Either way this #### is getting really real up there right now.  I would absolutely risk getting the #### out of the way of a levee break if I was in Conroe.

Buffalo Bayou all time record is 61.2 feet.  Predicted to go to 74 feet in this event.

That's for all intents in the center of the nice part of downtown.

I live in the west side of Pearland by 288. Lots of flooding in the area, but our neighborhood is managing to hold up so far. Friendswood to our east is devastated.

I am west of beltway 8 and north of I-10 by addicks reservoir. The retention pond in my townhouse complex has overflowed but the water has not gotten up to the houses yet. Last night was not fun. Hoping for a break in the rain bands this afternoon so the water can recede a little bit. Stay safe, everyone.

Keeping fingers crossed for you. Stay safe man.

Glad to hear you're ok and hope you figure out the leak.  In about 10 hours my container filled up to maybe 30% full. And some of that was light-to-no rain so I'm going to have to keep a frequent eye on it.  Wish I could fit something bigger there but there's not much room under the bend in the pipe and the wood frame under it.

Can I assume that y'all still have power at least? Or are you using phones to post?
Power, internet, etc, all unaffected so far. A buddy from my old FF league had a tree take down his power for much of the day Saturday but they got him back up.

Yeah, same here. Except for the sporadic tornado, wind hasn't really been an issue (I know that sounds odd, but not sure how to put it better) so power lines are generally intact.

Lake conroe is over the levels where you start thinking levee breach is possible. And rising.

There will be some serious mmqb of their decision to not release some water last night.

In uncharted territory.

Take care. God Bless Texas & Houston.

Do most people in the Houston area have flood insurance on their homes and businesses? This is an historic rainfall, so many affected locations were not flood prone.

I don't know if "most" do. There are some especially flood-prone areas where it's a requirement. Personally, it's a very inexpensive insurance for what it provides so I always carry it. I would imagine there are many people that think it's a waste or cannot afford it though.

Small potatoes compared to Harvey but TS Irma might be forming in the Atlantic off the South Georgia coast ..

Barker Reservoir may overflow and flood Cinco Ranch, which could be hundreds thousands of homes

The eastern edge of that projected flood zone is about 4 1/2 miles from me.

They mentioned Addicks reservoir too on Fox26, but I don't see an alert for it. May want to keep your eyes open for one.
