*** Official 2017 Atlantic Hurricane Season Thread *** (1 Viewer)

Are we 100% sure this thing doesn't break for the atlantic?  This is more than a wobble now.

http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/PS/TROP/floaters/11L/flash-vis-long.html

It has plenty of juice to get there.

This thing had two bullets.  One was meant for Naples and one for Tampa and it looks like Irma decided to use both on Naples. Getting the NE quad of this storm deeply onshore prior to interacting with Tampa will greatly limit the capacity for catastrophic damage.

Of course, if she really does make a break for the atlantic, then well.  ####.

We sure that lake can take a direct hit?  What did they finally do? Mandatory evac south of the dam? I can't remember.

Could be like Wilma

I mean I mentioned Atlantic this morning and instantly people came out of the woodwork calling me a doomcaster.
I appreciated your info but a lot of it was ridiculous comments (armageddon or whatever you said) and I at least took some of your posts to be that you were excited by it. For somebody living through it, it was way too much.

No worries. I never take #### personal here.  For what its worth looks like your area got a good break today. Probably as good as could have been expected any of the last 3 days.

Miami store owner. Probably want to head to higher ground. Now.
At first I thought the water was midway up the doors.  Those would have been some pretty hefty seals to keep the water out. But after watching it again I think that was just an optical illusion because of the shadow in front of the building.  When he walks around to the other full-height window it's only up to the bottom of the sill.

Some dumb ### friends of ours stayed in their mobile home in Mims. Tornado did a Wizard of Oz on them picked the trailer up and then threw it down none of them hurt seriously.Probably had to change shorts I imagine.

when you catch your breathe help us understand what the heck Jose is supposed to do and how strong.
It is supposed to weaken some and literally goes in a circle for the next few days. Will need to wait 3-4 days to really see where this ends up going. As of now, the models say that after the loop it will move north of the Bahamas then gets close to the eastern seaboard but stays offshore until making landfall in New England in 10 days. This model is so far out that it really doesn't mean anything, other than Jose needs to be watched.

It would suck if this tries to tag team Florida with Irma, like Frances and Jeanne did. From people who were in the area, they say it was a month of suck!

Nhs ready to get in line with the culdeus model. They can pm me here. Or on grinder.

355 with a 005 lean. Plenty of juice on 005 to go Atlantic. Hell she gets there on 355.

East move seems to be getting even more obvious in latest run.

This thing was supposed to be knocking on Tampa Bay soon. Just saying.

Land>water she can eat a bag of docks and die right here too.
Irma has ate several bags of docks by now. That satellite loop is a bit deceiving, since you can't really see the eye anymore. If you look at radar, it appears that Irma is moving due north. And yes, east of what was forecast and good for Tampa. But also not going into the Atlantic.

Well lights are flickering getting ready do lose power and since 1 live in the 18th century no Smart Phone or even a cell phone. Just don't like phones that are smarter than me.So probably going to be knocked off pretty quick

Last update I heard on my aunt and uncle on Marco Island was from 1pm today. They were fine at that point.

Even though they're on the ocean, their building is concrete and they're on like the 7th floor. I think the biggest concern will be getting stuck there without power or water and no way out.

i'm seeing the weather guys now go into excuse mode as to why the storm surges in Florida are no where near what was predicted.  I'm not criticizing them but plenty of people will.

News was saying all of Marco island was without power. Not sure about water or getting out anytime soon.

Polk County representing.  Looks like we will get the eye wall if radar keeps on this track.

Remarkably, we still have power.  Hope we keep it so I can get some decent GoPro video during eye wall.

There are at least two people, one on a ladder, presumably taking down siding or something on a house one over from directly behind my inlaws house here in Lakeland. Granted, they're currently on the leeward side of the house, but seriously, guys?
