I'm not worked up about the ACC at all. I'm way more worked up about how stupid some of you are about this.

Or as stupid as the ACC coaches who are providing anonymous quotes about how overrated the ACC was?  But if you say it's irrelevant, then I'll disregard the actual coaches...

OK.  For those that like college basketball and punditry, this season and especially the last 2 weeks, was an outlier in over-hyping a conference.  And said conference promptly went on to do-do all over itself.  Overrated is different than pi*s-poor.

Take it from an actual ACC men's basketball coach:

"It was overrated," an ACC coach added. "I'll admit it. We won games in November and December, but most of our teams weren't that much better than teams in the other leagues."

Sorry...I didn't think you were serious.  It's tough to reconcile someone willfully watching ESPN and at the same time complaining about their hype.  It's like watching someone ram their head into a bridge abutment over and over while complaining that their head hurts.  It's tough to take that person seriously or have much empathy for them :shrug:  

Add to all that, your history and temper tantrums over Syracuse joining the ACC and I assumed it was continued shtick.

Given that the correct choice is to not care, you are correct....that's exactly what I will choose.  We used to only have to deal with this stupid conference comparison crap in the football threads.  Now this craptastic topic has filtered into the bball threads too.  I couldn't give two ####s about any of this conference talk.

 
What does it really matter at the end of the day how overhyped the ACC is/was/will be?

All I know is that teams in that conference will continue to abuse Syracuse year in and year out until boosters force Boeheim to violate rules enough just to make it into the discussion of relevance within said conference.

I was a little tipsy last night and I'm not searching through, but wasn't someone saying Kansas wasn't very impressive in the opening rounds?

If I am remembering that correctly, I have no clue what this person was watching.

 
just read the last page of this thread - classic FFA college sports thread.  imagine caring about how good/overrated/whatever a sports conference is.  not even your team, but the conference it plays in.  stupid!

 
No matter what disagreements we all have, we should be able to agree on this:

Watching Duke lose to the Cocks, in the 2nd round, when favored to win the whole tournament, after running the table in the ACC tourney was a thing of beauty that everyone enjoyed.

Wichita State saw its season end in dramatic fashion Sunday against Kentucky. The wife of Shockers head coach Gregg Marshall apparently didn’t take the loss too well.

Lynn Marshall was asked to leave the Bankers Life Fieldhouse court area about 10 minutes after the final horn for cursing and shouting, according to a report from the Associated Press. She was reportedly followed away from the court by a police officer, then was taken back to a postgame news conference.

Marshall sat in on her husband’s news conference, and at one point said, “He got fouled,” as Gregg Marshall and Landry Shamet were discussing the final play of the game.

According to Kennedy Hardman of WTVQ, arena security paid Lynn Marshall three visits during the game, and thought about having her leave but decided to be “delicate” because they knew Marshall was the head coach’s wife.

Drew Franklin of Kentucky Sports Radio tweeted out video of Marshall during the game, but said NCAA officials told him to delete the tweet. He did, but later posted it online. The video shows Marshall standing on chairs, cheering loudly, leaning over the railing in front of her, and then sinking back into her seat.

Tough But Fair: Coach K Suspends Grayson Allen For Rest Of Tourney

Moments after Duke was eliminated from the NCAA Tournament, head coach Mike Krzyzewski announced that he was suspending guard Grayson Allen for the rest of the tournament.

“Grayson’s behavior a couple months ago runs counter to the behavior I expect from men of Duke,” Coach K explained. “So, now that we know we won’t be winning the National Championship, I’ve decided that Grayson will not be allowed to participate in our quest to win a national championship.”

Allen, who was previously suspended for one game following a series of tripping incidents, said that he accepted his coach’s decision.

“Coach knows what’s best,” Allen told reporters. “Specifically, he knows what’s best for our chances of winning a National Championship. But he also knows best for teaching us lessons that in no way actually impact our chances of winning a National Championship.”

Coach K also added that if Allen returns next season, any additional tripping incidents will result in a lifelong ban from playing for Duke after his senior year.

I noticed during the game last night that those boys like to throw in a little elbow or shove after the whistle blows . Is that coached or is it just the type of players that Duke recruits?

I think someone said they were the most impressive and someone countered by saying they can't be the most impressive when they didn't play any good teams.

Gonzaga (-3) vs. WVU

Arizona (-7.5) vs. Xavier

Florida (-2) vs. Wisconsin

Baylor (-3/-3.5) vs. South Carolina

UCLA vs. Kentucky (seeing -1, +1, and pk here)

North Carolina (-7/-7.5) vs. Butler

For the :tinfoilhat:  that think the NCAA is constantly trying to screw UK, this draw doesn't do anything to allay those concerns imo.

The ACC’s poor March performance is proof the conference was overrated

"But that doesn’t really get to the core of just how bad it was for the ACC this weekend:

  • The ACC went 7-8 in the first weekend, with those eight losses coming by an average of 13.9 points. For comparison’s sake, the four No. 13 seeds lost by an average of 10.b points and the four No. 14 seeds lost by an average of 14.3 points.
  • There were 10 games decided by 20 or more points during the first weekend. Four of them involved No. 16 seeds getting beatdown. Three of them — No. 5 Virginia losing to No. 4 Florida, No. 3 Florida State losing to No. 11 Xavier and No. 8 Miami losing to No. 9 Michigan State — involved ACC teams losing.
  • There were only four top four seeds that lost this weekend, and three of them — No. 2 Duke, No. 2 Louisville and No. 3 Florida State — were from the ACC.
  • The ACC went 2-13 against the spread."


Yeah-- if I were you I'd write NBC, Fox, et al and tell them to stop writing this stuff.

blue bloods tho.  I can see an argument for both sides.  hard to watch the games with the mid-majors this weekend and think there's not a bias towards power 5 conferences.

Spicer says he agree with their views, or at least leans on them to back up his assertions.   I just posted two links today without comment.  Meanwhile, the deflection effort from the actual articles is in full force cluttering up this board with personal jabs.

I think we'd rather discuss this past weekend's action (see linked articles) and/or this coming weekend's action.
