*Official 2017 Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles* - Parade of Champions Down Broad Street! (2 Viewers)

There is a bit of chatter lately about Nelson Agholar.

Is there any chance this guy shows up in 2017?

ETA: just saw this interview and I have to say that he handles himself well - sounds like he's put 2016 behind him.

I don't know how we're going to have room for all these receivers.  Though it seems like DGB is for sure a goner.  Was really hoping that one had worked out.

Chip just got hired by ESPN to be an NFL/NCAA analyst.  Looks like no one wanted him at all to be coaching.  Kind of interested to hear his tone if he covers any Philly stuff.

It'llo be interesting to hear his tone period.  Guy had a disdain for the media.  Not that I blame him.  Philly Sports media are a-holes.

Bet he doesn't last long.  Must be desperate.  Thought he was awful on TV with the media.  I hope he goes back to college.

I don't want to see him on TV talking football. Nothing to learn from him.  Unless hes teaching lessons on how to  destroy a roster in less than 3 years.  He's the master of that.

You explained it to yourself
Yeah but is that really a good reason to really hate on the guy. I mean I know he's had a few hiccups here and there but maybe just maybe we had just too high expectations on him plus he's played QB roulette with who he's catching passes from since he got here. Hopefully now with the QB situation good we can see him at his best and more consistent. He's no Gronk but I'd take him over what a lot of other teams are throwing out there at TE.

We can only hope so. Maybe adding some actual friendly competition at his position lite a fire under his ###. I've never been a huge fan of his but I'd gladly take a good year from him finally.

Yet said was too good to a college coach takes a position covering College. I'll admit the dudes a football Junkie and if he's just talking Football plays and stuff he's really good so he should be good. The real problem is he's talks a mile a minute and it's gonna be interesting when he talks Oregon, Philly,SF stuff for sure.

the guys on Quick Slants yesterday were saying it could be a stepping stone to get back in coaching similar to how Urban Meyer did when he left Florida and then a year later was OSU's coach. Heart and healthy issues my *** with that scuz bucket.

He could also talk about how to be a bully and treat people like dog **** too...

Yes, but most other TE's in the league weren't drafted as high as 2.03.  High expectations for a pick that high are expected.

I don't really get the "hate", but I am disappointed with where he's at.  I naively am expecting a breakout year for him this year (like I do every year).

On Agholar: remember when there used to be a 3 year rule for young wr's to learn the pro game? A lot of that was adjusting to the increased passing in the NFL vs. College. That has kind of gone away with the amount of passing offenses in college. However, there still is an adjustment to the increased speed of the game, the physicality of the CB's and the length of the NFL schedule. Let's hope that Agholar has made the adjustment and lives up to the talent he showed in college.

Hope I'm wrong but I think he's a bust.  Haven't seen much to this point and he's pretty much the last chip Kelly player on the team.  With the moves we have made at wr it's hard to see him having a role

He's at best the fourth wr and I would rather see the rookies play

More so saying there's been more then a few times he's been the punching bag when something wasn't his fault yeah there are times you are disappointed with the guy though and that I get.

C'mon, you know how this city is.  If a player doesn't looking like he's giving effort, he will be destroyed.  For most of last year that was Ertz.  He would go down instantly, sometimes before contact.  It wasn't until that olé non-block against Cincy did he finally get called out by the press and then the last couple weeks he played harder.  So yes, I expect more from a talented, second round tight-end.  Show me an entire season like the last 3 weeks.

I think he gets an opportunity to earn the other starting spot outside.  The way Doug talks about competition there it almost sounds like he's rooting for him.

See I disagree here fans are fickle a lot of times. They will defend a player who should get killed for doing something wrong but never did. For example with the Phillies Utley the last year and a half had a terrible batting avg and his defense got worse yet he was Teflon compared to Howard and JRoll. Yeah I get it Howard sign a huge deal but guess what if he hadn't gotten hurt he probably puts up the numbers he should and his contract looks way better then the Tex, Pujols and Feilder deals combine. My Grandmother went to the same church as him here and every person at that church I talked too said Howard is one of the hardest working people they knew. Yeah results weren't happening on the field but he was putting his work off the field. Then you have AI which is a whole different can of worms. Wife beater, getting into fights at stores and bars etc but no fan ever ragged on him and the media especially Stephane A Smith were all AI apologist. It was basically Manny being Manny version we became accustomed with in the media in Baseball for Manny Ramirez. I'm someone who doesn't care if your Najee Goode or Tom Brady. You screw up I'm getting on you for it. I just really hate some of these fans because they go way overboard on some of these things. It's like they have to defend our reputation as a fanbase. No you don't. I guess my issue with fans is that many are so ungodly impatient. How many people last year did you see wanting Doug fired after we went on that losing streak and started struggling?

I get disappointed with players sure but some of these fans act like these guys can never make a mistake. I'd love to go to their jobs and rag on them for every little mistake they'd made then make complaints how they should be fired. It's no different then all the idiots who knew nothing about Football and it's culture after the Incognito situation. More players were upset with Martin then anything Richie did because Martin broke an NFL Cardinal rule amongst players. Airing locker room issues to the public. Or now all these people who think Kapernick is being black balled by the NFL because of what he did. No he just stinks and has been declining for awhile now. Point is you don't want me going to your work when I know nothing about it ragging on your every mistake either. I know I'm probably asking too much but people need some patience.

BGN made a list of Eagles FAs. This I'll take a stab at predicting these

List of Eagles 2018 free agents

Alshon Jeffery- Will be here either extension before next year or tag

Timmy Jernigan- Jernigan could have a great year problem is like Logan will we be able to pay him. Maybe with Douglas here he takes a pay cut

Jordan Matthews- I'd like to keep as a slot guy but we may not be able to afford him and asking price could be more then worth

LeGarrette Blount- I was doing cartwheels when we signed Blount. Probably was more excited to get him then Jeffrey honestly. I'd love to keep him on a small deal but I wouldn't be shocked if he's gone.

Chance Warmack- If he has a good year and takes a starting G spot and Kelce is traded or gets hurt for an extensive time and Seamulo starts at C I think Chance has a chance of staying. Who knows with Stout here he could stay as a back up

Patrick Robinson- Probably gone after this year and we upgrade here

Darren Sproles- Has said he'll retire

Nigel Bradham- Price and off the field issues could be the talking points here. Eagles Thin at LB so they'd may want to keep him

Trey Burton- Fipp and the coaches love Burton for his ST and he's not gonna be a Celeb replacement but Burton can have his moments. kept

Allen Barbre- Could cut him even before this season not likely to return

Caleb Sturgis- Made 87% of his FGs after a bad start on his debut a season prior. Hell likely stay

Beau Allen- Eagles had extension talks with Honey Beau Beau but died down after he was hurt. Solid back up maybe he stays on a team friendly deal

Marcus Smith- Doubt he last till cap as they have a 2M bonus if he's there on the 2nd or 3rd day to hand him

Dwayne Gratz- Still young but don't see him staying

Najee Goode- ST guy pretty good but nothing else really. Could be replaced

Matt Tobin- Not likely

Terrence Brooks- ST guy didn't play a lot of snaps. maybe he steps up and becomes another safety

Taylor Hart- moved to OL this year not likely staying

RFA

C Josh Andrews- Probably not with Wiz here

DE Steven Means- Eh had a good camp last year but didn't play a whole lot

S Jaylen Watkins- They seem to like him and he's my Co Workers sons one of his favorites to work with. Udlin loves his work ethic and Fipp loves his ST skills. Could see him staying do to the fact he's flexible in positions

ERFA

CB C.J. Smith- Id like to see him make the team and stay. Teammate of Wentz at NDST and had a nice camp and pre season last year.

WR Paul Turner- I don't see him staying. He really needs to work on his route running and with a lot of guys in front of him could get cut after camp unless we see an Agholar or Matthews traded.

Any advice on finding tickets online for my first Eagles game?  Will be coming down for either the Skins Monday Nighter or the Bears game (depends on when I can get away) and wondering if stubhub is the way to go, or if there's any better way.  Never been to a home game either so any insight on where to sit/where sucks to sit/etc specifically to the Linc would be appreciated!

For the secondary market, Seatgeek is better over Stubhub and Ticketmaster, because their lower seller fees tend to make for lower buyer prices. If you want to get the best possible seats for the lowest possible price, Craigslist the day before, or day of, is the way to go, if you're feeling adventurous. The team also puts unused visiting team and player tickets for sale at face directly from Ticketmaster the Friday before the game (if they have any.)

The Washington game is MNF so there's always plenty of season-ticket holders looking to move tickets for those weeknight games. And the Chicago game won't be one of the more desirable opponents. So for either game you will have a nice selection on the market.

If you're going to be in town before the day of the game, take the Linc Tour. Worth the $10, runs multiple times on non-game/event days. During the game, you can also get a "first game" certificate from any of the guest services booths (behind sections 121, 136, 206 & 226.)

There's really not a "bad" view in the stadium. Just some pros/cons depending on where you sit. If you spring for lower level seats, especially on the sidelines, don't waste the extra money on being in the first few rows. About rows 12-20 are the sweet spot. Close enough to the field but also a good view of the entire playing area. The closer you get to the field, there can start to be limits to what you can see. 1st row 50 yard-line is pretty awesome, except when the ball is spotted between the 30's and on your side's hash mark. The wall of players and the roving camera platforms can get in the way. Corner or end zone seats in the first couple of rows are awesome, for the 15% of the time the play is right in front of you.

If you sit in the upper level, try to avoid 233-237. You're kind of isolated and limited to just a few food and drink options, unless you want to keep going back down to the lower level.

Incredibly helpful, thanks!

Agholor will have to light it up for the rest of the offseason to have much of a shot at playing time, unless one of the following happens:

  1. Matthews gets traded, Agholor would then be an option to get the slot WR snaps, which is pretty much a starting position.  Would have competition from Burton, Sproles, Pumphrey so he'd still have to earn it.  Nelson has good quickness and can separate so I think he could do well in the slot though.
  2. Turns out Torrey Smith actually does suck, it wasn't just SF.  There's also a chance that Smith doesn't get all the snaps because he's pretty much a one dimensional downfield guy.
  3. Injury - please no.

Torrey Smith is going to be great for us.  Just a gut feeling

I think so too.  Nothing really to back it up, just a gut feeling that he's going to exceed expectations.  We've had so many WR's lately that didn't live up to them, we're due for a nice little surprise.

I think 1 should add that maybe Matthews just isn't the right fit for a slot guy in this offense.  I think we can all agree that he's pretty 'meh' as a WR in general and doesn't possess any above average skills. He may just play himself out of that role.

I'm torn on Smith.  I think he served the speed/deep threat problem we have and that could be mean a number of things to him being on the field a ton or just every other series as a threat.

My initial thoughts about the cut is are we about to make a deal with the Chiefs on one of our guys?
what one of our guys? Matthews is the ONLY trade-able WR that we have.

Doubt we go after Maclin too.  Thought about it for a minute but we are crowded as is.

Plus if Andy doesn't think he can use Maclin anymore, why would any one else want him?

Maybe's it's more they view he's really not worth $11m a year and they got to save like what 5 or 6 mil cutting him now? Never thought Maclin was worth that money and my feelers from talking to my Co workers son who was with KC when he signed and with the Eagles was Maclin wasn't gonna sign here for anything unless Chip was gone. The Jackson release it seems sent a big shock to the locker room but after Shady was cut some of the veterans who were in the middle on Chip started to stop trusting him and Shady was a guy who kind of wasn't a Chip guy and rocked his boat a little too much. Shady and DeSean were popular with the players in that locker room and Maclin was very close to both. After he saw them get let go for almost nothing he lost a lot of Trust in Kelly and didn't feel like he and others were being treated well. Thinking for my buddy seems to be if KC offered less then 11M he'd have probably taken it. Play close to home and with a coach who respected and trusted him. I liked Maclin as a person but I didn't like him as a player at 11M a year. More Versatile then Jackson but never seemed to reach his potential. I think he'd make a solid #2-3 WR on a team with a primary 1. The Eagles would be really good match but we are over crowed at WR right now with a lot of young guys and Unless a trade or two happens we don't have room for him.

Speaking of McCoy it seems he's been trying to recruit JMac to Buff and they need WR help there. Plus McDermont was the DC here when Maclin was a rookie.

At this stage in his career Maclin is heading for money or a SB. We can't offer either this season.
Yep plus He needs to go to a team where he can excel. A QB who's good with Short to intermediate routes I don't see Buff being a fit given Taylor's playing style. Been some talk about maybe Bal?

Wish Maclin would have been released earlier in the off-season.  Jeffery and Maclin would be better than Jeffery and Smith.

Actually really wish we would have just kept Maclin and never let him go to Kc. But I digress

Not agreeing with the "cut Smith and get Maclin" sentiments. They have two different skill sets. Maclin isn't a "better" Smith. He's a better Agholor. The whole reason they wanted Smith was to get someone that can get deep and behind the secondary. If you have Jeffery, Maclin and Matthews, you still need a Smith in the mix.
