Nobody says that athleticism doesn’t matter. But Mbappé is 5’10” and 161lbs.  He’s not an ideal athlete for the NFL. Even as a corner or slot receiver. He’s an ideal athlete for a soccer player.

The NFL type athletes from France play rugby. The NBA type athletes play basketball and volleyball.

But just imagine if they played soccer!

Could put 25 pounds on and probably increase speed with the right training regiment

I agree, but if yellow cards are handed out for dives, you'd see them a lot less.  Players adjust to how the game is called.  It's like in football, where defenses often figure out early how PI is going to be called that game and adjust accordingly.
100% agree

Just wouldn't love the idea of reviewing for flopping

It's a small stupid thing, but I'd love to see refs count to six when gks catch the ball..ala basketball in the back court. I just counted lloris to 12 there

If a foul was given you review it type thing. If it was a flop and the call is reversed then the RC is handed. Wouldn't be reviewed any other way though. It'd help in Penalty situations though big time as a ton of guys dive in the box to get a call.

Probably but you could save not one but 2 roster spots by having him handle pk & punting duties. Think of the fakes he could pull off

Superstar, imo
I hate the idea of giving a guy who only does trick plays a spot over a more deserving guy. Plus you already have his skillset in the NFL in Tavon Austin.

Overall despite the missed calls the ref has been pretty good. only giving a card when it's absolutely needed. Foul wise it's been a fairly solid called game despite the one hiccup

Aside from a handful of brilliant individual moments and a very well organized D, I don't think this French team every really hit their stride...not in the way Croatia did. Which is scary going forward with all these young guys...

Yeah.  Very good chance that France will be the favorite for the next 2 WCs as well.  They have a ton of young talent that is only getting spot minutes on this team that are playing for top teams in La Liga and EPL.  They might be better in 4 years.

Fantastic WC... See you then!
When you think that there are 64 games and we had maybe only 5 or 6 dog games, it really has been solid through out.

Scoring was not up (nearly identical to 2014) but it feels like there has been more scoring changes in this tournament.
