***Official*** 2018 World Cup thread (and Drinking Guide) (1 Viewer)

I’m Hendo’s biggest critic.  I’ve wanted him gone from liverpool for years.  But he was good today.  Most English pundits/former players agree.  He’s getting a lot of praise today.

I realize it’s hard to get Vardy and Kane on the field at the same time but I’d figure out a way to get it done.

I agreed with you - Henderson was good.  To put Vardy on the pitch with Kane basically changes the way they've been playing.  Why change it now after winning your first match?

File this away in the useless Trivia department, but:

Harry Kane scored his 15th International Goal in his 25th Cap.

CR7 scored his 15th goal in his 43rd Cap
Messi scored his 15th goal in his 54th Cap

Others:

Klose (29)
Villa (32)
Zlatan (33)
Van Persie (42)
Henry (44)
Lukaku (46)
Bale (49)

Ronaldo and Messi were both 18 for their debuts. Kane was 22?

We must have watched different games. I feel like you watched the ball the whole game and not what happens off the ball.
Watch the game, and you hardly see Lingard. Watch Lingard, and you see the whole game

I meant with lingard off the ball and saying vardy should have been out there. I think lingard played his position well and vardy didn’t fit into the game with what they had drawn up.

Germany, Brazil, Spain, Portugal, Argentina

Some of the big boys with 1 or 0 points. Think anyone gets clipped and doesn't qualify?
Of those the most likely one to not advance is Argentina, IMO.  They still have to play Croatia and if Nigeria doesn't play well against Iceland then they could be in serious trouble.

The rest still seem like good bets to at least make the round of 16.

I just want to mention that I love the world cup.  I have never watched a soccer match outside of the world cup, but I've watched as many matches as I can of the world cup the last three tournaments.

Germany is in the most danger. They really need to win vs Sweden - a tie puts them into a situation where Mexico and Sweden can knock them out with a dishonorable tie.  That is realistic.

Spain and Portugal the least.  Though of Iran beats one of em then one of em is out for sure.  But hard to see that happening.

In order of vulnerability:

Germany

Argentina

Brazil

Spain/Portugal

-QG

Has a dishonorable tie or something of that same nature happened before?

Im sure everyone in the knockout stages would love to not have Germany in the mix.
