***Official*** 2018 World Cup thread (and Drinking Guide) (1 Viewer)

You mean the worst national FA in the world didn't hire the right guy?  They hired a manager who likes to press high to run a team with many older players, and then Sampaoli couldn't figure out a decent lineup until the final match of the group stage, which he promptly abandoned in the next match.
No, but the USSF now has the opportunity.

I actually think Salah will fall back this season, and won't see these heights again.  I could see someone like Griezmann or Mbappe moving into that top-tier.
Kind of agree with this.  Teams will play him differently next year -- and make Mane, Firmino and the midfield beat them. [/wrongthread]

Neymar will - already has the hype.  If When he goes to Madrid he will win a Ballon d'Or.

Kane will always be considered a prolific striker, but won't be considered in the top 1-2 players.  He'll get invited to the award ceremony, but won't be s serious contender - unless England makes a deep run in this WC, and wins the Euros in a couple of years with Kane getting the Golden Boot.

Feels like I've expected Griezmann to take the next step for several tournaments now.  He is 27, I don't think it is happening.

Kane and Coutinho have both improved their standing so far.

Brazil: 7/2
Spain: 4/1
Belgium: 7/1
England: 15/2
France: 8-1
Croatia: 12-1
Argentina: 12-1
Uruguay: 22-1
Colombia: 22-1
Portugal: 25-1
Belgium looks good with those odds.  No idea why Brazil is the favorite right now - they're kind of a mess at the moment.

I still like Croatia at 12-1

Belgium is good - but untested.   But, if they beat Brazil, they will be the favorite imo.

I did not realize he was already 27.  Yeah, he would need Atletico winning La Liga, and even then it won't be enough, because I think Mbappe will steal his thunder on the national team.

4 - Lionel Messi is the only player to have delivered an assist in each of the last four World Cups. Divine.

Can you imagine if Jozy & Wood could link up the same way as Suarez and Cavani did on that goal?
