I watched the first match really quick and this was my take as well. Game could have used an earlier goal.I think it has been really positive. Just terrible finishing. There could have been two-three goals in that half.

Hard to think of a side that plays as physically while still flopping and whining about any contact on themselves. Colombia really annoys me to watch.YES!!!
Not sure if I was more nervous about someone ruining the score for me at work or during the PKs.
Colombia played so physical. Curious to go back and read the thread and see what other thoughts but it seemed obvious to me they tried to just out physical England.

Love Uruguay at those odds. Not much different than the start of the tourney if memory serves.Betting (SkyBet) Odds:

:snicker:Pickford might get to touch his first boob tonight.
Really poor today (and most days for England) - I still maintain his speed works perfectly for the formation, he just needs to have one of his good days. I think he will give Sweden fits as they don't have the speed to stay with him like Colombia did. Having said that his first touch is just so bad.Sterling is really just a waste of space on this team.
Pep deserves all the plaudits he gets for turning Sterling into a serviceable player.
Dude looked nervous as hell during the PKs, really felt for him. Called the Colombian miss though, that player looked TOO confident.:snicker:

He would be best on a team like Liverpool or Man City, where you have a lot of attacking movement, and he is one piece of that. He does nto have enough end product ot just rely on his own movement, and Kane, Dele, Lingard, don't have the same movement you see at Liverpool or Man City.Really poor today (and most days for England) - I still maintain his speed works perfectly for the formation, he just needs to have one of his good days. This was what I was waiting to read - I figured I was too being too biased but Colombia were playing like a bunch of #######s - I thought the ref had every right to send one of two of their players off.Was thinking the same thing. Could have hit two or three of them with a completely deserved 2nd yellow there.
On paper it makes sense - the best team England have to face to get to the Final is Croatia, and I would put Brazil, France and, Belgium above Croatia. So, whoever comes out of the other bracket should be favored in the final, but its tough to pick any one of those teams getting out.Third highest on 538 right now too

He's done virtually nothing going forward. He's been so-so defensively and has at least not made any mistakes.Seriously though, Young was terrible. imo
Love this. I’m throwing a hundy down at 16. If they beat France, which I think they do, love their chances. Solid d Corp there.I have them at 22/1 from some point during the group stage.
2nd best? Can't believe England is close to blowing their best chance to win a World Cup.
He clearly meant their best chance to win the world cup in July... of 2018... In Russia2nd best?
It almost never works out to throw a game for future matchups.Belgium has to be regretting that win over England a little bit. Had they lost, they’re looking at a pretty smooth path to the Final
I can only imagine what was going through most of their minds after Henderson's shot was saved.
Uruguay is very solid but they haven't really been tested like they will against France. Portugal was poor IMO and they had the easiest group.Love Uruguay at those odds. Not much different than the start of the tourney if memory serves.
I've been a tad disappointed in Dele - I said early on they would need him to go deep in the tournament - turns out they got a little lucky with the matchups so they may make the semis with him being almost completely invisible. That's why I like the England side though - they've got a stud up top in good form who is really difficult to mark and then tons of speed to burn supporting him. With a solid back 4 (with Henderson) they can play with anybody. But I still think they need Alli or someone from the midfield to step up to get to the Final. He would be best on a team like Liverpool or Man City, where you have a lot of attacking movement, and he is one piece of that. I'm guessing he threw something at a lamp after Cavani scored his 2nd. Am I close?
That's the light I ripped off of the ceiling when Portugal won the Euro in 2016. I duct taped it up and took it back for good luck...it didn't work..I'm guessing he threw something at a lamp after Cavani scored his 2nd. Am I close?

However, the light itself still worked.
Wish we could say how close to buzzer beaters they were...Have there ever been this many last minute goals in stoppage time as this WC? Incredible
Preferably socal or nor cal.Cornhole @The Gator's in 2026 to start it off?
They were fine in the first half - didn't create a lot of chances but were the better side. As Andy said they deserved to advance. I know I'm underrating Sweden but England should win.I thought England were terrible today. To be fair I didn’t watch the first half.
Horrific performance.
England twitter is acting like they’ve just won the WC. My goodness they won one game and are in the quarterfinals.
Sweden will win.
Unless Pontus Jansson starts.... then they are proper ***t.England should win.
Depends on the time of year.
MacGuire cost them today and Pickford will at some point in goal. Their whole strategy is to pack it in and hope Dele and /or Kane have a moment of brilliance. That’s fine against whom they’ve played, but a good team has places to exploit against them.I've been a tad disappointed in Dele - I said early on they would need him to go deep in the tournament - turns out they got a little lucky with the matchups so they may make the semis with him being almost completely invisible. I'm going to guess. Whiskey.I can only imagine what was going through most of their minds after Henderson's shot was saved.
The wheels have fallen off the Super Eagles since losing to Argentina. In addition to the kidnapping of the captain's dad, the Minister of Sport ordered the sacking of the FA President Amaju Pinnick. Pinnick isn't taking this sitting down and has made counter charges against his replacement Chris Giwa that may threaten Nigeria's standing with FIFA. In other news, manager Gernot Rohr is rumored to be taking over the Algeria job. And so goes Nigerian football
