Colombia played so physical.  Curious to go back and read the thread and see what other thoughts but it seemed obvious to me they tried to just out physical England.

Hard to think of a side that plays as physically while still flopping and whining about any contact on themselves.  Colombia really annoys me to watch.

Really poor today (and most days for England) - I still maintain his speed works perfectly for the formation, he just needs to have one of his good days.  I think he will give Sweden fits as they don't have the speed to stay with him like Colombia did.  Having said that his first touch is just so bad.

He would be best on a team like Liverpool or Man City, where you have a lot of attacking movement, and he is one piece of that.  He does nto have enough end product ot just rely on his own movement, and Kane, Dele, Lingard, don't have the same movement you see at Liverpool or Man City.

This was what I was waiting to read - I figured I was too being too biased but Colombia were playing like a bunch of #######s - I thought the ref had every right to send one of two of their players off.

On paper it makes sense - the best team England have to face to get to the Final is Croatia, and I would put Brazil, France and, Belgium above Croatia.  So, whoever comes out of the other bracket should be favored in the final, but its tough to pick any one of those teams getting out.

Yup.  Those odds look pretty accurate.

 
Belgium has to be regretting that win over England a little bit. Had they lost, they’re looking at a pretty smooth path to the Final

It almost never works out to throw a game for future matchups.

Uruguay is very solid but they haven't really been tested like they will against France.  Portugal was poor IMO and they had the easiest group.

I'm not a gambler so don't really know much about odds so I can see why someone would maybe like them but to me them being last of the four in that half is accurate.

I've been a tad disappointed in Dele - I said early on they would need him to go deep in the tournament - turns out they got a little lucky with the matchups so they may make the semis with him being almost completely invisible.  That's why I like the England side though - they've got a stud up top in good form who is really difficult to mark and then tons of speed to burn supporting him.  With a solid back 4 (with Henderson) they can play with anybody.  But I still think they need Alli or someone from the midfield to step up to get to the Final.

That's the light I ripped off of the ceiling when Portugal won the Euro in 2016. I duct taped it up and took it back for good luck...it didn't work..

However, the light itself still worked. 

 
I thought England were terrible today.  To be fair I didn’t watch the first half.

Horrific performance. 

England twitter is acting like they’ve just won the WC.  My goodness they won one game and are in the quarterfinals.  

Sweden will win.

They were fine in the first half - didn't create a lot of chances but were the better side.  As Andy said they deserved to advance.  I know I'm underrating Sweden but England should win.

MacGuire cost them today and Pickford will at some point in goal.  Their whole strategy is to pack it in and hope Dele and /or Kane have a moment of brilliance.  That’s fine against whom they’ve played, but a good team has places to exploit against them.

The wheels have fallen off the Super Eagles since losing to Argentina.  In addition to the kidnapping of the captain's dad, the Minister of Sport ordered the sacking of the FA President Amaju Pinnick.  Pinnick isn't taking this sitting down and has made counter charges against his replacement Chris Giwa that may threaten Nigeria's standing with FIFA.  In other news, manager Gernot Rohr is rumored to be taking over the Algeria job.  And so goes Nigerian football :rolleyes:
