***OFFICIAL 2018 YANKEE THREAD*** Gleyber Day (1 Viewer)

This is what we're reduced to? An in-season Hot Stove thread? LOL.

I'm totally fine with the team sucking for a couple of years, as long as there is a plan in place. I think most of you would agree. But standing pat and not selling, pretending this team is a contender, is ludicrous.

Also, I'm sick of looking at pinhead Eovaldi. Throw another dead-straight 98 mph heater. It's bound to work one of these times.

And Randy Levine is the worst human being ever.

I was awaiting your return from Mike land :lmao:

Shady has had more pressing issues and TI was our other cornerstone unfortunately.

I agree on them sucking... you need to start turning your audio talents to fileting Randy Levine in the absence of Francesa summer.  That guy is really starting to annoy me.

"We KNOW what we're doing"

Mushnick did a great job tearing him apart yesterday

I will update the title :lmao: I was thinking about this the other day but didn't realize how quiet it got.

If they somehow make the playoffs, Girardi should be a lock for Manager of the Year.

Has there ever been a team that did a firesale then went to the playoffs anyway?

I heard one of the YES announcers (not Michael Kay) float the idea of calling Sanchez the "Sanchize."

No. No. No, you idiots. Don't jinx this kid like that.

Though I did like the idea of waiting on the first time he picks a fight with a Red Sox to call him "The Dirty Sanchez." :lmao:

The boys take the first two from the division-leading Jays and it's crickets in here?

We had a fire sale and they're pushing for a division title!

Now, I don't think they'll win it, but if they get a wild card....how amazing would that be?

At least they've been fun to watch down the stretch here. Still don't see them making the playoffs, but at least there's some hope.

Rays try to intentionally walk Sanchez with Garner on third, and he lunges out and hits the ball anyway for a sac fly. :lmao:

Awesome.

7 in a row with a 3 game sweep of the Jays and series against the Os and Red Sox to come.

Some said it'll be easier for them to win the division than the wildcard because of their schedule.

Can you imagine if they win the east? It'd be one of the most epic division wins in MLB history.

Jeter Day on May 14th.  #2 getting its rightful place in Monument Park along with a plaque.

#allsingledigitsnowretired

Cash is comparing Chance Adams to David Cone.  Poor kid, what an albatross.

Still, as pumped for a season as any in a while, some dynmanic young guys here.

Adams has never been a hyped prospect but he was outstanding at two levels last year.   It'll be interesting to see whether he or Kaprielian makes it to the rotation first.

Disappointed didi will miss the first month. He was starting to look like an all star. They'll miss him. Glad they didn't panic and call up torres.

This is the worst start imaginable. 1-4, tanaka looking shaky, Sanchez to the dl, Bird 1-16 and injured foot, and kaprellian possibly serous injury

Montgomery is very enjoyable to watch. This may change against better lineups but he seems poised early and knows how to work
I appreciate pitchers who don't flash 98mph fastballs but just confuse hitters with a vast array of precision pitches. Reminds me of the Moose.

I bet he lasts a long time too, both because he's precocious with his pitching smarts, and because his arm won't rip apart in 3 seasons like 50% of the league.

It wouldn't be surprised if guys like Montgomery become the next vogue player that teams looks for. Right now everyone is so in love with high 90s fastballs, but all those power pitching guys are destroying themselves so fast. The other day someone on YES mentioned that upwards to 4 pitchers were going on the DL for arm issues a day last season. That's effing insane. It's led the Dodgers to try to keep something like 8 starters on their active roster to rotate in and out. But that won't work for most teams because of 1. roster management. 2. Finding and keeping 8 guys worthy of a rotation spot on an MLB team.

Teams need to re-appreciate guys like Montgomery, imo, and stop pushing people to hurl their arms off their shoulders.

Also we've found our starting right fielder for the next 10+ seasons. Judge is turning into a franchise foundation type player. I'm not saying this will happen, but I can see him maturing into the next Yankees captain. He has the character; he's just a great great kid who is universally loved in the lockerroom. I bet he'll develop the leadership skills as he matures over the next couple years.

In Pittsburgh today to see him pitch

I love Austin Romaine too. What an embarrassment of riches the Yankees have at catcher right now.

If Romaine keeps this hitting up (he's hitting .324!), he could make fantastic trade bait soon. No team needs a backup catcher who's very good defensively and can hit. It isn't fair to Romaine to keep him on the bench too. There's no way in hell he's supplanting Sanchez, so maybe he can be dealt for a starter or AAA starting prospect.

For the first time in several years, this team is actually fun to watch. Glad to see them off to such a nice start despite Didi and Sanchez being out (and Bird struggling so badly)

At some point, teams are just going to stop throwing Judge fastballs. Hope he adjusts instead of going in the tank like he did last year.

I'm still being cautious because all their veterans who we all thought sucked (ellsbury, Castro, headley, romine, and even torreyes) are playing way above their head imo but in a few weeks we get back sanchez and didi! If pineda, severino, and Montgomery pitch like this all season then we are obviously a contender but I'm cautious.

I never hated buck but boy is it fun to stick it to him... fun night I hope they finish it.  Not a lot of ten run comebacks in history, I think I was at the last one vs. Texas, Posada hit a walkoff
