***OFFICIAL 2018 YANKEE THREAD*** Gleyber Day (1 Viewer)

Chance Adams
That's the hope.

If the playoffs started to today, Joe would have to start Severino. If Tanaka can fix himself (AGAIN), he has potential to be a good #2, with Pineda at #3? Does anyone actually trust Pineda yet? I don't. Except for Severino, it seems like this staff is fine at shutting down mediocre & struggling lineups, but a good one like the Os tends to crush them.

ETA: even if Sanchez gets hot (and he will), and we get Bird back at 1st and call up someone at 3rd, I still think they're a dominant starter or two away from a WS run. Severino is looking like he'll be our frontline guy for a long time. After him? Pineda scares me. Tananka is a crap shoot. Sabathia is having a hard-working admirable late career, but his ceiling is a good #3, like Pettite was in '09.

Imagine this starting lineup for a divisional series -

1. Severino

2. Pineda

3. Sabathia.

4. Tanaka? Montgomery?

It's not bad, but it won't carry us past the Astros.

It's a shame Brian Mitchell got hurt last year. I was convinced he'd develop into a good #3 starter, but he's taken a step back, either physically or mentally. I hope it's just mentally. That guy was tearing it up in Spring Training in '16.

In Other News - What do you think Joe can/will do when Ellsbury comes back? How do you possibly sit Hicks, who's developed into a 2-spot hitter and all around All-Star level player? Ellsbury's damn contract almost demands he regain the CF spot, but hell if Hicks doesn't deserve it. This is a better team with Hicks as an every day starter. Then they have Frazier and Fowler tearing it up in AAA. The writing has to be on the wall for Ellsbury, right? We can't trade such a terrible contract so they're going to have to release him and eat the money, either this year or before '18.

I just can't see how you make Hicks a 4th OF again, rotating in and out with Ellsbury and Garner? No way he takes Judge's playing time. What a pickle.

Sorry to Hipple this thread with a post 'splosion, but here's some info on Chance Adams -

+ Fastball ranked 65 (94-95mph)

+ Slider ranked 60

Better than average Changeup ranked 55

Average curveball (his fourth pitch is MLB average!) ranked 50.

He also led the Minors in 2016 in winning percentage (13-1, .929) and opponents' average (.169) while ranking second in WHIP (0.90).

Wow. That's a lot better than I thought.

2017 AAA = 3-2, 2.17 ERA, 29.0 innings pitched with only 11 walks and 34 strikeouts.

They guy may be ready within the month.

There's no place in the rotation for him without an injury. Getting tanaka right is more important and the other 4 are pitching too good.

I also love Chad greens stuff. He might be better in the bullpen though.

Meh, give him a couple starts while they rescrew Tanaka's head back on. Chad Green isn't a long term answer. Chance Adams might be.

So much fun to watch this team. It's really gotten me back into baseball after 5 or 6 years of luke warm interest.

Now let's just get bird healthy and gleybar out of Scranton (lovely place to go to college but likely quite boring for a future MLB star)

I had no idea Judge was leading in two of the three triple crown categories, and is in second for RBIs.

He can't possibly keep this up all season, right? RIGHT?

The guy is playing Ruthian right now. Better than Ruthian, because he's also a wonder out in the field too.

Holy crap, I just saw the lineup. When Refsynder is leading off you have problems.

Why the hell is Joe batting Judge in the 2 hole?

Chris Carter betting 5th! Holy hell...

2/3rds of the OF is off.

SS is off.

Catcher is off.

Are there a bunch of injuries I don't know about, or is Joe just like 'screw this game.' ?

Manaea is pretty dang tough on lefties (383 OPS on the year). Sure that contributed to Gardner and Didi getting a day as well.

It may be a 5 game losing streak, but they've been in all those games and many were decided by a late run or two.

This team isn't regressing or even getting cold. Hedley is hitting .300+ in June so far. Sanchez is hitting again. They're all just worn out.

Joe did the right thing yesterday giving all those guys off.

It ain't all smooth sailing all season. You hit a storm now and then. Fortunately they were able to sail smooth long enough to feel good about themselves as expert sailors, they established themselves as one badass ship, so this won't crush their confidence and sink the ship. Man this metaphor is really tortured. Point is, I'm glad this losing streak happened in late June than in late April.

West Coast trips from hell were common even during the dynasty years.  This is what I'm telling myself to stop from banging my head on my desk! :)

Gleybar Torres tore up his elbow sliding headfirst into home. Needs Tommy John on his non throwing shoulder. Didn't even realize they did that.

Looks like Hedley at 3rd for the rest of the year

I hope they keep Ronald Torreyes in the Bronx for a long time. He's the kind of scrappy, 110% effort utility guy every team needs. And he can hit. Even better in the clutch. Players root for him. They feed off his energy and drive to win.

I just got The Show 17 for PS4.

Pretty disappointed that none of the Yankees' star prospects they traded for last season are in the minor league rosters. Tyler Austin is there. Refsynder too. But no Clint Frazier, no Torres, no Blake Rutherford, no Mateo, no Chance Adams.

That's how all major league games are. Until they appear in the majors they are not part of the union and thus cannot appear in the game. Just download complete rosters from someone.

Hes plays all over. He will most likely play 2B vs righties. Didi is the SS for the next few years
i have castro in magic baseball, so grabbed him in the hopes i get some quality ab's at 2nd.  he's listed as a ss.  thx for the info.  you think he'll sit against lefties?
