We lost power just before noon. I gave it a while for the storm to pass before thinking about firing up the generator. As soon as I rolled it out of the garage, power came on. It was out for just over 4 hours.
No damage, just a lot of limbs and leaves everywhere. It’s going to be several days of just cleaning up the yard and scooping out the pool. All in all, we fared very well.
Now for some ranting.
Someone in our neighborhood posted on Facebook about seeing a family of six, four kids, out walking and climbing on downed trees, while we were still getting Tropical Storm winds. Naturally the mom of the group outed herself as the person and proceeded to lash out on the “shaming” and telling the woman to mind her business. She then posted several pictures of her kids climbing on the trees.
This devolved into two sides of bickering. Sigh. People. Of course, I agree with the OP, that’s just irresponsible and dangerous.
Secondly, there are a mess of people online complaining about being without power or their cable being out. People asking if there’s any place open to eat, and people complaining about being bored.
I hate these people. Everyone loaded up on supplies and snacks. The fact that you don’t have power or, god forbid, cable the same day as the storm ... oh the horror! Read a book, play cards, talk to your kids! Eat the damn food you have, don’t drive out looking for a place to eat.
