*Official 2020 Philadelphia Eagles Thread* Humanity will never recover from the most horrible event to happen in the last 100 years: Doug Pederson pla (5 Viewers)

Great.

Andre Dillard suffered a biceps injury in practice today ... they’re hoping there’s not a tear in it .... he was already dealing with a shoulder strain
Welp, sounds like he tore it and is going on IR. On the bright side, Peters is there, and probably a better LT than Dillard right now. But boy, depth is basically nothing now, and RG is a major question mark.

I’m beginning to understand the Hurts pick more and more everyday.

Terrible news. (I just drafted Miles Sanders in a FFA league.) :(
Its possible that Sanders could actually benefit fantasy wise, could lead to more check downs.

ETA: It might actually not hurt the team at all. We have no idea if Dillard was going to be any good. We know Peters can be a good LT.

True. 'Tis a PPR league. Not as much time for developing deep routes. Gotta feel for the Eagles. They were awfully banged up last year and now this? Terrible news for them, their fans, and skill players.

How is your secondary looking this year?
We have Slay. That's about it.
I think it's been encouraging to hear multiple reports out of camp that Maddox has looked good and seems to be entrenched as the #2. NRC has also received tons of praise by the beats as being a key acquisition that might have been overlooked as he has impressed. The moving of Mills to Safety also has been going well. There haven't been any observations that he's out of his depth or struggling to adapt.

Not sure what McLeod has left and depth is, again, an issue as Jones has pretty much been written off as a contributor and Douglas has been his boom-or-bust self. LeBlanc seems to be the only decent option should we need to go to the bench for a CB. The reports on Wallace's long-term prospects have been optimistic and Parks seems to be a decent back-up.

With no preseason it's the same story as the DLine vs OLine where we are left wondering if the DL is really good based on the camp reports, or if it's the OL that stinks (aside from it being a general mess due to injuries and guys moving positions.) The skill position players on offense have been having a good camp, but who knows if it's because we might really have something there versus it being because the secondary is bad.

Hard to not like this organization. Heard the responses from Wentz and McCleod on why the Eagles chose to practice when some teams chose to cancel practice . Just refreshing hearing well thought out ideas, good team chemistry, and an organization actively involved from top to bottom

ETA: listening to Birds with Friends, they brought up Carson's response from 2018 with the White House visit. Real nice to compare that with his response the other day, just nice to see a kid mature well and grow as a person/leader too

I’m so sick of the injuries. Is this where we start firing strength and conditioning staff?  When does it all end?

Sobering stat: with Pryor moving to a starter, all of the non-starting Offensive Linemen on the current roster have a combined 3 NFL regular-season snaps.

We may finally have some receivers that can get open and make plays, but Wentz will be too busy running for his life to get the ball to them.

LT Matt Pryor
LG Isaac Seumalo
C Jason Kelce
RG Jason Peters
RT Jordan Mailata

Good thing we needed a QB in round 2 instead of OL depth.

Here's how I think this went down: Peters wanted to be a starter, but no starting offers at tackle came up. Maybe a few "compete for the job" opportunities were out there, along with salary that would reflect that, so he wasn't keen on them. And the Eagles weren't looking to bring him back as a starter because they have to commit to Dillard at this point. So with no starting role available, Peters probably just decided to wait and see if the Eagles got a better look at Dillard and panicked, or another team had an LT go down that needed a starter to step in ASAP. But then Brandon Brooks went down and it gave him two things he still wanted: a starting job and staying in Philly.
Well, turns out that team was the Eagles...AFTER signing Peters. JP stayed at RG today followed by reports he won't move to LT unless he's paid like a LT.

Agree, but at the same time they've said that they were going RB if not for Hurts at that pick.

And also, with this O-line, we might need Hurts to play if Carson gets hurt.

Drafting Hurts instead of upgrading the oline was the right move so he can play after Wentz gets injured because they didn’t upgrade the oline?

oof

Never said drafting Hurts was the right move.  I didn't and don't like it.  I was making sense of BigBoy's post.

Either way, we weren't looking at OL in the 2nd round there.  We didn't have 40% of our OL out for the year at that point.

Paying Cooper and drafting Lamb, watching Byron Jones walk and your OL disintegrate, holding out on paying Dak while the market goes up. JJ sharkin :lmao:

Yea, I dont think any fan here will disagree that the Hurts pick was puzzling as hell.  But I don't think anyone was beating the drums for OL there either - you ideally want a starter in the 2nd round, and we didn't know we'd lose both Brooks and Dillard then.

If we had more time, I'd see if Lane Johnson can play LT, and start Driscoll at RT. Or start seeing if Driscoll can play out there. Sounds like we're giving Mailata the first chance at it though.

At least we got a QB who can escape and is some what mobile though. Foles or someone similar good luck they may not last 4 weeks behind that line

We got Driscoll's teammate Prince who can play LT. I'd like to see what he could do honestly

So Yannick went for a '21 2nd and a conditional 22' pick. Not as bad as I thought the price was. I know we got other pressing issues but adding Yannick to the DL would've helped IMHO. Heck If I knew we were taking Hurts in April I'd have sent that 2nd for Yannick in a heartbeat.

Meh, you pay that price and then have to franchise him next year if a long term deal can't get done.  This kind of move gives the player all the leverage and he's been a pain in the ### for another team already.  I'm OK we passed.

...

As a fellow Aussie I would love to see Mailata get a shot, but not if it's going to remind me of Winston Justice.  Sucks that JP pulled the "well, I could move back to LT... if you double my salary" move, but I think they have to suck it up and do it.  Based on JP's creaking body last year that will still give them reps and / or games to test out Mailata or Prince TW.

That way, it's last year's line with Pryor subbing in for Brooks.  Still looks better than the alternatives to me.

Report says expected to miss 4 weeks. Hurt his shoulder tackling a defender on a Jalen Hurts interception.
At least it's not a lower body injury, those tend to linger.  Hopefully Reagor comes back Week 2 or 3 and gets going from there.

Roster Prediction

QB (3) Wentz, Sudfeld, Hurts

RB (3) Sanders, Scott, Clement

WR (6) Jackson, Reagor, Arcega-Whiteside, Ward, Hightower, Watkins

TE (3) Ertz, Goedert, Togiai

OL (9) Peters, Seumalo, Kelce, Pryor, Johnson, Driscoll, Tega Wanogho, Mailata, Herbig

DE (6) Graham, Barnett, Curry, Sweat, Ostman, Toohill

DT (4) Cox, Hargreave, Jackson, Ridgeway

LB (6) Gerry, Riley, Edwards, Taylor, Bradley, Singleton

CB (6)  Slay, Maddox, Roby-Coleman, LeBlanc, James, Douglas

S (4) McLeod, Mills, Parks, Wallace

ST (3) Elliot, Johnston, Lovato

-----------------------------------------

PUP / IR: Jeffrey, Brooks, Dillard, Hall

RB is light, but just don't see anyone else having done enough to justify a spot.

You could make a case for Burnett @ WR IMO, but over who?

Would be surprised if Togiai was active Week 1, think they could add a vet and have him on PS

6 DEs is lot, but they've all earned it IMO. Even Miller but for the competition.

Had Rasul make it as he gives some outside depth and played 3rd most ST snaps last year.  Can't make the club in the tub Sid.  Going by comments, seems like Schwartz is way over him as well.  Could also see Grayland Arnold there instead.

Next years 4th is the one we traded for Genard Avery.  Super cool we won't even remember who he was by then.

They saw some of what he could do yesterday:

Prince Tega Wanogho

Lining up as the second-team left tackle, Tego Wanogho struggled mightily when it came to his pass protection. The sixth-round draft pick was called for a holding penalty after he bear-hugged Casey Toohill. Toohill later set up Tega Wanogho by taking a jab step to the outside before taking an inside rush, beating the left tackle in what would have been a sack. Tega Wanogho was regarded as a project with high upside, but he is not suited to be the starting left tackle at this time.
