*Official 2020 Philadelphia Eagles Thread* Humanity will never recover from the most horrible event to happen in the last 100 years: Doug Pederson pla (3 Viewers)

BTW looking ahead at the matchup next Sunday, I have no idea what to make of the Steelers.  They're 3-0 but the opponents they've beaten are a combined 1-11   🤢  Their strength is obviously the defensive front which can and will get to Carson a lot.  He better get rid of the ball quickly.  The secondary is meh but they will shut the run down and get to Carson.  Watt might be the best defensive player in the league.

On the other side, the offensive line is not that good and we all know Ben is a statue.  I expect the Eagles to get a ton of pressure on him (probably cause a few more turnovers) but I'm hoping Connor can have a big game.  The receivers (as always for the Steelers) are pretty damn explosive (especially if Diontae is back from his concussion).  The rookie WR Claypool already looks like he's going to be a borderline stud.  It should be a one score game IMO.
Back to back away games for us, with no one healthy left, and Steelers coming off of a bye.  Ugh.

Well technically a "half-bye". 😉   But I get your point.  My point is that the Steelers may not be as good as people think.  They've beaten 3 stiffs.  And we know that the Eagles always play up to their competition (and of course down to their competition).  The Eagles D line is still very strong and the O line for the Steelers is one of the bigger weaknesses.  That's why I'm predicting one score game.

Why only a half-bye?  haha.  They didn't even leave Pittsburgh did they?

Because the league didn't announce that it was postponed until around Thursday I believe.  Up until then, they were practicing and preparing with the assumption that they would have a game against the Titans that week.  A true bye would be getting the entire week off, right?

I dunno, I guess.  But they got to stay at home and all that happened was they practiced tues/weds.  Still a lot of time off and no travel.

Against the softest of prevent defenses. I blame Schwartz for that more than I do the players.
why blame? It worked. They won. If the 2 pt conversion had succeeded we prob would have had different defensive plays called.

All he had to do was stand still and catch it, he barely had to move. Any backup LB would have made that play.
Listen, when you have had some of the stone-handed D players we have had the last few years, it's a BIG DEAL when one of them doesn't screw up a gimmie. I think that's what we're celebrating.

Loved Malcom, but "INTs that bounced off his hands" were as regular an occurrence as a JP false start. And don't get me started about the cinder blocks on the end of Nigel Bradham's arms...

John Clark is reporting that Gov. Wolfe will be announcing new guidance today for public events, including sports, that may allow for some fans at the Linc.

Real gutsy win for Phili.  They won this on effort & not talent IMO.  To slug it out with S.F. was amazing to watch.

congrats.

Btw the 2 point conversion changed the whole complexion of the game. It put the Niners on tilt right away and ended up dictating how the end game would go.

15% capacity, up to 7.500 people,  is now allowed by the state, but I think it is still up to Kenney and Farley what happens in Philadelphia.
eta- No change on policy will take place on Friday (when Wolf's order starts), but an update on plans will be provided on Oct.13. That's five days before the next home game.

The pass to Fulgham I watched at least 20x. Little concerning the 3rd string QB came to throw like 96% completion tho.

8 Wins gets this division, and thats a high estimate at this point. But we all still have to play each other a bunch still.
Helps when your DC plays a non aggressive prevent defense most of the game. To Compare to Den who doesn't blitz much they saw something against the Jets and Fangio who isn't known for blitzing a lot blitzed a ton. Difference between an Avg Defensive and an Above avg Defensive guy is the ability adjust. Schwartz is way to set in his ways. If this ends up being a dead season the first person who should be pink slipped is Schwartz. Dude has cost us at least 3-5 wins (maybe more) over the last year and a half with this soft defense BS. Jim Johnson would've brought the house on these two back ups Sunday Night

certainly not a stout defense, but i think that speaks more to the "standards" we apply to the defenses across the teams. there are a couple of really good defenses that show up every game, but most are average or worse. so far this season even the defenses that should be elite have struggled here and there, so statistics are probably skewed to the lower side. the ESPNites were talking about this yesterday (maybe NFL Network, I forget), how before week 1 they all predicted Defenses would be ahead of the Offenses because of the lack of preseason, but it has been the opposite.
Lack of pre season and it helps that most rules favoring the offense then it does the Defense. I've said for a few yrs now these "Safety Rules" are nothing more then CYA's that really don't do much just give the NFL a good argument if a former player who's playing now tries to sue them as well as the fact NFL has partnerships with fantasy and gambling sites they want more offense so these rules favor up tick in scoring. I remember when I started playing fantasy football 14 yrs ago if your QB could avg 20-25 PTS per week you were solid and had an RB or two that was a consistent bell cow you'd win a lot of games. Now unless you got a qB who can get you 30-35 a week and your RB can't get you 25 or more a week you are screwed. A lot of the players hate these safety rules too. I remember reading an article on Bleacher Report or something a few yrs ago when the NFL started fining more for helmet to helmet that offensive players told defenders hit them high. They'd pay the targeting fine for them just don't go after their knees. Would rather be able to walk the rest of their life.

It's so weird. Statistically, the Eagles defense is in the top 10 in most categories but they just don't feel like a good defense.
I feel we get pretty lucky on D at times. The Offense giving up short fields doesn't help but the defense hardly ever creates turnovers and if our Front 4 isn't getting pressure we're in for a rough day. I would just like my Cordinators and HC to be willing to adjust to circumstances and it seems Schwartz doesn't do that. I remember reading and hearing that when the Eagles Secondary got decimated Schwartz didn't do anything to help the young guys out. Udlin and the other DB coaches simplified everything for the DBs which apparently Schwartz went ape SH** on Corey for accusing him of undermining him. It's why when Schwartz didn't get the Browns job and Udlin left this year I wasn't surprised. Those two have never gotten along. JS is very set in his ways.

Or Corners who don't turn around for an easy pick

This was a really good NFL Week for me. I won both my fantasy match ups that were decided by both games last night (One was against a buddy of mine who I really wanted to prove he's playing in the big boy fantasy league now), The Eagles got their first win, the rest of the NFC East lost and Dal got boat raced out of Jerry World and NE lost to Andy Reid and KC. The moaning and complaining about calls not going the Patriots way by NE fans is just icing on the cake.

They said it starts Friday however the Mayors of both cities still have their own city guidelines and can still enforce the no fans allowed at all rule
Acc to this from last week, there is no issue at their local level. So, it would hinge on whether the org'n could get ready in time. Since they seem to have been preparing for awhile (though didn't know the exact # allowed in), my guess is fans will happen this week.

"Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald said any decision to allow fans at Pittsburgh Steelers and University of Pittsburgh football games will be made by the Pennsylvania Department of Health and not local officials"

Thats weird Eagles Wire said it was still up to the mayor and Les Bowen added this

Gov. Wolf has amended coronavirus restrictions, so that as many as 7,500 fans could be allowed at Eagles or Steelers games. HOWEVER, the city’s restrictions would still stand in the way of the Eagles having fans at Lincoln Financial Field, for now.

Last sentence in Eagles Wire

Eagles games at Lincoln Financial Field are classified as private events, and not public events and yet “local authorities” still have the right to ban fans from the stadiums per Philadelphia Managing Director Brian Abernathy.

I'm speaking about the Steelers, not Eagles.I don't see anything weird about it. Allegheny County is deferring to the state, probably because they are open to opening. Philly will not implement Wolf's changes on Friday, but will review and provide an update on October 13.

Nah. Jon Ritchie broke down the 2 point play. He said the Eagles knew before the ball was snapped that it would work based on how the Niners lined up.
No I just mean going for 2 after an early TD.  Chip made that famous back at Oregon.

49ers released WR Sanu today who played for NE last year. Its more they had guys at the position coming back. Don't think it'd Hurt to bring him in for a few weeks maybe. Better then running all no name guys out there.

Heard an interesting stat today not sure how true it is. But amongst our division we lead the division in Sacks of the opposing QB.

We definitely padded our stats in that Cincy game, similar to the Jets game last year, but I'm hoping that (and the SF game) were a sign the DLine is finally into game shape and we're seeing their true potential because it will be sorely needed to help cover our many other deficiencies.

No thanks. The Pats are the only other team that needs WR difference-makers as badly as we do. And if the Sith Lord was still willing to eat the sunk cost of the 2nd-rounder and cut Sanu loose, that tells me all I need to know about his prospects.

ETA: If we're looking for a difference-maker, I'd give Cinci a buzz and see if we can shake Auden Tate loose for a 6th or 7th. It looks like he's gotten buried on the depth chart with Higgins' arrival but IMO the kid could have a bright future somewhere.

Nathan Gerry Apologized for racial tweets he sent out IN 2012 and other yrs. Gerry said that isn't who he wants to be nor is that person. I think it's pretty bad that people have no lives they go back and try to get someone on some gotcha moments and plus it's pretty hypocritical as well because I still see numerous athletes even professionally still tweeting with some variation of the N slur and other stuff. Gerry was 12-14 yrs old btw when these tweets came up for those wondering.

MORALE OF THE STORY: Don't post dumb stuff on social media and when you are a professional and if you are one of those who goes searching for gotcha moments you are just as bad if not worse for trying to ruin people's lives over incredible old tweets

Morale #2: If you are a current athlete doing this stuff stop you will lose your job these days plus you don't want to give detractors momentum in the great social justice cases you've all led. It just gives them new ammo to use against you and the league plus It makes you look like an idiot yourself.

Just imagine thinking a LBer who can’t cover a LT could cover a WR 1 on 1 with the game on the line.

Its odd to see what Wentz can look like with a WR that can catch too.

Sucks we lost but it feels like a moral victory.

And when you watch Fulgham play how in the F¥#K can you justify trotting JJAW out there every week?!  Evaluation and coaching have plagued this team ever since the SB.
