Official 2022 college football thread: its conference realignment season. (3 Viewers)

My god, Bo Nix is atrocious. Oregon sucks. This is good for them to endure. Shows how far they are behind a good program. Alarming how big the gap is.
Allow me to make a sweeping generalization too. High school football in Oregon is pretty terrible. I'm a high school official and am in my second year out here and have seen plenty of the big schools now. Compared to the Minneapolis/St. Paul suburbs, these programs are a joke in terms of talent and number of players. And Minnesota isn't exactly a football hotbed.

Not helping Oregon and Oregon State when there's basically no home-grown kids worth much.
A few years ago, the Tampa Bay area sent more kids to D1 than the state of Oregon. They have to pull studs from Cali to succeed.

Tough to build elite speed in Birkenstocks.

ETA it was such a cool, new brand 15 years ago…

Ouch

Thinking I might get some action in the late games, Boise St/Oregon St or Kent St/Washington....anyone betting? What are we thinking?

We’ll, progress for sure. The defense in particular did a really good job for most of the game. Ohio State’s last TD probably shouldn’t have happened with a blown call on 3rd down, so the defense gave up ~14 points? Couldn’t ask for much more than that.

The offense is clearly disappointing still. The Kellyball was on full display in the second half and needs to go. Really disliked retaining Rees and this is exactly why. Kelly’s offense must go.

Freeman will spend the next week answering for Golden’s double safety blitz for the go-ahead TD. ND never recovered and it was a really really bad call and odd timing. Future looks brighter under Freeman, though.

I am so despondent over Oregon. That was a complete undressing.
Huge talent disparity. That's one reason Mario Cristobal left. In Miami, he has a chance to compete for the best talent.
Oregon is 7th in the country in talent from recruiting rankings. Granted UGA is #2 but the gap isn’t as big as what we saw yesterday.
Unfortunately, it probably is. UGA's backups would be a top 10 team
I think the UO coaching staff owns partial blame. Tosh Lupoi was a great recruiter at Bama…but not a good DC. Jury’s out big time on Lanning.

Also made the baffling decision to hire FSU’s OC when

A) he didn’t call plays at fsu
B) fsu was terrible
C) he missed out on a bunch of recruits

No idea why Lanning hired him.

Feel good football story…

Jake Moody, the PK for UofM was on my son Jack’s baseball team that I coached for 10 years. He’s using his NIL to donate $300 per FG to Mott hospital where Jack received most of his treatments. ❤️

I had a friend that was personally impacted by pediatric cancer. So it's very true to me, and I just kind of want to help out as much as I can.

Was wondering if he was talking about your son. GB
