Official 2022 college football thread: its conference realignment season. (3 Viewers)

I am so despondent over Oregon. That was a complete undressing.
Huge talent disparity. That's one reason Mario Cristobal left. In Miami, he has a chance to compete for the best talent.
Oregon is 7th in the country in talent from recruiting rankings. Granted UGA is #2 but the gap isn’t as big as what we saw yesterday.
Unfortunately, it probably is. UGA's backups would be a top 10 team
I think the UO coaching staff owns partial blame. Tosh Lupoi was a great recruiter at Bama…but not a good DC. Jury’s out big time on Lanning.

I will be betting the max in BYU in 2 weeks unless I see some drastic improvement against E. Wash and even then I'll probably load up on the mormies. That was as pathetic a performance as I have ever seen from this program. I know Georgia is in a different class but my god, Oregon wasn't even remotely competitive. If Bo Nix is the best QB on the roster then everything we've heard about great talent recruitment is garbage. He sucks. I kinda knew he sucked, but not that much. My god, his arm strength is like Charlie Hough bad.

I'm disheartened, distraught, disgusted and looking for a new team. I'll be a Seminoles fan now.
Sounds like you are over reacting to me. Georgia is likely the best team takent wise that Oregon has ever played. Don't pay the juice and I will take Oregon via the spread against BYU. Cheers.
Counterpoint: Bo Nix really sucks.

FSU alumni & I was at the FSU LSU game last night.
My takeaways:
1-FSU OL much improved after a couple of really bad yrs. Jordan Travis may actually make it thru the season without getting killed.
2-FSU Offense Coord called a good game (except for the GL pitch)….finally figured out that TEs can catch too.
3-FSU defense…..why are you continuing to play 3 high safeties 25 yds from the LOS with 20 sec left….especially when LSU hasn’t thrown a pass more than 5 yds?
4-FSU fans travelled in droves for this one.

One question for the group:
When the LSU TE caught the ball & appeared to go out of bounds w 1 second remaining but then replay showed that his knee/leg was down in bounds.

In the stadium, We all thought the game was going to be over because there is a clock run off rule that says you can’t spot the ball with less than 1 second (or something like that)
Why did they let LSU run a play?

I think it’s two parts, though yes confusing at first glance.

I think LSU initially benefited from an officials review TO to check and suspect it carries with it some stoppage. What was bizarre to me is that they didn’t have a scenario where the official on the ball signaled it live, sprinted like hell out of there, and forced LSU to immediately snap it.

The final head scratcher to me noting the above was FSU calling timeout. I don’t know why my above paragraph didn’t play out that way, but as soon as FSU called TO it no longer mattered since they stopped the clock.

Well of course I'm overreacting. That's just what I do. I'm irrational, volatile and emotionally behind the rest of the classroom. I knew Oregon was overmatched but that was just humbling in a way I never imagined. I feel violated.

You're on for BYU. We can lock it in when the lines are set.

Well why didn't he suck for Auburn when he threw a late hail Mary to win it? That guy has hurt me now twice. Gawd, this is the best Oregon has? Terrifying.

Ty Thompson should have seen the field on Saturday. He couldn't have been any worse than Nix.

Bo Nix = Chris Rix

And should have gotten some play last year as well. So frustrating. And GM, Bo had like two good games at Auburn. Otherwise he was exceptionally mediocre.

Why did they let LSU run a play?

From the broadcast it sounded like it's because of the clock stoppage for a first down. Even though it's only a temporary stoppage. If that play was goal to go and he'd been tackled (no 1st down) it would have had a run-off.

It was also pretty bizarre they didn't put a second back on the clock. I thought they double check the clock on every replay? He was clearly down w/ 2 seconds (almost 3). Didn't matter since they called the TO anyway, but was weird as I was assuming they'd set it to 2 and the announcers and college Mike Periera were too.

DJ (Clemson’s QB) was unbelievably good at St John Bosco and unbelievably bad last year. Hoping he has a good season though I don’t root for Clemson and won’t tonight.

I truly don’t believe it’s possible for Georgia tech to score in this game, barring them getting a turnover deep in Clemson’s territory.

I don't care anymore. I strictly rooting for Badgers, Beavers and any other marsupials.

You could get on the ground floor and root for the Kansas Jayhawks. They have sucked for years and there are zero expectations. This year they are 1-0 and the new coach is promising.

There are about 8 people on the bandwagon. Come on in.

One of our local sports radio guys went to Kansas, so I'm very familiar with his agony watching KU football over the years. But let's turn it around, Rock Chalk!

Where are you at? I live in Austin so can possibly provide you some recommendations (though it's been a hot minute since I've been cool enough to be downtown much).

Sark also sullied the fun of the game. noting he's more interested in the Big XII title game than the Bama game 🤦‍♂️

People here are pretty excited about the game - as they should be. But I reckon its going to be a bloodbath. Alabama by 25-30.

At Mockingbird on Guadalupe, thinking of trying Posse East? I’m on my own tonight but easing in to it w an early campus meeting, so tomorrow back on campus looking for trouble. Then group going out downtown tomorrow. Definitely sense an uneasiness around within the excitement.

ETA: not sure what the campus ‘strip’ or hotspots are…

Texas Campus is exploding. 1st time ESPN and Fox will be on campus together (they’ve done neutral sites). @Jayded >Cain and Able now.

The University of Kentucky gets a primetime slot against the University of Florida tonight. A big chance to shine under a national spotlight, but does UK have the horses to hang in The Swamp?

I think this is going to be a great game. I wouldn't be surprised by either team winning.

Was at the UT Golf Club tailgate Thur night. Crenshaw, Scheffler and Spieth attended. Cory Morrow entertainment. Bevo made an appearance too. One of the better attended agents the last couple years.
