Official 2022 college football thread: its conference realignment season. (1 Viewer)

aTm’s conference winning percentage is higher in the SEC than it was in the Big 12.
That just means aTM was terrible in the Big 12 too. OU and Texas, well OU I guess, are used to recent success. That’s not likely to be the case in the SEC.

I’m definitely not a recruiting expert but OU and UT are right around #5 in terms of their 2023 class. If they have good coaches they’ll be fine. Of course OU won’t win the conference 50% of the time like the Big 12, and a lot of those 10-2 years will probably be 9-3 or 8-4, I get that. If Venables is no good then they could absolutely crater for a decade or so. We’ll see.

For anyone who has DISH, looks like ESPN (and other Disney channels) off the air due to a carriage dispute.
I'm so glad I was able to get rid of dish network. They were constantly fighting with providers and bombarding me with letters urging me to write letters to the mean providers. They haven't carried HBO for years as far as I know. No cbs for a long time, fox. It really sucked, but to wake up on a Saturday in the fall w no ESPN would send me through the roof.

They're dying a slow death and they deserve it.

Woke up today in my hotel to this nonsense. Planned to ease into the day with a little Sportscenter and some CFB but nope, just a CEO begging me to write Disney. Not sure why anyone would subscribe to these guys with all the no hassle options out there.

Sort of my point though. The SEC is the best because the top teams, usually 1 or 2 per year, are so damn good. The rest of them are no different than anywhere else.

Wow, Tigers. Not those Tigers or those Tigers, but those Tigers! This is shocking for the Tigers to be outperforming the Tigers and the other Tigers tonight.

Georgia got away with a hold on the play before the td, but that’s college ball for ya. Top teams always get the favorable officiating.

Never had much of a reason to post much in here. Rock Chalk Jayhawk?

Their stadium holds 47k. They are based in Lawrence, Kansas. There are a few good breweries there and the basketball team is pretty good. There is a beach on campus and 842-1212 calls Pizza Shuttle.

Booyah! :headbang:

Just got back from Death Valley. Clemson looks good this year. DJ is a whole different QB and Will Shipley has been unbelievable. If Clemson can get that secondary sorted out they could be a tough out.

By the way - I was at UConn’s first National Championship and at Fenway when the Sox won the 2013 World Series. The atmosphere at Death Valley last night was almost as electric. What a venue.

that place was like Thunderdome at night

And GameDay will be there on Saturday.

Yeah, I heard that. Pretty exciting for the team.

Colorado broke off both the HC and DC. Wow.

Why is that shocking? They've won 8 games in 3 years, lost by a lot in every game this year, and the recruiting classes have gone from blah to horrific.

Having said all of that, I don't expect much to change as the program has sucked for over two decades (four winning seasons in 20).

I'm making a list of college football stadiums to watch a game at...just to experience it. My list this far:

OSU
Penn State
LSU
Florida
Clemson

Thoughts?

What is the capacity of the Kansas stadium? 12?

I think a little under 40k
And now they are all storming the field after beating unrankrd Iowa state…

Ah what the hell, 5-0 is something to celebrate in Lawrence

i’m late to the game but the clemson entrance into the stadium is nuts

Always been a fan of it myself - that is until somebody blows out a knee or hammy.
Has that happened? I always think about it happening when I watch that entrance. Which is pretty awesome.
Back in my younger and more rebellious days a fellow friend and Gamecock fan and I discussed sitting on the hill and stretching out some fishing line and pull it tight just at the right time. I'm sure we wouldn't have gotten away with it and probably got beat down. If Dabo was coaching back then I probably would have done it. 😁

I have tickets to the Clemson Notre Dame game at Notre Dame in a few weeks. I always wanted to see a game there. i’ve always wondered what the best college venue was. Georgia looks pretty spectacular given that it’s right in the middle of the campus. Alabama and Florida look pretty cool as well. Then I guess you’d have to say Michigan and Ohio State. It’s going to be hard to be Clemson though. Stadium is right in the middle of campus, great places to tailgate all around, beautiful Southern belles everywhere…. And the fans are absolutely insane.

Penn State is one of the best underrated places for big games. The stadium isn't "exciting" but the 110+ and atmosphere is awesome

According to Twitter reports - Chryst is out at WI. A little surprising - that they did it now and didn’t wait until the end of the season.
Surprised they did it midseason sort of…but a change is definitely needed and they get to see if Leonhard is up to being a head coach.
Id about expect some of the offensive coaching staff replaced as well.

The Florida stadium - you have to be careful if you don’t like heights. It is VERY steep, and the steps are small. My wife is a graduate and won’t go to games there unless we are close to the field.

Lsu upper deck made me feel like Alex honold getting to my seat.

Can’t go wrong really with the top 10 roughly in the SEC. Each is a little different. I’ll be in Tuscaloosa this Sat and Knoxville next Sat..two fantastic venues and college towns…and it will be two of the loudest games ever at each (as long as UT takes care of business this week in Baton Rouge).

Only that they fired them both in season, that’s all.

I’m not sure what you mean by “exciting”; the student section is one of - if not the - most raucous in CFB.
If you sit up top in the south end zone you get a beautiful view of Mount Nittany.
