No, obviously Ten Hag is disrespecting himRonaldo surely seething that they are doing so well without him, right?
Meet Roberto BaggioI know it's what not we are taught as kids, but pros should be going high corners on the PK. It's not like these guys are gonna send it 10 feet over the crossbar like a 9 year old. If you can't hit top corners from 12 yards you shouldn't be playing in the WC.
Asking 3x.Ramos asking Ronaldo HOW YOU LIKE THAT!??
I'm sure he wishes he was scoring these goals but is pleased to advance.Ronaldo surely seething that they are doing so well without him, right?
Now I really want the coach to sub off Ramos for Ronaldo so we can see if Ronaldo congratulates him.

Ronaldo with the hat trick? Not watching yet, is Ronaldo claiming that?
I missed it, did he?Now I really want the coach to sub off Ramos for Ronaldo so we can see if Ronaldo congratulates him.

****, I don't know, I focused on work after it went 5-1.I missed it, did he?Now I really want the coach to sub off Ramos for Ronaldo so we can see if Ronaldo congratulates him.
Maybe a little better, but this is the Swiss, you can count on them to be 2 or 3 in a group depending on the draw, but no further than the round of 16...I thought the Swiss looked pretty good in the group stage and figured they'd put up a better fight than this.
Novice question: assuming the last defender stayed on the Portugal half of the field, Ronaldo would not have been offsides there, correct? In other words, if the defensive team has no positional players on their half there can't be offsides, right?Only a mile off, so close....

If I read your question right, no he would still be offside. There needs to be 2 defensive players between you and the goal in their half.Novice question: assuming the last defender stayed on the Portugal half of the field, Ronaldo would not have been offsides there, correct? Oh, weird. So, in theory, the defense can push you way up your half??only on a goal kickNovice question: assuming the last defender stayed on the Portugal half of the field, Ronaldo would not have been offsides there, correct? Correct. But if you are in your half you can not be offsideOh, weird. I guess I assumed it worked like hockey.
Ah, so put differently, you can't just wander onto their half prior to the ball being kicked up to you?Correct. But if you are in your half you can not be offsideOh, weird. You are onside in your half. Once you pass the midfield line you have to have two opposing players between you and the goalRegardless of the center/midfield line?If I read your question right, no he would still be offside. Ask away, there are plenty here and in the other soccer threads that will answer and help.Ah, so put differently, you can't just wander onto their half prior to the ball being kicked up to you?
I apologize for the 20 questions but I'm genuinely confused.
What's funny is that I played year-round club soccer until I was twelve and was told to quit by a doctor due to a knee problem. Went to camps, practices, tournaments, all the time. And I paid attention to the rules and stuff.Ask away, there are plenty here and in the other soccer threads that will answer and help.Ah, so put differently, you can't just wander onto their half prior to the ball being kicked up to you?

Offside is probably the hardest one to explain and understand, so you aren't alone. Especially when you get into the finer points of it.

I was just discussing it with my 13 year old who has been playing since she was 6.What's funny is that I played year-round club soccer until I was twelve and was told to quit by a doctor due to a knee problem. Despite the above, I realized today I didn't know (or had forgotten) how the rule work when all positional players were in the opponent's half.

6-1.
Damn
That's a big statement. I haven't been able to watch all the games, but I felt like from highlights that Brazil could have had a similar score line yesterday but shut it down at halftime. That was maybe the best performance of any team. Spain 7-0 over CR was due to how dreadful Costa Rica was. The Swiss are a good side and were torn apart today.
No WC games the next two days? Some of you mugs may actually have to do some work during the workday!
 yup, I feel seen
yup, I feel seenThanks. It was Osgood-Schlatter disease where basically my body/puberty hadn't caught up to the amount of physical activity I was doing as I was playing hours of soccer, baseball, basketball, roller hockey, etc. daily. I was in lots of pain nightly. So, the doctor told me to quit the sport with most running which was soccer. I hit puberty and was fine like a year later but at that time I was entering high school and was almost solely focused on baseball and played fall ball so didn't touch a soccer ball again until my 20s when I played in a low-level rec league and coached some.I was just discussing it with my 13 year old who has been playing since she was 6.What's funny is that I played year-round club soccer until I was twelve and was told to quit by a doctor due to a knee problem. Wait until you see a keeper get forward and how people lose their minds because he is usually one of the 2 and it confuses when he isn't in the goal.
And don't worry, I had to explain to an AYSO ref how offside work when he explained it incorrectly to a parent AR.
Sucks about the knee problems.
Yep. Not a fan.No WC games the next two days? Some of you mugs may actually have to do some work during the workday!
