I still giggle every time these guys lay down when setting up the wall on a free kick.

Haha, when did teams start implementing this strategy? I don't recall seeing it in previous Cups.
I don't know if it's been used in previous cups, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say teams started using the lying down player about 10 seconds after a player kicked one under a jumping wall.

I think it started when they changed the rule and the opposing team had to be a yard from the wall. Not sure why it correlates but that's what I remember.

This is exactly it. I think it might have been Messi, actually.
He might have been the latest to go under but plenty have before. Ronahldino for one.
 
I understand people want Messi to get his WC, but goalie staring down the guy like a punk for no reason, Messi flopping like a chump, dude firing the ball into the bench. Heartbreak would be the perfect result for this team.
