But I think the final margin will be bonies

rn he leads 26-11 in bonus seconds

but I expect them to leap frog each other 15-16-17

15 & 17 are long climbs, which I think favor Jonas

tomorrow and the ITT Monday are uphill summit finish’s where I give the edge to Pogi

I don't know what he does differently. He hasn't been climbing great the whole tour. A lot of YouTube experts said he shouldn't have responded to Izagirre's attack after the penultimate climb but what else is he gonna do? Took his shot, didn't work out.

Another great stage for Matteo Jorgenson getting on the podium. He was pretty bummed after the stage, this was his last best chance to win from the break.

Cannot believe Cofidis has two stage wins after not winning one for 15 years.

This is tomorrow's stage, more or less. We always or almost always have one, comes pretty late this year. We start near Bourg en Bresse, where we will end stage 18, this is the start of our long Alps trip. And with it, a classic of French race, not so much of the Tour. We are at the Grand Colombier, mostly used in the Tour de l'Ain, and a staple of the Tour de France since the 2010's, with 2020 being the most iconic use of the climb in that period post Covid when cycling was a mess. We take the South side of the climb, with the Lacets du Grand Colombier allowing pretty images!

With that in mind here are our predictions:

★★ Pogacar, Vingegaard

★ Breakaway

14th of July is Bastille Day, so frenchies gotta win this, it's obvious, the last one to succeed at this was Warren Barguil back in 2017 again a star break with Contador, Landa and Quintana! Tho for real unlikely a French rider wins.

THis profile makes it unlikely for a break to win. Because this is an opportunity for the 2 big dogs to have a showdown, and Jumbo have been clear on their intent to win a stage (with questionable tactics). Also, the break will form on the flat, where it's a struggle for climbers, there is a real chance we end up with a classic man break, usually one or two climber manages to sneak in. If it happens and the peloton gives 8+ minutes, those climbers should go play the lotto after the stage!

Seems like this year it's dumb luck to get into a break. Seems to be more about the peleton easing up than guys riding away. Maybe it's because I've watched more of the earlier parts of each stage and it's always been this way.

On this day in 2016.

In the final kilometres of stage 12 to Chalet Reynard up Mont Ventoux, Chris Froome, Bauke Mollema and Richie Porte attacked in the final kilometres of the group of GC riders. They crashed all three when a television moto suddenly stopped in front of them.

Froome, riding in yellow, found his bike damaged and with the teamcar far behind he decided to run up Mont Ventoux. He finished 2 minutes down on Adam Yates, but officials assigned him the same time as Mollema and kept the yellow jersey.

Really regretting not putting mohoric on my team. He was one of the guys I was fixated on. Stupid Ben O’Connor. His cost made me leave some off that I liked.
 
I have questions:

If Tadej has three teammates pulling up the mountain ahead of him, and Vino is sitting 5th on Pogacar's wheel -- how is Vino disadvantaged by not having teammates? Isn't he benefitting from UAE's train just like Pogacar? This one has always bugged me.

Why is UAE not chasing down these breakaways? I don't recall this ever happening before on a consistent basis. Especially on mountain stages.

If it comes down to the last time trial, who's the stronger rider in that discipline?

Last, is Roglic competitive with these two? If he were in the race could he win?
