I think I might enjoy disc golf, though I think datonn may have set the sport back a couple decades here.
I like to putt mine for the practice, even if it's given to me. But I don't know the actual rule on it. I'm not a huge fan of giving putts, though. If it's easy enough to make, then make it.When playing a match or in league play after your opponent gives you a putt do you still putt the ball? I was told years ago the proper etiquette is when you are given a putt just say thanks and pick up your ball.
I was playing a guy in my league on Tuesday...4 times on the first 6 holes I gave him 2-3 foot putts after I won the hole. After giving him the putt he walks up addresses the ball and putts it..3 times he misses. Since we play match and total score I was ahead in match play but then I took a snowman on hole 7 after hitting two shots OB. The last two holes he had the same putts that I had given him all day and I don`t say a word because in my mind he had missed these before. After he made them he kind of looks at me like WTH.
On a weekend playing with buddies I do the same. Just talking in league or match play.I like to putt mine for the practice, even if it's given to me. But I don't know the actual rule on it. Yeah, not sure totally, but I know you're allowed to practice putt during match play. So you could putt it then.On a weekend playing with buddies I do the same. That's the way I am with stroke play. Match is a different animal and there is a different level and history of etiquette to it. Unless its two people who know each other and decide right off the bat to putt everything, as was generally the case when I used to gamble on the course. But in competition, you have to concede putts.I like to putt mine for the practice, even if it's given to me. But I don't know the actual rule on it. I'm not a huge fan of giving putts, though. If you are playing in a semi serious match, then you should pick up and not putt out. There is a strategy to this and some head games by not letting someone actually make small putts to gain confidence. Give them all the short putts on the front and don't let them finish out. Then make them putt everything on the back 9 when things start to get serious. That's they way we've always played.I like to putt mine for the practice, even if it's given to me. I'm curious why you say this. Not saying you're not right in your opinion, but just wondering the reasoning. If you watch things like the Ryder Cup or President's Cup, you'll see guys finish putts even if it was conceded. Now, usually it is only if they are losing and their putting is failing them, but they do it. I guess if you're winning, and someone gives you a putt, it may not be the best thing to finish it, but I don't see the harm in putting out. Especially if the rules say you're allowed to.If you are playing in a semi serious match, then you should pick up and not putt out. It's just the way we've always played. Typically if your opponent is near the hole, we'll just knock their ball back to them so they can't attempt the putt. I was looking at the track a couple weeks ago, and I think it looks awesome. I'm excited to see this played. I feel like every year we hear people complaining about the setup or the course and everything goes just fine. I think this will be the same this year.US Open 2015 at Chamber's Bay looks to have a totally different feel. Here's a link to the comments by Mike Davis, USGA:

The course will play to a par 70, just like previous U.S. Open courses. Davis plans on alternating holes 1 and 18 as par 4s and 5s during the tournament and some of the teeing grounds used could have slightly elevated or downward lies.![]()
I'll give Davis the benefit of the doubt as I think he has done a great job with most of the set-ups but this screams bad venue if they have to "trick it up" just to protect par. Played it a bunch when I lived in SF. 20-30 times, though not since the renovation. Great piece of land. Olympic, SFGC, and Lake Merced all right there.Anyone ever play Harding in SF? Man I love park style courses and those views are incredible.
I've tried it a few times since your pm but wasn't able to find anything in my area.BTW...does anyone here use TeeOff.com to book tee times? If not, take a look and see if there are any courses in your area you want to play. Shoot me a PM and I can probably get
you an additional 25% off their Deal times through some connections I have.

I take a different approach. the first 2-3 footer they have, i make them putt it. then i don't again for many holes. Let it stew. I'll bring the "finish it" card out again around hole 14 if necessary. That's cool. Like I said, I was just asking. It's just the way we've always played. you are. an 82 with 2 3 putts isn't anything i'd worry about. Hopefully your 3 putts were from being aggressive. Keeping score doesn't bother me. I wasn't in trouble all day. Just a couple thin shots and some poor approachesThat's about my normal score. Try to avoid any doubles, take your medicine if you hit in the trees and accept a bogey if necessary. DO NOT MENTALLY keep track of your score. Just play each hole for par and add it up when you're done.belljr said:Shot 82 today. Did not putt well overallhad 2 3 putts. Striping the driver. Noticed the last few holes I over swing and ramp up. Which course?Well best round I've played in the last few years. Shot a 74. Par on every hole from 7-18. Hit every green on the back 9.
Greens were slow and bumpy.
I'm just not consistent. Last round before this was an 86.

Played there last year. I felt he course played long and the rough was brutal. I found a sleeve of balls not a yard off the fairway that had been lost by groups in front of us.Anyone ever play Harding in SF? Man I love park style courses and those views are incredible.
Which courses did u play...get to Prattville or Greenville?Just got back from a trip to Alabama. Played a bunch of courses on the Robert Trent Jones Trail. Great time. Would definitely recommend for a lower priced golf trip. Some really beautiful courses. Great condition too.
108 holes in four days. I'm wiped.
Finally got a chance last week to try this out on the course...over 36 holes at Innisbrook Wed/Thurs...felt MUCH better, and made quite a few 10-20 footers. Appreciate the tip, Bender! Not even that. Where are you leaving the ball? To the right of the hole (if you're right handed)? I'm not sure what you meant by slice to be honest. After you've finished your stroke is your club head above where the ball was (further away from you...high?)Hadn't considered my release. Like throwing the club head at the target? Are you finishing high? Above the ball spot by not allowing your shoulders to move freely after contact?Hey gump...Spieth DOES play a scotty![]()
coincidentally I can't make a 5 foot putt or longer all of a sudden.Anyone with tips on putting stances? I can't seem to keep from cutting across the ball. I line up putter first, then step into my stance...and naturally I end up slightly open, then slicing my putts.
Most issues like you describe I see people finishing high with the putter well above and to the right (if right handed) of where the ball was.
I always remember that after contact it should look like almost a mini driver swing with the club almost coming in toward my body.
If it is, it's one of the easiest fixes in the world, if not, then I completely misread your issue.

Judge was my favorite. Only negative was ridiculous pin placements. Must have been impossible pin week. Lots of three putts.
Sheik - you are a Philly guy, right? Is there like a website that has good listings of "best public courses in..." for all different areas? I'm trying to find some fun, new, and not super expensive places to play, but am having trouble finding any good websites.
Yes. Thanks. And I saw this site and was using it as a reference. Then I told someone that I might be playing Cobbs Creek this weekend and they said it was a crap hole. This site has it as the 19th best course. So I was suspect of the site. I do see a lot of the courses are nice, but I was hoping to maybe find some more hidden gems.Sheik - you are a Philly guy, right? Is there like a website that has good listings of "best public courses in..." for all different areas? I played Cobbs a ton last year. It's a city course, so you have to temper expectations in regards to condition, but it's not in awful shape by any means, and I'll say it's a tough course. The front 9 is short (three par 3's), but the first 6 holes all have water in play. The back nine opens up and 11-15 is as tough of a stretch of holes that I've played anywhere. 12 is a 420 yard par four, slightly uphill and 14 is a 580 yard par 5, both of which ALWAYS play into the wind.Yes. Ton of fun. Great course, beautiful views. Stay out of the rough though. Even when it isn't playing long, it's some of the thickest rough I've ever played. Hit your drive in the rough and a par will feel like a birdie.Playing Torrey in a couple weeks![]()
