it's a humbling endeavor trying to pick riders, about the time you think you have it down you bomb the next one

I had won the last two grand tours (2024 Tour of Spain and 2025 Tour of Italy) but have spent the vast majority of this Tour finishing stages in the bottom 3

but that's OK - I just love cycling and never really tire of learning new things about the sport or "discovering riders"

Remco Evenepoel pulled out of the Tour de France today and here is his touching message to all:

“I didn’t have the best preparation coming into the Tour, but I did everything I could to be in the best possible shape; sadly, I just wasn’t at 110%, which is what you need at the Tour de France to fight for the general classification. For three days already I wasn’t feeling good, and today in the morning I could feel I was empty, and then on the climb the legs just weren’t there. It’s a pity I had to retire, but it’s not something that will change my relationships with the race”, Remco said to the media.

That’s basically what WvA said post race. Tongue in cheek I’m sure.

The day before Alaphilippe tore a cardboard sign in half from of a fan’s hands, and stuffed it in his jersey to keep warm (on the fly, pretty hilarious.) Turns out she was a Wout fan & the sign said in Dutch “WvA I’m going to be your wife”

Anyway, the story had a nice ending. Somebody located her on Cote du Tourmalet and brought her to the paddock, where after the stage the Frenchman apologized, gave her a bib & she got a picture with her favorite Belgian.
