SD needs a Td here, not a FG. They need two TDs to win this game.
Well, they're only down by 9, so the SD defense needs to step up, otherwise you're right.SD needs a Td here, not a FG. They need two TDs to win this game.
Given the spot on the field, I agree, especially with NE's offense starting to click now.Don't think I'd have punted there.
I think you can say "only down by 9" for most other teams, but for this Patriots team? That's near insurmountable, IMO.Well, they're only down by 9, so the SD defense needs to step up, otherwise you're right.SD needs a Td here, not a FG. They need two TDs to win this game.
They haven't looked like their normal selves though. This isn't the November 2007 Pats.I think you can say "only down by 9" for most other teams, but for this Patriots team? I absolutely agree with the bolded part, and still firmly believe they have this game well in hand. They haven't looked like their normal selves though. MaroneyKevin Faulk = MVP of this game.
Typical championship game.Have the refs thrown a flag at all since halftime? Not saying they missed anything major....

To be fair, the SD offense is severely handicapped (LT2 out, and Rivers and Gates both badly hobbled). That aside, the Pats defense has played well.New England's defense has impressed me in this game. Tenacious pursuit against the run and excellent pressure on Rivers.
I was thinking the same thing. i've seen much closer calls get the sticksGotta love the refs giving the Pats the first down on every close call without asking for the sticks.

I don't think so at all...I see a team with major holes in the secondary. And a team with virtually all their major weapons injured still able to score (albeit FG's only).New England's defense has impressed me in this game. Tenacious pursuit against the run and excellent pressure on Rivers.
A blatant offensive pass interference on a crucial 3rd and 11 with 8 minutes left isn't major? Give me a break.Have the refs thrown a flag at all since halftime? Not saying they missed anything major....
The Refs don't have Tivo...I am actually amazed at how much the Refs do catch with so much action going on the field.Ok, I just went back on the DVR and watched that play again. That was the most shameless offensive pass interference I have EVER seen.Seriously, go back and watch it. Gaffney is 2 yards downfield, runs back, and lowers his shoulder into the guy covering Faulk.I can't say I've EVER seen a pick set by a WR so blatantly. How in the hell did that not get called?
Debatable... both were damn good.MaroneyKevin Faulk = MVP of this game.
It has nothing to do with that. You can't play a zone and give the QB 11 seconds to throw. You just can't.The zone keeps pitter-patting backwards the longer the play lasts, and eventually someone is wiiiiiide open underneath. It's happened at least 15 times in this game, and happened 20 last week.NFL LBs might want to figure out how to cover Faulk. Just sayin....
Kevin Faulk = MVP of the last 5-6 years.

Whatever, the O-line was MVP of every game this year for NE.Today, it wasn't even close. It's easy to make a move as a RB when the first contact is 5-10 yards downfield, and it's easy to get wide open underneath as a receiver when the QB is able to hold the ball for 7 seconds.Debatable... both were damn good.MaroneyKevin Faulk = MVP of this game.
yeah...last week the Pats would have covered if they didn't miss that 35 yd field goal...Wasn't the spread 14? Lots of gamblers very nervous right about now.
Closet Patsfan if there ever was one18-0 and in the Superbowl. Congratulations to all of the Patriot fans out there. I've ripped your team a lot this year, but they are truly magnificent. Enjoy the ride!
