I think the other perspective that people take on this is we have also seen players have massive workloads as Foster did and then have some breakdown/injury time, but then come back to be very solid again. The thing that drives this so much is that we aren't talking about a guy who was just "pretty good". We are talking about a guy whose ff impact is as significant as anyone who has come around at the position in the last 10 years. When he was on, he was outperforming Peterson, Charles, McCoy, Rice, and a host of others who had some GREAT years.mcd said:Yeah, it's shocking to hear how highly some people view Foster. He looked old & used up last year before his major injury. Yes, he caught some passes & scored a few TDs but it was obvious to anyone who actually watched him, that the wheels had already come off. I was actively trying to trade him (even with his good ppg) when he went down with the injury. Now he's coming back from one of the most difficult injuries for RBs. If he does beat out Ajayi, then neither one is any good, and the Dolphins are in trouble.
Barry Jackson and Omar Kelly have both been the primary source of negativity regarding Jay Ajayi's abilities as a receiver. Both have a pretty negative point of view about the team in general and I would love to find some better writers talking about the Dolphins.• Running back: Gase likes Damien Williams --- and Daniel Thomas and Isaiah Pead had some moments this summer – and the Dolphins aren’t opposed to keeping a fourth back behind Arian Foster, Jay Ajayi and Kenyan Drake. Because the Dolphins don't have a fullback, they believe that gives them the luxury to keep an extra tailback or tight end.
Always nice to see people doing their homework Bia. Good work.Adam Gase Discusses 2016 Training Camp
What Gase starts the press conference with is stating that Arian Forster and Xavien Howard will start training camp on PUP.
Outstanding journalism on Jackson part reading into anything Gase said in this press conference that Foster will start over Jay Ajayi. Shouldn't he wait until Foster is actually getting 1st team reps before thinking this? The coach said at the break of training camp that Jay Ajayi is the starter. Foster isn't going to get 1st team reps on the PUP.
What Gase says is that it will sort itself out, then talks about sport science being a big influence on how many reps the RB will get.
He says Foster runs routes as good as a WR. He is a very good player. Later on in the interview he talks about not needing to see Foster run a lot of outside zones. He knows Foster knows how to run these plays. It really seems like they follow the guidance of the sports science and trainers as far as how many snaps they give players.

Dolphins RB Arian Foster (pictured) gets his first carry in practice with his new team. He rushes up the left side for a solid gain.
Wow play already from new Dolphins RB Arian Foster, who made a one-handed catch in the end zone.
Yes, because nothing could go wrong for Foster from here out.Looks like a few [posters are gonna need to do some backtracking in this thread.![]()
way after his ADP of 69...I think we're looking at 9/10th round at the earliest. So what round are you guns comfortable taking this guy?
He's gonna way before that. I think he's a real interesting rb3 if you want to take the riskway after his ADP of 69...I think we're looking at 9/10th round at the earliest.
the data shows 69 in ppr 61 in standard, not sure where you are getting your adp data from. He's gonna way before that. I think he's a real interesting rb3 if you want to take the risk
correct, you'll see his ADP skyrocket if he stays injury free throughout the preseasonI think he is being way undervalued in drafts.
And thats a HUGE ifcorrect, you'll see his ADP skyrocket if he stays injury free throughout the preseason
I don't know about "like his", but athletes come back from Achilles injuries all the time.Has any running back ever come back from a Achilles injury like his?
I don't believe there has been a RB that's come back from this injury. From what I can remember, there hasn't been a RB as close to as good as Foster to tear their achilles so maybe he proves the exception. We have seen players at other positions and in other sports come back so that is a positive sign.I don't know about "like his", but athletes come back from Achilles injuries all the time.
Not true. He had additional meetings set up. Many teams never had a chance to see him (were waiting for him to be a full-go in a physical tryout, which he did with Miami and was signed before taking his next meeting) and many teams have no need at RB.32 teams in the NFL . all others passed on Foster.
Right not to mention Foster has a say in who he met with and who he is interested in. He wanted a shot to start. Not true. He had additional meetings set up. Many teams never had a chance to see him (were waiting for him to be a full-go in a physical tryout, which he did with Miami and was signed before taking his next meeting) and many teams have no need at RB.
So we'll definitely see him in preseason then.If Miami is smart we don't see him at all in preseason
Different majority owner, GM, coaching staff and head coach, head athletic trainer, strength and conditioning coach, director of sports performance, and even a different team logo.Is this the same team that thought Dante Culpepper's knee was okay and passed on Drew Brees? (Jeez... that was ten years ago)
And they are still very average at bestDifferent majority owner, GM, coaching staff and head coach, head athletic trainer, strength and conditioning coach, director of sports performance, and even a different team logo.
But they still have the same name that they had 10 years ago.
Dolphins coach Adam Gase made it sound like Arian Foster will be the team's No. 1 back this season.
Gase left little doubt Foster is being prepared to be the Dolphins' starter. "He is going to be working with the ones the whole training camp," Gase said. "His resume speaks for itself. I don’t think there’s any question why we brought him in here. He’s playing this year. Whether he’s the guy that will be the first snap of the game, time will tell. He is going to be rolling with the ones." Jay Ajayi's setback with his knee has further solidified Foster's place atop the depth chart.

2.6 ypc in a 4 game sample coming off a major soft-tissue injury. He was rusty, not horrible. He still racked up points receiving.32 teams in the NFL . all others passed on Foster. Cause for concern? Yes.There's a reason why the passed on him.
Only once in his NFL career has he played a full 16 game schedule.ONCE.last year he avgd just 2.6 yards per carry BEFORE the Achilles' injury..hard enough for a RB to come back from that injury.even HARDER when the Rb is old(er), has a history of injuries, and couldnt muster anything more than 2.6 ypc last time he played.. He was terrible BEFORE the injury. Why would you think he will be better after it?!
His best days are behind him.
Someone previously predicted 900+ yards for Foster this season..thats quite ambitious.cut it in half..then subtract 100..hes good for about 350-450 rush yards at best..but he might be a good receiver.
Very fair. The blurb above misquotes Gase. They skipped where he says I don't know. Accurate quote is; "Whether he is the guy that will be there the first snap of the game, I don't know, time will tell."

Presser
I did and you can listen to the presser and hear for yourself that they omitted him saying "I don't know" which provides important context that contradicts their conclusion about Gase clearly saying Foster is the number one. That isn't clear and Gase has not made any decision yet. He isn't going to make any decisions until some time in preseason.Dr. Octopus said:read the blurb again.
Yeah that seems to be the hot take. I was just wondering what everyone thought it would be. Majority could mean 200 to 150 or 300 to 50. I'm not worried about nitpicking, just a general idea from people.Fwiw, I just heard a dolphins beat reporter say they are thinking foster is going to get majority of the load and that's why they signed him.
