***Official*** Broken Promises to the Trumpettes (1 Viewer)

I know. And unless the Federal Government does all the labor and procurement (I guess that could happen) they are going to need contractors and demand they use US steel, which is not a very free market position.
All they have to do is federally fund a portion of each project and that would require the contracts to meet Buy America.  Then only 1/10th of 1% of total contract price is allowed to be foreign steel.

Your Daily Caller piece did not address the other LGBT content taken down that was not part of Obama's page which was mentioned above:

Also gone are a Labor Department report on LGBT worker rights, content on LGBT pride month observances, the State Department’s Special Envoy for the Human Rights of LGBT Persons, and an official apology from former Secretary of State John Kerry earlier this month for LGBT State Department employees having being fired from their jobs over the course of several years beginning in the 1940s.

And yes, Kerry's apology to the LGBT community was in regards to over 70 years of people being fired from the State Department simply because they were gay or lesbian. Guess neither you nor Trump have an issue with employment discrimination.
70 years ago no problem

40 years ago no problem

10 years ago - why of course-yes

70 years ago no problem

70 years ago segregation and Jim Crow laws, no problem

40 years ago, de facto housing and employment discrimination still existing against blacks, no problem

10 years ago, discrimination? Why of course yes

What is known as an analogy and you can't defend your position that discrimination against LGBT should only be apologized for if it happened in the last 10 years and not in the decades before that.
Jesus Christ almighty the 40s . The 40s 70 years ago was it right , no. Was it socially acceptable then , probably yes. I'm sorry if you or anyone you know were fired in the 40s . It was wrong

Oh noes, you just sent out the bat signal to Ramblin Wreck and Higgs!

Batten down the hatches for an incoming attack for using the Lord's name.

If so, he sure hasn't started out that way. With friends like this...

LGBTQ pages vanish from White House website as Trump takes control

WASHINGTON, D.C., January 25, 2017 (LifeSiteNews) – The Trump administration moved swiftly last Friday after Donald Trump was sworn in as president to remove LBGT content from official White House websites.  [..']

"With each passing hour, the Trump administration continues to show the extent of their contempt for the enormous progress made over the past eight years," Human Rights Campaign President Chad Griffin said.

Trump spokesperson: ‘I don’t know’ if LGBT executive order will stay

Press Secretary Sean Spicer said yesterday that he doesn’t know if Trump is planning to overturn Barack Obama‘s executive order banning anti-LGBT discrimination among federal contractors.

The Washington Blade reported that Spicer said, “I don’t know on that one. I have to get back to you on that. I don’t think that we’ve gotten that far in the list of executive orders, but I’d be glad to get back to you.”

When pressed about executive orders about LGBT rights in general, Spicer responded, “Again, it’s not — I just don’t know the answer. I’ll try to get back to you on that.”

Executive Order 13672 was signed in July 2014 by Barack Obama and prohibited discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity by federal contractors and extended anti-discrimination protections for the federal civilian workforce to include gender identity. There are an estimated 14 million people who work for federal contractors.
You know maybe it's because he identifies with them not as labels but just Americans ,like everyone else

The new Falcons stadium will cost like 1.25B.  How much is a 2,000 mile and, what 20 foot high, wall supposed to cost?  There's no chance it's anywhere near the couple of billion I've heard talked about.  Has to be closer to 50B no?  And what's the ROI on that investment?  A million years?

Executive orders and perception is a funny, funny thing. I'm not sure why so many are celebrating on Trump fulfilling his promises ... but if an executive order makes you satisfied ... absolutely wonderful.

occurred to me this morning... we've got the right guy in place for this.

he'll build it, and then as is typical, not pay the contractors and design team the full amount owed. the US will be making money after a few years.

It is amusing because the same crowd were criticizing Obama for his executive orders calling it an abuse of power and, at times unconstitutional. Obviously it depends on who is making the executive orders, not the concept itself.

Exactly.

As if the banditos wont blow holes in the side of it at any time they want to.  Its all so freaking stupid -- and expensive.

Ask yourself what's the timeframe for paying back the 20T in debt. The answer is never. So we tack this cost onto the debt and it's as if we built a wall for free. The ROI is fantastic.

Of course this cuts both ways.  It's also amusing to see those outraged at Trump's EOs being the same ones who applauded Obama's....you guys and your echo chambers are a hoot!

Looking increasingly like Trump is going to nominate liberal judge Tom Hardiman for the SC.  Good grief, why not just push through Garland.

HE HAD ONE JOB - nominate a sharp conservative to the open seat (Gorsuch?), but it's looking like he's going to replace Scalia with David Souter 2.0

Where are you getting the idea that this guy is a liberal?

That's not how federal contracts work, or even private for profit contracts, but you probably already know that.

that's how it's worked for Trump all these years in the private sector... why not make it work to make america great?

what're you- some kind of commie?

The Hardiman pick would be weird, because he's diametrically opposite of Trump on immigration.  Hardiman is VERY liberal on immigration issues.  He's really only under consideration because he's friends with Trumps sister, and would likely get more confirmation votes from Democrats than Republicans.  He'd be a disaster of a pick (for non-liberals).

How do you people take a guy like this seriously when he trivializes all his decisions with such rash thoughts?

I'd never heard of Hardiman until last week but this argument is inconsistent with everything I've read about him.  I'm not sure what this immigration argument even means.

Maybe I'm reading too much into his decisions like Vadiviezo-Galdamez v. Attorney General

But it's little side things like his work with Ayuda that give me the vibe that he's compassionate toward the plight of immigrants.  I'm not saying that's a bad thing, it just seems that philosophically he is different from Trump in that regard.

If he's anything like Roberts, I'll happily take the trade-off for Scalia.

Judging by his record so far, the pick for SCOTUS will be the absolute worst person that could be picked on the planet.

@tdog -- you know about immigration law, do you have any thoughts about this concurrence by Judge Hardiman?  I'm not smart enough to know.
