***Official Call of Duty: Ghosts Thread*** (1 Viewer)

This game is terrible. Well not the game itself. I actually like the guns, the maps, the perks. But the connection is so god awful that it isnt even fun to play. I am not a good COD player. But over the years I had steadily gotten a little better and was always hovering at a 1.0 KD. Pretty impressive considering my jello like reflexes and poor eyesight. I cant go positive in this game and its largely because of the crap connection. I can shoot first and still die. On review of the killcam I not only didnt shoot first but it basically looks like I wandered aimlessly into the space where my killer was and he began shooting me the moment I entered the space. On my end I saw him first and shot first only to be apparently one shot. Its amazing that this game got cooler in the things it offers the player. But it got crappier in the infrastructure to support all that cool. I'd rather have fewer player customization options and a better connection then all these options and a dog crap connection. As broken as BF4 has been, I can get in the game and have a good time. Sure the occansional freezes are annoying, especially when I have a good game going. But its playable and enjoyable. I dont know how you guys put up with this. I feel like I've flushed $75 bucks down the toilet.
That's odd. For me this game has the best connection, netcode, hit detection, whatever of all the CODs I've played.
Its all about your location. Originally when Dainty and I played Ghosts we did so together or with one other local friend and our connections were very solid. As soon as we joined up with FBGs or other groups where most people were scattered everywhere it feels totally different. When we were playing on west coast hosted games we put up solid numbers going 1.2 combined. When we played on east coast hosts we would just be destroyed and equal about 0.6 together with the common killcam off not shooting the person you actually blasted the #### out of.

I like the new Onslaught maps. They are small (but not too small) to medium sized for the most part which plays moe to my style I guess. I had much better games on them last night than I did when I played the regular maps.

I enjoyed Fog the most, but really only because I got to play as Mike Myers in my only play through of it. Glad they brought back Scrapyard - great map and the Underground addition really enhances it. Containment is a solid map with lots of ways to play it so I think this will ultimately be the best of the bunch. Not sold on BayView, which seems like pretty standard fare.
I just started playing this game, and am still trying to learn the original maps. In my experience, the better players tend to download the new maps right away, leaving the lesser players(which helps me right now)

How many new maps are there?
4 new maps total. Good luck figuring out the original maps...I still don't have a great handle on about half of them. Continue to have WTF moments in Chasm, Seige, Stonehaven, Stormfront, Flooded, and Octane.
Are the new maps only available on Xbox, or if you buy season pass? I'm on the PS4 and haven't seen anything about new maps, but I'm resisting the season pass so could be missing them there.

Your loadout has a huge bearing on how the connection feels too.

When everything is decent, I can run an assault or marksman rifle and do fairly well. When I start to see some BS deaths on the kill cam, I switch to an SMG or shotty. Most times switching to a different class makes the game feel completely different. I've started out 1-6 and still gone positive after switching classes. But there are times where I just need to leave. When I am running a shotgun and someone with a Honey Badger suddenly appears on my screen and I can't even get a shot off before I'm dead? gimmie a break

I do love how much people complain about the shotgun in the kill cam. I mean I have a 10-15 foot ring of doom. That is it. Anything beyond that and I have to run the other way and hope I can get around a corner.

Anyway, I have road runner regular tier. I think I get variying speeds between 12-18 on the download. I wonder what type of internet conneciton the people who do really well or really poorly have. I have not seen anyone post that.

Badger its been this way from the 2nd game that I played. Must have had a good connection in the first match as I went 14-2. But since I started playing with the FBGs its been terrible. Played with Indy, Cardfan, Pioneer and TrynB last night. My night ended in a rage filled 14-40 debacle on the baseball stadium map. It was god awful several of the guys rage quit so it wasnt solely me. But its like that every time that I play. My favorite is watching a sniper kill cam. Guy shoots, the bullet clearly travels to the left of me yet a hit marker registers and I die. Good times!! I am going to experiment with playing solo to see how that works. But the few games that I've played by myself havent been any better.

I have road runner lightning 60 and typically have a pretty low ping on speed test. Connection is still crap. My router is right next to the Xbox. 6 foot of ethernet cable from the router to the xbox.

Okay, if you're talking strictly party play then I understand. I've had nearly no issues playing solo or if I'm only running with Clawyer. Pretty much only have issues when it's more than 3 of us.

99% of my games are solo and I literally never watch kill cams anyway.

FWIW, I was pretty far negative the first couple of months of play but, like I said before, I was playing with pretty much no sound.

I'm going to keep trying. The connection has been awful when partied up. It really hasnt been much better in the few games I played solo. I've got sound, although its with a pair of X12's instead of my Trittons. I really want to like the game but its not been easy.

Ghosts in a party has been totally hit or miss for me as well, but overall I still think it is as good or better than previous CODs. With BLOPS2, I finally stopped joining FBG parties because my K/D would always take a nosedive due to what I perceive as lag/connection issues, which I never had playing solo. With Ghosts, at least 50% of the time I seem to keep a good connection, although I'll admit that the last game on StrikeZone last night was horrendous. I think I was the only one who finished the game.

Anyway, I'll be on most evenings around 9-11 PM Eastern, so feel free to send me an invite. The party we had the other night with Spanky, Clawyer, and TryinB was epic. That was the most fun I've had in Ghosts in quite some time.

And the new map pack is decent. I especially like Fog and Ignition (Scrapyard). Bayview and Containment are marginal. I always buy the season pass though since my son plays too, so I always get all of them. Don't like the new weapon DLC (Maverick) at all though.

Indy its been good playing with the FBGs. But for some reason my conncection is consistenly bad. I tried to play with TryinB last night and we all ended up rage quitting. Our first match was going well and then the host disconnected so we got kicked to the lobby. Next game terrible lag and we all bailed. I played about 4 or 5 matches solo and while the connection was better for most of the games it seemed in every one there was at least a stretch where the connection was screwed up and my character would warp or rubberband on the map. Really frustrating. My games were better for the most part when solo roughly 1.0 K/D. I really want to like the game itself as I like the maps and the weapons but until the connection smooths out for me its going to tough. It really stinks that after 7 or 8 years of cranking out this franchise that Activision and the game developers Infinity Ward and Treyarch cant find a better solution to these issues. Even after having made billions of dollars on the franchise.

I actually like the Maverick, just wish the rate of fire was a tad higher. Its terrible in close quarters but solid at range.

I think I know what you mean but the Mav absolutely melts up close. By up close I mean within a couple of feet of you. It's solid otherwise. Nothing fancy.

Yeah. From medium range on out it can hold its own. But if you meet someone in a small room, stairwell or they are less that about 10 feet from you then you are in trouble. Not the weapon you want to rush with. Hang back a little and pick off targets of opportunity. I'd rather rush with the Honey Badger or MTAR. But I still havent purchased alot of weapons. Probably should buy more. But I try not to use a weapon if I dont have surpressor. Since I dont have some of the higher level perks yet it keeps me off radar when a satcom isnt up.

LOL, maybe that's related to your connection issues. I destroy people up close with the Mav. Especially when hip firiing.

Maybe. It seems that I can get two or three shots into them with the Mav and not put them down. I have to hit a target with alot of shots to get a kill. It may be connection based. I really like the Mav and the way it handles but in my experience if I get real close to someone and I have the Mav, I am going to die. I like the guns I've used so far. I just havent found one that I really love. I've found one in all of the COD iterations that I played alot. Loved the AK/Galil and AUG in BLOPS. Loved the ACR and TAR-21 in MW2. Didnt play MW3 or BLOPS II enough to have a favorite there. Although the PDW-57 was probably my go to gun in BLOPS II.

Probably the most underrated gun in all of the COD's IMO.

Loved the TAR-21. It was the only gun I ever got close to getting Fall Camo with.

I'm starting to enjoy the ARX. Built-in laser for increased hipfire accuracy, high fire rate with decent damage and reduced recoil for the first 5 bullets. The only real negatives are that damage drops off fairly quickly at range and the magazine seems on the small size.

Looking forward to the framerate drops on the Xbox One Ghosts update. That should be fun. Not.

Okay. I think I've solved some of my connection issues with the game. Changed some settings on my modem/router and it seems to have smoothed things out a bit. I was experiencing some major lag prior to the change and none afterward. Granted the sample size was small after I made the change. But it was a huge inprovement. I have my Xbox hard wired to the modem and have for years. I noticed that my modem/router was behaving strangely and set out to fix that as the issues were largely on the wireless side. However the change that I made also seem to have improved the hard wired performance.

I still havent played any of the new maps.

I just ordered the Xbox 360 version of Ghosts as it was on sale and will be getting back on to the 360. Been boring playing on the Xbone by myself and getting slaughtered by parties/clans.

Awesome. I've been playing a bit with Clawyer, Badger, Indy and CardFan. Pioneer has been on a bit too, I wish he'd get a mic though. We have also played with TryingBLegendary. He's new to me. Good games most of the time. I think I am going to wait until this Christmas to jump into the Xbone pool.

Dainty and I played quite a bit the past two days. Dainty does alright but just doesn't have the twitch + aiming ability that most of us have from year of playing fps. This is her first competitive fps, although she is above average at Gears 3, so it will just take playing time for her to get better. As for me, the connections have been pretty good and I have been getting back into form. I started off going 0.8-1.2 most games and now I'm averaging 1.5. I do my best in domination but have been playing some hardcore kill confirmed and hardcore tdm and really like the no mini map feature. I wish they had vanilla cod with no mini maps. I really like the Remington w/ silencer and tracker sight and use that a lot. My style has always been mid range AR play due to ####ty twitch reflexes that are compensated well by tactics and awareness. Hope to see more of you guys around as we play more. I'll probably be jumping between this, BF4, and some single player games.

I'm really not happy that DLC only transfers between PS3 and PS4 if you have the Season Pass. Activision said back in January that individual DLC WOULD transfer from PS3 to PS4 but would not from the 360 to XB1.

Then they released the Onslaught DLC for Sony and just randomly changed their mind without even making an announcement. They just made a change to their website FAQ about DLC transfers. Screw those guys.

What time are you guys usually on? Now that I'm hitched, late night gaming is rare for me (my console set up is in our bedroom), but I can usually get on around 8-10 pm EST during the week.

Then they released the Onslaught DLC for Sony and just randomly changed their mind without even making an announcement. They just made a change to their website FAQ about DLC transfers. Screw those guys.
I hate that the new maps are not in circulation....you have to go to a certain area just to play the new maps. Weren't new maps in circulation AND available alone on Black Ops 2? Any reason why new DLC is not in map rotation yet?

After playing a few sounds with some friends last night and having some good and some bad matches, we all jumped to some old school Black Ops for a while.

Wow. It's unbelievable how much better the connections and hit detection were. It was unreal. I would aim at somebody and pull the trigger and they'd actually just die! No pumping bullets into a guy only to have him kill me without even raising his gun. Not having to fire ahead of a guy to get hits. No bullets seeming to not get hits even though my sight was right on them. Just simply aim, pull trigger, and succeed. It was awesome. I had one round where I was way too aggressive on Array and went negative, every other match I was over 3.0 k/d. It was glorious.

Made me angry that the connections have sucked so bad on all the other COD games since. Actually, I take that back. The connections on MW3 were terrific until they patched it after the Christmas it came out and weighted connections towards people with crappy connections. I swear that's what they've been doing ever since.

Oh, and it is amazing how much more vivid the colors are. Maybe it's my old man eyes, but I could actually see enemies. It wasn't the bland mushy grayish graphics that they all have now where everything blends together and I can't see anything.

Bump. Anyone still around?
Have they made it not suck yet? ;)

I don't think I have even had the disk out in about 2 months. I bought the season pass (sucker) so I guess I need to check when the next maps come out since I do occasionally play local multiplayer with my boys. Been playing a lot of BLOPS2 lately. Seems more people playing that than ghosts.

I haven't played sine December. Just purchased an XBox One and was looking for options until Halo Remastered comes out.

I think some new maps just came out this month?

Get Titanfall instead. I haven't logged on in a while but if you are gonna be playing I'm game. I still play Ghosts once in a while but its pretty boring.

Not Watch Dogs? The stealthy element to the multiplayer intrigues me. I heard TF wasn't that special?

Titanfall isn't that special but the gameplay is more fun than ghosts. I stopped playing TF though because of the limited amount of maps and game types. Not sure if that has changes as I haven't popped the game in in over 2 mths. No idea about Watch Dogs - I'll look into it and if its interesting maybe pick it up. I'm a big fan of the GTA series and this seems similar.

May swing by GameStop and get Watch Dogs today.

This game was so bad I let my Xbox live membership lapse. Haven't missed it.
Would have been much more fun if they raised the health just a little bit - like say Titanfall level. I don't get the appeal of the instakill. Ghosts quickly devolved to people spawn trapping by either lying down or leaning around corners while holding down left bumper. New game types like Reinforce made this a bit better, but honestly, nobody cares about winning, only their K/D's. The COD community stinks.

Didn't like Titanfall, btw. Tried it yesterday. Switching to Watch Dogs.

Weird. I'm the opposite. Hardcore is the best. Really reduces lag issues and quicks coping bs.

Hardcore is great for people that like that style. I play it sometimes and have fun with it. But I wish they had emphasized stick skills a little more in normal mode rather than making it Hardcore-Lite.

1-2 bullet kills make it far too easy for full squads to spawn camp a group of randoms. Since I almost exclusively play by myself now (RIP FBG Xboxers, it was a nice run), I'm often stuck in these randoms groups.

I felt like I was playing a Transformers game, doesn't seem that competitive with AI enemies mixed in and it's too gimmicky imo. Aiming is very loose, but that's probably because I'm used to COD/Halo.
