This is a good rumor, and seems to signal that LaRussa would be next.

Red Offer Jocketty CEO, President Titles?

The Cincinnati Reds are pursuing former St. Louis Cardinals General Manager Walt Jocketty, offering him one of the titles currently held by President and Chief Executive Officer Bob Castellini, two sources told the Dayton Daily News on Friday.

A source with the Reds said Jocketty would become CEO, with Castellini retaining the title of president. A source in St. Louis said Jocketty has been offered the president's chair.

So much for that idea
Dusty Baker is taking a three-year deal to manage the Reds, ESPN.com is reporting.

The Reds got the big name they wanted. That’s about the only nice thing we can say about this. The Reds may be more likely to dump Adam Dunn now, as he does nothing more than clog up the bases with his walks. Also, we worry about what will happen to Joey Votto if he doesn’t get off to a hot start next year. Baker values experience about as much as any manager in baseball, and he loves speed, which could mean that Ryan Freel will get a lot of at-bats at the expense of Josh Hamilton or Edwin Encarnacion. oof.

I don't even know where to begin.

  :X :wall: :wall: :hot:

and finally...

Seriously, I'm at a loss here. This team really is not worth rooting for. Two steps forward, one HUGE leap backwards.

I'm not sure which is worse right now...knowing that Dunn has little-to-no chance w/ Dusty, as do Votto, EdE, Bailey, and Cueto, or that Cubs fans are now doing  to us and laughing the whole time.

And winter is supposed to be a time for hope and looking forward to the new season. It's not even the WS yet and I am dreading baseball season. WTF?!?

Redszone's take...about sums it up in 15 pages or more....

If you put up with Jerry Narron, you can survive Dusty Baker.

wait, guys. maybe it will be ok.
Maybe it will. I was reading some of the comments online this morning and I am convinced he really does have some players who are FA's that would want to come and play for him. I would be thrilled if he had some #2 through #5 quality starters in his bags when he unpacks.Along with a half dozen relievers. My only concern is the on field leadership. If he is a players coach....I don't want to see Dunn and Griffey "leading" this team the way Barry Bonds led the Giants. I really like Jeff Brantley and he gave a thumbs up for Baker which is good enough for me.

Oh, they will come and play for him......just not very hardBaker let the players run the clubhouse in Chicago, and the players will run the clubhouse in Cincy.

Players need leadership, not friends.
