Strike 2 on judge was brutal.  I'll just go with ####ty umpire. Saving the good ones for the alcs I suppose

How did Shaw get that call after the 3 other pitches to Judge and Gardner? On 3 locations CC was getting all night too.

This one hurts. At least last year, I could walk away saying we were AL champions and took baseball's best team to extra innings of game 7.  This? For me, this is on the same level as blowing a 3-1 lead in the 2007 ALCS. I was sure we could've beat the Rockies that year. And both of those are worse than blowing the 2-0 lead in the 1999 ALDS against the Red Sox.

I'll give props to the Yankees advance scouts, they found the ***** in the Tribe's armor. It was apparent that they discovered that a steady diet of Uncle Charlie and other off-speed stuff was going to cause the Tribe bats to go swinging. Then, you change it up with Chapman, etc. and it was game over.

You put that together with some really atrocious defense, and you had the makings of a disaster. Once they got behind in game 4, everybody was squeezing the bats too hard.  Every Tribe fan would have lost their houses betting on Klubot not crapping himself twice in a row. It was unreal. This will make for a long, cold winter.

And @shadyridr, I love ya GB. How 'bout a man hug???

P.S. Bleep the Yankees!!!

Thanks bud. I know all about blowing leads. Blowing the 3-0 series lead vs Boston was devastating. Blowing that 8-3 G2 lead was heart breaking. I thought after the Indians blew the 3-1 lead in the WS last year you would understand as well so didnt quite get why you were talking trash to me. Yeah I came in this thread but never once to talk trash. What happened to the series threads? Guess we could've created one. Best of luck in the future. I have a feeling this wont be the last time these two teams meet.

The top of the 9th was exactly why pulling Klubs that early on a workable pitch count was a mistake, especially since the plan seemed to simply be Miller-Shaw-Allen to get thru the rest of the game barring extras.  He wasn't dealing his best stuff, but he was likely good enough to get one more out that inning and maybe start off the next frame.

After watching the game last night it is time for a standardized electronic strike zone. There were some horrible calls on both teams.  The first strike on Lindor late in the game was at his chin level.  Bird had the same call on him and both batters were in the hole. It totally changed the AB.

Just got back to Cincy after last nights game.  The crowd was electric and the strike zone was horrendous!  Best seats I'd ever been in (2nd row behind home plate just behind the left-side batters box).  Great views of every pitch and it was ridiculous.  Some so obvious it was infuriating - for both teams.  Aside from that, the tension in the stadium was crazy.  I think we stood more than we sat during the game.  Every 1-2, 2-2, 3-2 count the crowd was up yelling and cheering on the Tribe's pitchers.  Every at-bat you were on the edge of your seat waiting for that elusive hit.  When the Tribe scored the two runs back to back, the place went crazy!

First time at a Tribe game, and even though they lost - I'm not sure anything could beat that experience.  I've been to many Reds games, Yankee Stadium and AT&T Park - and Progressive was by far the best experience out of all of them.  A lot fun, but a crappy ending.

Losing Mick is huge, can't overlook this.  Definitely one of the downfalls of success.  Good luck to him though, seems like a solid guy.

Still processing this one.  Big loss, IMO.  I'm hoping some of his teachings carries over in his absence and that Willis doesn't cause a regression.  I liked the attitude of "find your best pitch and throw it more often than the others" approach.

I knew this was potentially going to be a rough offseason, but I didn't think we'd miss on Santana, Shaw, Smith, and likely Bruce.  But hey, we got BJ Upton and Michael Martinez (yes, heeeeee's baaaack)!  Santana deal is crazy money from a NL team that had what seemed to be their 1B for the next 10 years playing LF last year, 3 yrs at 20 and then a team option for 17 is what I'm seeing, but good for him for cashing in.

I like the Yonder signing. He's starting to find his swing and how to use it consistently. Hate that MM is back, but not guaranteed yet.  Doubly hate that Mickey is off to NYM and away from our pitchers. He is going to be the one piece this team will surely miss in 2018.

Congrats to Thome on the HOF nod!  He's a great representative of the Tribe both on and off the field.

It just doesn't sound right to say the Cleveland Block C's.  I guess we'll get used to it.

Maybe we should be the Cleveland C-Blocks....then you can piss off all the #### blockers and and ex convicts.

Funny..they are removing it from the uniforms but will still sell the Chief Wahoo gear to fans.
The word is they have to sell it to maintain trademark rights.  I'm guessing this will be a small amount of items inside the ballpark at the team shop only.

Me too.  There are a number of good ideas I've seen.  The Indians botched this entire process IMO.
They tried to do it slowly which I understand. Given a couple of more years, it probably would've been gone and few would have noticed.

(Un)fortunately, the ground shifted under their feet. The Dolans probably were not cognizant of the rise of PC culture/greater awareness of the plight of indigenous people. Plus, with the rumor that losing Chief Wahoo was the price to be paid for getting the 2019 ASG, it ended up being the quick end they feared all along.

I would say that Indians as a name is on the same level as Chiefs and Braves - generic enough to be acceptable to most. (Especially when THIS  is their mascot.) The Blackhawks and Seminole logos are fairly real in their appearance and there is buy-in on the Seminoles. I can't speak for the Blackhawks; maybe one of their fans could bring some insight.

But, #1 target will probably always be the Washington Redskins. IMO, the Indians will be one of the last one to fold -- if I had to guess.

The name isn't going anywhere.  We're just joking on the entire situation.

The block C, and even the script I, isn't just going to appear next year, it's already coexisted with Wahoo.  They should have worked in a new Indians logo to use in conjunction with the block C or altered the block C like the feathered C linked above.  Not difficult to do and would have appeased many that are upset today.

I completely disagree with the statement about if this was a few years (in my mind, that number is ~5) few would have noticed Wahoo disappearing.  No way.

Guys I just secured tickets for the Saturday and Sunday games Memorial Day weekend. Saturday I’m in 136 2nd row from the field. Sunday I’m right behind Astros dugout in 142 but 20 rows or so back. Ought to be fun!

Hopefully visiting fans don’t have a lot of problems in there too! ?

Don't be a jackhole and you'll be fine!

When you start planning other things to do feel free to ask questions here.

I was looking at staying at the Radisson hotel. Looks like it’s walking distance to the park. Is that a good choice?

Very short distance to the park, less than 5 min walk.

Downtown hotels are probably what I know least about.  I know the Radisson isn't one of the newer fancy hotels, it's definitely been there a while.  Doesn't mean it's bad.  You're probably getting a good rate there and for the location it should be fine.

That's also in a great spot for walking distance food.  If you look on the map behind the hotel is Prospect and the corner of Prospect down E. 4th is loaded with restaurants.  Personal favorite is Barrio around there, if you like tacos that's your place.  Michael Symon's newest joint is Mabel's, I haven't been there yet though.  Then you also have Red for steaks and the Corner Alley for a bowling/fun atmosphere (fun if you're bringing the family, decent food too as I remember).  One more small hop down Prospect is the Casino if that's your thing.

The other 2 pockets I'd recommend for restaurants are basically between W. 6th and W. 9th (zoom in on a map and you can sort of see the area) and then over near W. 25th.  Can make some rec's closer to your trip if you want...just wanted to note it for you now though.

Ok thanks! Bringing the family and figured I might get a better price on a hotel if I get one early. Didn’t know if there was maybe anything else close to the park that might be good.

As long as you can cancel ahead of time, which you should be able to, always book a hotel stay early and check weekly for rate decreases.  If it goes down, re-book it (to make sure it goes through first) and then cancel the higher rate.

Interesting story by Buster on whether or not CLE can sustain as a contender for much longer.

Odd piece is that he continues to state that ticket sales are down (perhaps falling?), yet I'm not sure that's the truth.  Another article states that the Tribe's revenue has been trending upward towards the middle of the pack.  For CLE that's pretty darn good!  For NYY or LA based teams, not so much.  But it seems like Olney believes that only teams in major markets can sustain growth, and you need to be on either cost in order to bring in ticket sales/high attendance.  I'm not sold on that - as the product on the field tends to drive the attendance in the stands.  The last two years have been great with the Tribe, and just because they didn't make a large FA splash this offseason isn't a reason to point towards a decline in club revenue, let alone the thriftiness of the owners.
