** OFFICIAL ** Cleveland Guardians thread - spring training (2 Viewers)

Danny looked good last night.  Love this teams confidence late in the game.  Down two in the bottom of the ninth and they never quit. Great mental toughness!!

Hillcats heading down to Myrtle Beach today to start the Carolina League Championship Series.

The wheels started to come off of this dream season when they played like total dog#### over the last couple of RS series', but they battled back to win back-to-back elimination games in the semi's. Brutal schedule for these kids, btw. Play in Potomac Wednesday night, drive back home to play 14 innings Thursday night, win Friday night, and are now driving 5.5 hours to Myrtle Beach to Saturday Night, then a day game on Sunday.

Nothing much new player-wise to report. Francisco Mejia is a bad, bad man. Yu finally appears to be over the injury and back to his awesome self. Bobby Bradley is scuffling in a big way. I assume he starts in Akron next year, but he's a long way away.

Saw this from Buster Olney:

Buster Olney ‏@Buster_ESPN  7h7 hours ago

Detroit in all games other than against Cleveland: 77-57 The Indians in all games other than DET: 73-61. Head-to-head: Cleveland 12-1.

Shakier now with Carrasco out with a fractured hand.
Paul Hoynes wrote his column on Sunday saying their season was over. "Sept. 17: Remember the date because that's when Indians' postseason dreams ended before they began".

That went over like a turd in a punchbowl with the Indians team and staff.

Jason Kipnis:

Then don't bother showing up the rest of the way...can write from home if you already know how this one plays out!
Trevor Bauer:

I notice @hoynsie wasn't at the game today doing his job like the rest of us were. To say what he did then not show up for work? #coward
Hoynes claimed it was his "day off".

Tom Hamilton supposedly lead with it on the broadcast yesterday:

If you read the local paper you think this team is done. They are not!!

Kevin Dean has a couple of great takes regarding the ALDS and the Tribe:

Kevin Dean‏@kvnbsbl

In a five-game series, the Indians can get... 40-50%? of their innings from arguably the best starter and the best reliever in their league.
Kevin Dean‏@kvnbsbl

Re: Kluber and Miller potentially giving the Indians 40-50% of their division series innings... Allen and Salazar could push it to 60-70%.
Those are some astute takes. It makes me feel a little better about the (as of right now) match up with the Red Sox.

5 (and KC eliminated)

Really more concerned with Boston and Texas now than Detroit.
What's the concern?  You want to play the WC and let Tex/Bos slug it out in a 5 game series?  HFA would be nice against Tex/Bos/Tor.

I'm just excited the magic number is OURS!

:pickle:   :pickle:   :pickle: :pickle:

AL CENTRAL DIVISION CHAMPIONS!!!!!

Plus, the players were shouting "EFF PAUL HOYNES" in the locker room last night.  :lmao: :lmao:

Love it!  Best part for me is that I got to talk #### to a friend of mine who's a Detroit Kitten fan.   :hifive:      :pickle: :pickle: :suds: :headbang:

Think we can hit our way to the top seed?

Yesterday (and prob Sunday?) - Clevenger

Today - McCalister

Tomorrow - Merritt

Friday - Tomlin

Weekend - ???

.5 game behind Boston and Detroit is 1.5 back in the WC.  Monday is lurking.  With that being the rotation, even if it means nothing for Detroit and the 2 seed for us, we're going to have to go bullpen.

What we needed for no game 162 and HFA in the ALDS:

Toronto win: CHECK!

Baltimore win: CHECK!!

Detroit loss: OH HECK YEAH DOUBLY CHECKITY CHECK CHECK!!

It's nice to see things break the Tribe's way for a change.

So, thoughts on the series? I figure this is going 5 games.
I'd love to see it end in 3 or 4...but I think you're right with 5.  After Bauer settled down, he looked decent.  He didn't give up a lot and his curve looked good.  He performed better than Porcello.  I liked how Francona managed the bullpen and kept the Sox on their toes all night.  Looking forward to Kluber tonight.  He's had plenty of time to rest and reports are saying he's at 100%.  He'll need to be after we went through Miller, Shaw, and Allen last night.  Not much left in the cupboard for tonight, but I have faith in Klubot.

It'd be nice to go into Boston this weekend at 2-0.

Anyone who was paying attention sort of figured Porcello was going to work up high and the guys were teeing off on that - well, that and the friendly wind to RF.

I don't think Miller is gassed; with the off day Saturday I think he could give them 1 good inning. Otero wasn't used at all and neither was McAllister. If Kluber can go 7, then you can bypass Miller and go Otero - Shaw - Allen to finish up the last 2 innings.

2-0 going to Boston would be too sweet but then I remember 1999. :oldunsure:

Did McAllister make the ALDS roster?  I was thinking we were without him this series.  Otero is good to have on the side, and I'm sure Miller will come in and pitch whenever Francona calls his name.  He just has that kind of attitude.  I like the make up of the team this year.  Not only do they have fun playing the game, they are gritty enough to grind out the tough wins when they have to.  Terry has this team ready to play!

I'm debating buying a couple of tix off StubHub for this weekend.  I've never had the chance to get up there for a home game, so this would be a great experience.  Need to clear the schedule and see what I can do.  It's bound to be a good time!   :headbang: :excited: :banned: :suds:

Have tickets to Friday and Saturday games. :suds:
Is this actually proving to be a difficult thing? Are the bandwagonsers out in full force and eating up the 18,000 seats that are normally empty?
