I'm looking at the last month of the season...including today's DH against the Tigers, there are

7 games against Detroit

7 games against the White Sox

4 games against Kansas City

3 each against Baltimore, LA Angels, Minnesota, and Seattle.

With the exception of the Orioles and Angels, every other game are against sub-.500 teams.  At this point, 95+ wins looks like a good possibility.

Curious how far they can take this win streak?  Barring any brain farts, I'm guessing at least until Baltimore, maybe Angels?

Either way it's been fun watching the young guys get some experience and having fun while the team keeps winning.

Window World had a deal where if you bought (IIRC) whole house window replacements and an Indians win streak goes to 15 or more, your windows were free.

With playing the White Sox the next couple of days, I hope WW bought insurance to cover the lost revenue.

Good situation to be in right now.  The young guys are really coming into their own, and Urshela's defense makes him look like a solid Utility IF given Jose's flexibility to play 2B.  Yandy is starting to come around again offensively, but how long until teams start using a shift to the right field?  I feel like every time I watch him get a hit, the ball goes to right field.  Does he hit it to LF?

Is it just me, or has the offensive and defensive product gone up with Brantley and Kipnis being absent?  The kids have been playing well over the last month.  I'm not sure if I'd want to break up that momentum by putting Kip and Brantley back into the lineup.

One thing is certain, I'm glad I'm not making these decisions.   :D

IMO, I think Kipnis is just having an off year. His glove can be substituted by JRam if he's moved to 2B to keep Gio on the roster. I'd probably keep him on the playoff roster.

Regardless, this team is stacked.

Since the Sox released Holland, the Tribe should be able to handle the White Sox for the rest of the series.  The game last night shouldn't have been as close as it was in the beginning.

What do you do with Salazar now?  He's had more poor outings than he has good ones this year.  He looked like he couldn't find the strike zone at all last night.  Do you move him to the BP? Does this mean Clevinger and/or Tomlin make the starting rotation? (Kluber, Cookie, Bauer, Clevinger, Tomlin?)

Ramirez is unreal! He is on fire right now.  Hopefully it doesn't burn out before the Post Season.  Definitely a surplus of riches when it comes down to the roster.  Still enjoying how the young guys are playing.  Allen looked good, and I liked that he tried to leg out the triple.  He has confidence in his game - just needs to focus a little more on the small things.  That is coachable.

Naquin and Armstrong called back up and still no sign of MM.  I can't help but smile and enjoy what's going on right now.  Some bright days ahead, for sure.

I felt like the Tribe had the game in the bag when Lindor tripled leading off the first.

Now 10 home games. Wonder how far they can stretch the streak?

This is a ####### bulldozer, glad I drafted many Indians pitchers and grabbed a few more (Bauer and Cleavanger) on the wire.

The numbers over the last 15 games are ridiculous!  Longest active win streak by a team since the 2002 A's.

Combined score of 109-28
Avg 7.3 runs/game while allowing only 1.9 runs/game
Indians have scored 1st in every game during the streak
Team slash line of .322/.401/.591 during the streak, with a .992 OPS
Includes a perfect 11-0 road trip best in MLB since 1957
Starting Rotation ERA of 1.91, Bullpen ERA of 1.76

All this done without Miller, Brantley, and Kipnis, and 6 games without Bruce!  The young guys have come in and flashed leather on defense and hitting dingers on offense.

To top it off, 538site has the Indians at 21% to win the World Series!  Highest % of all MLB teams!  In fact, they are showing the Tribe as having the best odds to win their next 10 games by 60% or more.  The next closest game to lose is vs Angles, which is 11 games away!  Crazy to think this 15-0 win streak could continue to grow and grow!

Kluber is now #1 on ESPN's Cy Young Predictor

http://www.espn.com/mlb/features/cyyoung

FIFTEEN FOR THE INDIANS

The Indians set a new team record with their 15th win in a row, beating the White Sox Thursday night 11-2. Francisco Lindor missed the cycle by a double, and Corey Kluber struck out 13 batters in seven innings. All in all, the Indians slugged out ten extra-base hits, including five home runs.

When the Indians started the streak, they were playing .552 ball. There are 148 chances in a baseball season to start a 15 game streak. The probability of a .552 team going on a 15 games win streak during a season is about 0.02. The Indians are now a .600 team. The probability of a .600 team producing that streak during a season is 0.25. I’d say that based on this streak, the Indians are a lot more likely a .600 team that was under-performing than a .552 team that was over-performing.

Dre Knott said he was going to the bully on Sunday. Whether that was for a sim game or to work out the kinks I don't recall. Something's amiss; it's almost like he has no confidence in his stuff.

As far as I'm concerned, Michael Martinez can stay signless. He'd have fit in better in 2002 team. There's too much obvious talent for Tito to slobber over the WS killer.

Every night (or next day on Twitter) it's like we hear about some other crazy stat or accomplishment, individual or team....whatever.  Wish I had started compiling them all.

6 shutouts during this streak...lol....and 4 straight at home!  Pitching is just ridiculous.

Pen goes 8 and 2/3 shutout innings the other night....Cookie comes in the next day and gives them the night off.

Indians are the Sunday night game of the week on ESPN. I wonder if they'll actually talk about them or slobber all over the Dodgers.

You'll probably have to let me know since I'll be listening to Hammy.

Fantastic streak to watch!  Now with the Detroit series at home, followed by KC at home - could this streak meet/exceed the existing MLB record?  With Cookie and Kluber pitching the next two days, I think we have a very good chance at hitting the 20 mark.

Taken over Houston as the #1 seed in the AL is a huge boost as well.  Maintain even a little bit of this momentum and the Tribe is looking at a WC team in the playoffs vs Boston or Houston.  Instead, Boston vs Houston in the first round after they just finished the season playing each other in a series.

Overall MLB, we're only 5 games back of LA for overall top spot in MLB.  Besides the Tribe's winning streak, LA's losing streak is just as amazing.  Kershaw, Hill, Darvish - what?!? Turner, Bellinger, and Seager - huh?!? I can't believe the slide their on right now given their talent.  It's crazy how these things go sometimes.

18 in a row!!

Zimmer - broken bone in hand.  Next man up. And there are plenty of them that can do the job.
Gonna miss his defense in CF, but you're right, "Next man up!"

Time for AJax, Chiz, and Allen to showcase what they can do over the next few weeks.

Hoping the break isn't too bad and Zimm makes it back for the Postseason.

I saw like the 4th or 5th to the end and they were really hyping up the Indians and talking about all the crazy records/feats they are breaking/accomplishing.

Zimmer's broken hand will keep him out for the rest of the season - at least playing the field.  I can see him being a pinch runner.

I wonder if that would exclude him from Post-Season?  His defense in CF is better than AJax, Chiz.  I haven't seen enough of Allen to make a judgement call, but assume it is since Zim was called up before Allen.

This is why you never slide into first - ask Kenny Lofton how that went. :hot:

Zimmer's done, no way they use a roster spot on him if he can only run.

Allen has looked more than capable in CF from what I've seen.  That said, we remember Naquin last year.  If the plan is to use Allen on the postseason roster in a defensive sub role he better keep getting innings in CF this month.  Obviously he would be a pinch runner/hitter as well.

Interesting that the postseason OF roster debate continues even when one of the original's goes down.

To be fair, his hand was stepped on.  This could've happened to him whether he was diving back to first on a pick attempt, or sliding head first into any bag.  I wouldn't tag this as a "sliding into first" injury.

The more I read about the injury, the more I agree that he's done for the year.

On the plus-side, we have a plethora of talent we can comb through - unlike last year where we were looking for spare parts.

Bruce, Chisenhall, AJax, Guyer, Allen, Almonte, hell even Santana could take a few reps in the OF.  I'm not including Brantley only b/c I don't think he'll be near healthy enough to contribute this post season.  The guy is made of glass.

Seems to be rounding into shape, though.  Here is what I'm doing if the playoffs started today, all 6 are on the ALDS roster.

RHP - Chiz, AJax, Bruce

LHP - Guyer, AJax, Bruce

Bench - Allen and Almonte

I don't trust Chiz in CF.  Like Peak said, I don't trust Brantley being healthy either.

AJax has done pretty good this year.  I have a friend who's a Tigers fan and he "warned" me not to get excited over AJax.  I saw him recently and he just shook his head and said he's moved on from baseball.  I'm sure it didn't help that I mailed him a "I'm sorry for your losses" card along with a small broom after the last series.   :lmao:

25 man Post-Season Roster based on who I see now:

Lineup:
C – Gomes
1B – Santana
2B – Ramirez
SS – Lindor
3B – Diaz
LF – Chiz
CF – Ajax
RF – Bruce
DH – EE
Bench:
Urshela, Perez, Guyer, Almonte

Rotation:
Kluber, Cookie, Bauer, Clevenger
Bullpen:
Tomlin, Allen, Smith, Shaw, Olson, Goody, Miller

Now as I write this, I see that Kip is going to get some time in CF.  It'll be interesting to see how this shapes out.  I think I'd rather have Kip off the bench vs Almonte, if only b/c of the intangibles he brings to that dugout (leadership, motivation, etc).  I'm sure he can play some CF, and if his offense is there - then I think it's a no brainer to swap out Almonte for Kipnis.

I like Otero, but I think Olson is the better pitcher to bring around right now as your lefty specialist.  Batters can't touch him, and his numbers are very impressive.

I also like Tomlin as the long-reliever guy that you can pull in from the bullpen.  He's good for about a game a series, especially if/when the team doesn't know he's pitching.  Once he gets through the rotation twice, I think that is when the wheels start to fall off.  I don't trust Salazar right now to be that guy.

Let's appreciate the greatness...

The shutout was the largest ever to extend a winning streak of 15 or more games.

The 19-game streak is tied for fourth-longest of the modern era (since 1900), but the Indians have a larger run differential than any of those other streaks.

With a plus-100 run differential, the Indians became just the fourth team of the modern era with that large of a differential over 19 games: (1) 1939 Yankees, +130; (2) 1933 Senators, +104; (3) 1904 Giants, +103; (4) 2017 Indians, +100. The second-largest differential this season for a 19-game stretch is plus-68 by the Dodgers.

The Indians have allowed just 32 runs in 19 games (1.68 per game). They've hit 38 home runs.

They've trailed at the end of an inning just four times out of 171 innings (it helps that they've scored first in 18 of the 19 games).

They lead the majors with 18 shutouts; next-most in the AL are the Twins and Orioles with 10.

Lindor, who hit a bases-loaded triple in the second inning, is now hitting .365/.434/.770 with 17 runs and 18 RBIs during the streak.

Carrasco has allowed zero runs or one run in six of his past seven starts.

The @Indians since August 11:

W/L: 28-4

Scoring 196-73, +123 Run Differential

25-3, 2.38 ERA starting rotation

6.3 Runs per game

59 HR

The @Indians during the 19-0 win streak (August 24):

W/L: 19-0

Scoring 132-32, Run Diff +100

17-0, 1.68 ERA starting rotation

6.95 Runs per game

38 HR
