Awesome. I’ll go down on the field at the very least with him. That’ll be fun just be on a mlb field. Does the rest of the stuff I'm thinking about sound like a good plan? Or trying to do too much?
Right, whoever you are there with can all go on the field.  Wife, grandpa, baby, etc.  After he does the lap, quickly get a photo by the dugout if they let you or with the full field in the background.

I definitely think the HOF's are a good idea.  I'm not sure what or where the library is.  Looked at any restaurants yet?

Like as soon as the stadium opens for batting practice and stuff?

got a cousin who likes the Indians. Think I will send it to him if I get one...
Not so sure on this.  Looks like they are giving away 12,500....I can't imagine not getting one if you are there when the gates open, but really not sure.

It’s a presidential library. Canton, Ohio. Never have been to one...

have not looked at any restaurants at all. Maybe Sunday evening might be a chance to hit something good.

I’ve heard great things about Melt, but I’m not sure if there’s one in Cleveland.

Not downtown Cleveland. The one in Lakewood is close to downtown, that’s the original too. I’m by the one on the east side, prob 20 min from downtown. There’s a third, somewhere on west side I think.

NREC, this place is a Man vs Food type place if you know that tv show. Adam tried the Melt challenge and conquered it.

Quickly becoming my favorite Indian.  Really hope he takes the leap this year.  I think he can.
I've liked Bauer since he was drafted by AZ.  It started because of his "goofy"delivery, but soon learned more about him and how he works in the offseason.  Bauer's work has led me to Driveline, which I've incorporated into some of my travel teams pitching routines.  Some good work being done there, and it was viewed as being the outsider of pitching mechanics and velocity programs.  Now it's been introduced into many teams at the Pro and Collegiate level.  Very smart folks there, and Bauer's offseason work at the Driveline facilities is second to none.  Smart kid who gets into the physics and mechanics of a pitch instead of just "feeling" it.

What age do you coach?

Also, I’m already sick of Naquin again this year. I need Brantley back soon or I’m gonna lose my mind watching this kid bat.

12 yr olds right now.  We can't do much of the weighted ball tosses yet, but their long-toss and basic techniques are pretty good.  I've been compiling the weighted ball info for next year.  All of the info on the Driveline site is impressive.

Yep.  I was hoping we would've traded him.  He had a good end of season run in 2016, but was just bad in 2017 (at the ML level).  He did well enough in AAA that I thought someone may want him.  No such luck.  My concern with Brantley is that even when he's back, he doesn't look right.  His swing hasn't looked the same, and I'm not sold on his defense in the OF.  He's another guy I wouldn't mind trading if the opportunity arose.

Great to see baseball back on TV again!  I know it's early, but the bullpen is already scaring me.  Kluber's complete game was great to see, especially with the low pitch count.  Cookie and Bauer looked good, but the bullpen (aside from Miller and Cody) had me worried.  Could've (should've) won yesterday's game but couldn't hold on to it.

No ####, me too!  We're going to Cooperstown in August.  Should be, hmmm, fun.

Enjoy that trip!  I had a friend take his team last year and he seemed to enjoy it.  The parents were a little disappointed as the team stayed in "barracks" away from their parents.  I think it's a good time for the kids just to be with only the team and playing ball.

We're doing the Ripken Experience this year in Myrtle Beach.  Week long tournament and skills competition.  The boys are excited to go, but again I think it's more that they'll be in a hotel as a team and they see it as a vacation among friends.  Great bonding experience for sure.

I'll be in the barracks with them, so that's my pause to it all.  Not looking forward to that aspect of it one bit.

We did Ripken MB last year.  Didn't stay as a team, parents could rent wherever they wanted.  I had a great time and their baseball facility is top notch.  Saw and played some real good talent down there.  We're not as talented as most teams when you get to the mid point of our roster, but we hung around with everyone we played for the most part.  I'm trying to keep an open mind, but it's going to be hard for Cooperstown to top Ripken.

Naquin is that guy that just won't go away.  I haven't seen much improvement over last year, and I'd have to think the only reason he's around is because he still has options available and can be the literal yo-yo player for the club this year.

My thought he should get used to stopping at the TA Truck Stop in Seville, Ohio on the regular. Maybe get one of their gas cards.

Oh, and get used to the boring scenery from there past Mansfield. :yucky:

Sam Hentges is looking great in High A this year. I'd never heard of him before he started Opening Day this year. Seen him 3 or 4 times so far, and I can't tell exactly what's going on with his fastball from the stands, but they sure do swing and miss on it a lot. It sits 92-93. He seems to lose command on the curveball at times. Sunday, he put in another great start essentially on the FB alone.

Not seeing much in the way of offensive studs just yet, though Conner Capel is off to a good start with some speed and some pop. Mitch Longo, Gavin Collins, and Jodd Carter are solid. Don't see a Zimmer/Mejia/Chang type of upside guy the bunch though.

Keep the reports coming, PV.  Always appreciated here.

Sounds like Hentges might be a guy to closely monitor in deep keepers when you are missing bats like that.  TJ out of the way too, still young, he could jump up the lists.

I have a personal rooting interest in Longo.  He went to HS where I'm living now and then my alma mater OU.  Then he didn't get much time here at Lake County last year.  Seems like a good kid, hope he continues to improve.

Wish they would get rid of Tomlin
Kind of surprised I’m saying this, but I’d give him at least until Merritt is ready. He’s earned it imo. Now if I wasn’t as confident as I am about winning the division, I’d probably be with you right now.

Who would you be giving the starts to?

No faith in him anymore, but I love him and the way he chews that chaw into the ground. Loved watching him when he was on.

Fear confirmed. This bullpen blows.

Its amazing how much fans now miss Shaw after giving this guy all sorts of hell the last couple of seasons.  He did his job and helped keep the bullpen in order.  They haven't found anyone to replace him and now the BP is in disarray.  It is beyond ugly!

Man I’m hoping the Celtics dispatch the Cavs in 5 games or less. I’m coming to town a week from Friday and don’t want parking to be an issue! Potential game 6 is the same day I’m coming.

It is hilarious.  Some of them still find ways to bash Shaw.

So basically we tried to backfill his innings from within, besides a few garbage signings like Belisle and Ogando, and that has failed so far.  Not surprisingly IMO.  We chose to not pay dollar bills for quality arms during the offseason and now will have to pay with prospects...and still might have to foot some expensive bills.  It's risky both ways, so I get it, but I just didn't have the faith in....

McCalister sucks and should not be used in even medium leverage situations.  I was thinking a few games ago about how amazing it is that he's even still with us, seems like he was traded for 12 years ago.  Goody got hurt but wasn't throwing well anyways, who woulda thunk it.  Otero is not looking good.  Olson is a specialist who is pretty much doing his job vs L and getting shelled vs R.

Just looked it up. It was almost 8 years ago we acquired him from the Yanks, August 2010.  He was the PTBNL for Stone Cold Austin Kearns.

Have any of you guys ever used a scalper for tickets? If so, where do they sell at?

I have good seats sat-sun but don’t think I can sit in a hotel a block away Friday while they are playing and not go.

Cavaliers are playing game 6 that night too I guess. If anyone has tips about parking in the area with 2 different games going on let me know. Maybe I ought to just pay $29 for the hotel valet deal idk.

If you're only staying a block away why not just walk to the game?

Unless it's changed since 2016 the Indians usually have pretty weak attendance so can probably just go to the box office. And with the Cavs playing should be even lower. Try the street between the 2 stadiums, might find Cavs fans selling their Indians tickets there.

I will definitely walk to the game. Just have to park my car after I drive 4 hours to Cleveland.

Man..... watching the game now and the attendance looks pretty sparse. I ought to be on tv quite a bit Saturday night whenever they show guys running down the first base line.

Do you guys know if you can get craft beer from the upper deck sections? I might just buy some cheap tickets tomorrow night.

Should be a great atmosphere down there tonight.  And very crowded.  Def pay for the valet, maybe they'll let you only do that for one day.

Not 100% sure on the craft beer....I think if you find one in the uppers it will be limited.  There are a few vendor stands on the main concourse where you will have more selection.

Prospect / Huron / E. 9th intersection is where you'll find the most scalping activity along with between the stadiums.  Check online first to at least have some comps.  And take a walk over to the ticket window, never know what's available.

Just got in my room. Thanks for the advice! A block away can’t beat that. They wanted $30 to park at the garage so I just did the valet for $29 lol.

@Bobcat10 it looks like that area where you said scalpers could be is good place to get a drink and eat something too maybe?
Yes, that's more drinking/bar food.  Which is fine if that's what you're looking for.  We usually go to the Clevelander over there.  Obviously Panini's for a loaded sandwich and a beer.

For better sit down food and drinks, still right by you, is like Prospect / East 4th and all down E. 4th.  It's a quick stroll to see what's there.  Right next to Residence Inn is Barrio which is real good tacos.
