Wow....I had assumed that all the Walmarts were doing what ours were doing.  Both our full on store and neighborhood market had strict entry/exits where they were keeping track of number of people coming/going and all the lines themselves were market 6 feet.  The isles were "one way" and they provided these paper masks for those that wanted them, though I'm not sure how much good they'd really do.  Outside they were spraying down ALL the carts in the cart lines and handing out wipes to wipe them down when you picked one up.  They even had Q-Ti[s at check out you could take and use for payments if you wanted.  That's where I got the idea for Q-tips at checkout.  I now have some in my car for runs to the store.  I just wish they'd support Google Pay.

Indeed, for those not following France: today's figures compared to yesterday's represent a 4x increase in daily new cases and a halving a daily new deaths.  

Every time I see France's latest numbers I hear the recurring SNL skit "What's up with that?" playing in my head

It’s worse than you think. My and husband and I have also gone to CVS *every single day* this week. Yesterday to pick up my asthma inhaler. Monday to pick up lightbulbs for our new lamp. Later today to people-watch.

As part of the next bill through congress there needs to be a substantial effort to inure companies from liability for causing sickness, for pharma for supplying experimental treatments and tests, etc.  I'd love to see a moratorium on all COVID liability cases for the next two years.  But not getting political in here, so will stop there.  

You can just see a whole pile of #######' lawyers rubbing their hands together at the thought of all these cases to litigate and extract wealth.  

 
I honestly don't have a great opinion on when restrictions should be lifted although I'm by nature a very cautious person.  I did get a chuckle out of this (apologies if already posted):

The curve is flattening; we can start lifting restrictions now.

The parachute has slowed our rate of descent; we can take it off now.

 
Curfew lifted after a whopping 3 days in Tampa area. I don’t disagree with eliminating it mostly because officials should have implemented it with all the social distancing policies at the beginning and not after the fact unless justified.

Yes, they just expanded it.  Much easier to get a time.  A couple of weeks ago I caught one at 1AM.  Yesterday there was a bunch available right after my pickup for Tuesday.

Best thing to do is book the time and then see, you can always cancel it.

Good one!

Opinion: The decisions need to be made regionally. The U.S. is not a region. Everyplace is not NY/NJ/CT. This coming from someone in NY. I don't begrudge people in other regions moving on a different timeline. Be careful and be safe.

Yea I'm kinda the same. My youngest is a freshman at the University of South Carolina (about 35,000). I told her she isn't going back in the Fall meaning I'm not prohibiting her from it, I just can't see anyway they can bring kids back on campus until there is a vaccine in place and they all get it. I feel like they will be online for another year or more.

Local schools, don't know how you pull that off either. There are strict state guidelines about who can teach and the building they can teach in. Using empty retail space and unemployed folks to try to fill in the gaps just won't work. How are you going to screen the influx of teachers you are going to need if halve every class? Nobody wanted to be a teacher when times are good (not disparaging teachers at all, my daughter is one, there isn't a lot of incentives out there) and now you'd need to at least double or more the amount to take on smaller class sizes due to distancing issues? You'll have a vaccine before you can figure out the logistics of that nightmare.

Carnival downplayed the threat. They had sales scripts downplaying the threat, late in the game. 

Some nursing homes did not take reasonable protection to safeguard  staff and patients. The nursing home industry in Florida has a lot of lobbyists. Of course, the industry is asking for more protection from lawsuits, but are they ignoring staffing and other rules?

I have no idea what's going on in France.  Over the past 3 weeks it seems like once a week they have a big spike. 

 
The company I work for produces disposable medical products.  As you can imagine we've been busy.  We also have a facility in Mexico, we were just told they are required to be shut down for the next 2 weeks, inspectors are going to be going around to buildings to make sure no one is working in them.  Not good...

She was kinda piling on and yanking Twitter's chain at that point. I didn't see a reason to read any more of her content after that quick peek. The best she has to offer amounts to: "I go against the grain just to do it!!!" "I make people MAD because it gets clicks!!!" Tough to know which way to go there.  We've never had a pandemic like this, so there will be mistakes.  From here on out, though, if companies follow some laid out guidelines there should be some security from frivolous lawsuits.

Double edged sword here....you give this sort of protection and you have bigger things to worry about than shady lawyers.

In all seriousness - why?  The specifics between the scenarios I find incredibly in parallel.  I dont have an agenda, except to figure out the most optimal course of action.

 
My 7-year old boy has had this odd cough for the past 2 weeks.  Like he's trying to clear his throat or something.  No fever.  Took him to doctor as they thought it could be croup.  Nope.  Supposedly fighting off a sinus infection - his first ever.  Doc recommended allergy meds like Zyrtec and Flonase... and an antibiotic, which we chose to hold off on giving him for a couple days to see if he could fight it off on his own.

Anyways, called in the prescription and the pharmacy department girl was nice enough to go grab the Zyrtec and Flonase from the store so I could just drive through.  Flonase was $31  :loco:  ... thought of going back after driving through to return it, but it's on my way home from work so I decided to return it (with receipt, of course) the next day (yesterday).  Was told by masked employee then masked manager that they were not accepting any returns.  Wut?  Apparently there's a sign on the front door (which I obviously didn't see since I drove through) and it's on the receipt (the mile-long receipt that no one ever looks at).  Me in my mask... everyone in masks, plastic sheet inbetween us... so weird.  Anyways...

Guess I should have asked for pricing beforehand, had no idea Flonase was so expensive.  So now I'm stuck with it... manager said "after this is all over you can probably return it". 

Lame?  Or am I being short-sighted?

And, FYI, I've heard it's happening at other stores... no returns... 'cuz of f'in hoarders.  Thanks a lot.

I know its probably too late, but there are generic options for Flonase.  Costco/Kirkland has a product we buy - "Aller-Flo" - 5 bottles for $17.

Yeah, no sure....the business should give you your money back and then of course they have a choice. Throw it out because who knows if you’re infected and it could spread from that package to someone else. For the same reason a lot of these stores have signs asking people to not open the boxes too. 
but by all means pay for something even after they told you your total and then change your mind because it’s more important that your bad decision is fixed by the retailer.

Where in my post did I say they told me the total?  They didn't.  Had they told me, I would have questioned it.  It was the drive-through and you just put your debit card in the thingy when they make you sign for the prescription.

But go ahead and make lame assumptions.

Only thing worthy of reading here is the fact that I could be infected and touched the packaging...

Consider yourself lucky it is only $31.00., My 15 year old daughter had her psychiatrist on Monday via teledoc. He was going to call in a refill for Abilify--she told him what pharmacy we use. My wife talked to him and told him what pharmacy to call it in to.  Did his office do it right? Nope, they called it in to another place my insurance won't cover. I tried to call the Dr.  and apparently they are only using a call center now to forward calls to the office, so I can't talk to anyone. Their physical office is closed due to the virus.

My daughter has two pills left and they are not being responsive--so I said forget it, we will just pay cash for it.  Get this---$1,100 for 30 pills is what the pharmacy quoted me.  I asked about the generic version and it was $850 for 30 pills. I have put in a call to her PCP to see if they can authorize something for us, but more than likely, my daughter will be without her meds.
