(248) 434-5508I just pm my number. All for a good debate. On you to give one.
I love me some cav and count it one of life’s great pleasures to have had late night debate with the man. There is a strong possibility that he inadvertently sent you the number to time & temperature but I’d still call it and try to check this off my bucket list. Everyone should talk to cav at least once in their life.@gianmarco you can confirm with @beer 30 it is my legit #
Oh man. That sucks. My 8 year old son got his vax today. Was good until about 5 hours later. He #### his pants 3x. First time was at the park...
Hopefully he feels better in the morning.

You know only 700 kids in the USA died from COVID.

wtf?
Thats what I was thinking because I never heard of that as a possible side effect of the vaccine.Could just be a stomach bug.
My son had two classmates puke in school this week.
There have been numerous COVID cases in the school, but so far no COVID transmission within the school. Masks are required. Somehow, there are all kinds of other viruses being spread though. My kids have been sick and out of school (and received negative COVID tests) twice this year already. I caught their bad cold last week myself, and am only feeling normal today (even with a few lingering sniffles).
https://twitter.com/PeterHotez/status/1458778724149739521Some leading causes of death in the State of Texas
5. Homicide: 1,653
4. Drug overdose deaths: 2,989
3. Firearm deaths: 3,583
2. Accidents: 10,763
1. Deaths from COVID19 vaccine refusal since June 1, 2021 even though vaccines widely available: 21,000
My point: "health freedom" antiscience aggression = a leading killing force in the state of Texas, more lethal than drug overdose, accidents, firearm injury, homicide combined.
Sorry to hear this. I'm not a doctor, but if he's fully vaccinated and getting monoclonal antibodies immediately, that gives him a much better chance at avoiding hospitalization than people of similar age and BMI who are not doing those things. Exact odds, no idea. After making it 18+ months without any major personal impacts, my dad just let me know he tested positive.
He had been quite safe over the past 18+ months, but had reconnected with a few HS friends, one of whom is dying of cancer. He took a long weekend trip from East Coast to West Coast, got back on Monday and took his test on Tuesday.
Good News:
Fully vaccinated (7/8 months ago), PCP getting him in for monoclonal antibodies today.
Bad News:
High BMI (40), 74 YO, no booster.
I am concerned. Not sure if I should be more than concerned. Based on the above, anyone have an idea on odds he can beat it without significant impact (hospitalization)?
Grabbed his BP meds and a sandwich for him and stopped by his house after work (both masked, I stayed on the deck).Sorry to hear this. Monoclonal antibodies are indicated for use within the first 10 days after start of symptoms.Grabbed his BP meds and a sandwich for him and stopped by his house after work (both masked, I stayed on the deck).
Apparently the area is getting hit so hard that there's a waiting list for monoclonal antibodies and he's on the list for next week. As he first felt symptoms on Tuesday, that seems like the very edge of when they would be effective. More concerned now than I was twelve hours ago.
As a bit of a rant, the above is why I have such a problem with the anti-vaxxers. The vast majority of people requiring invasive treatment are unvaccinated and have caused delays in treatment and harm to the higher risk, vaccinated population.
I'm in the same area as you, my dad lives between Rochester and Syracuse and we're seeing a spike. Monroe County up to a 7.1% positivity rate. Likely why he's stretched out to next week as well.D_House said:Monoclonal antibodies are indicated for use within the first 10 days after start of symptoms.
After first offering it to all high risk patients, my health care system had to limit monoclonal antibodies to the unvaccinated before running out earlier this week. Hoping for more supply next week.
classified as a class 1 recall, which is the most serious type due to the potential for "serious adverse health consequences or death."
There's a map showing where the worst problems are: New Mexico, Colorado, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, and Vermont. Utah, Arizona, and New Hamsphire are doing badly, but less so.Intensive-care unit beds occupied by Covid-19 patients are climbing in 12 states from two weeks earlier, with most of them in a contiguous strip running from Arizona and New Mexico, through the Great Plains and into Minnesota.
Makes sense. Colder weather. Seasonal. This is also unfortunate. Hospitals in Western states are getting deluged with COVID patients again.

Yep. There is definitely a seasonality aspect to this thing.Makes sense. Colder weather. Seasonal.
People get together indoors more, the virus spreads more easily, easy to understand why it spread more. Not sure that explains New Mexico right now, though.Yep. There is definitely a seasonality aspect to this thing.
Not sure if you meant to, but you just helped his argument...D_House said:Monoclonal antibodies are indicated for use within the first 10 days after start of symptoms.

[MontyPython]That’s not a debate, that’s simple contradiction[/MontyPython]I just pm my number. All for a good debate. On you to give one.
Just to be clear, because I had this question myself:This is unfortunate. 2.2 million home COVID tests made by Ellume have been recalled due to manufacturing errors that can lead to a false positive result.
Yeah, my question is what events are going on where deer and humans are that close to each other and the deer livesNew preprint study suggests that white-tailed deer may now be a COVID-19 reservoir
money quotes:
So likely a big nothing, but on the radar. Another weirdness with Covid.
- The study indicates that, between April 2020 and January 2021, up to 80 percent of white-tailed deer in Iowa became infected with SARS-CoV-2.
- The deer became infected due to “human-to-deer spillover events and deer-to-deer transmission” according to the researchers. In other words: it wasn’t just humans infecting deer. Deer were transmitting Covid-19 to each other.
Based on the study, we know deer can get infected from humans and transmit to each other, but will Covid-19 mutate within deer and spill back over from wildlife to humans or other animal species? “We don't know if that's the case for deer,” Tony Goldberg, a veterinarian at the University of Wisconsin-Madison who studies the evolution of infectious diseases, tells Inverse.
- But the knowledge that deer can serve as reservoirs for Covid-19 — even just to members of their own species — is alarming, experts say. “In general, if animals become a reservoir for a human pathogen, it means it becomes vastly more complex to control that pathogen,” Goldberg explains.
- While other diseases like yellow fever and West Nile have seen human-animal spillover, but it’s still rare to see this happen outside of mosquito-borne diseases, Goldberg says.
Kinda wondered the same. My best guess that won't get me a timeout is people feeding wild deer.Yeah, my question is what events are going on where deer and humans are that close to each other and the deer lives![]()

YOU might be the species bridge!!How do deer get COVID from people? I thought this was extremely unlikely to transmit outdoors? Do I need to worry about the herd of deer in my yard every day in PA?
Yeah, my question is what events are going on where deer and humans are that close to each other and the deer lives![]()

Crap. I guarantee my sensitive stomach kids are going to have issues then. Both scheduled for tomorrow. Both have been sick and are just getting better . . . .
Thats what I was thinking because I never heard of that as a possible side effect of the vaccine.
When in doubt bet on pizza or food poisoning10 year old got sent home from school today with diarrhea. Could be a side effect, could just be from the greasy Pizza Hut individual pizza she ate after getting the jab at the Target CVS yesterday. She said her arm was sore from the outset.
The 9 year old boy woke up with a sore arm but didn't even want ibuprofen.
When in doubt bet on pizza or food poisoning
I will definitely take you up on this but if the number is legit. I would not leave it on the site and PM it. Guessing not legit but incase it is my 2 cents.(248)
Will do, you tell the ones that die from getting the vaxx.Tell those parents that to their face.
Gronk would disagreeThis borax bath nonsense isn't real, is it? It's just some made up thing like eating tide pods?
I see you tried calling it.IC FBGCav said:I will definitely take you up on this but if the number is legit. I would not leave it on the site and PM it. Guessing not legit but incase it is my 2 cents.

There was another report of this exact same thing about six months or so ago. No link, sorry -- no idea where I saw that. Just adding a data point that this story is probably true.New preprint study suggests that white-tailed deer may now be a COVID-19 reservoir

This was the first report I saw. Shouldn’t be too surprising. One of the Nordic countries had to cull their entire mink population (a huge industry for them) because they found Covid transmitting amongst them last year. There was another report of this exact same thing about six months or so ago.
