Firstly congrats to the Pats on making the SB again. At least this year they won't be saying its a fluke.However, you seem to have missed the fact that there is still a game to play in this season, and a Pats win is NOT fait accompli. Horses comment about eating crow is probably one week too early. Should the Panthers win, I'd order Mr Horse a large serving of his own crow with a side order of fries.I have never had any ill feeling towards Pats fans or any other fans of their favourite NFL team (although the Cowboys are a close call 
) but the way you are carrying on here is testing my "be good to one another mentality".I won't enter into the whiny tool argument, but I will say this.......If the Panthers win the SB, I hope like crazy Joe pins this thread.

Another example is if fans of a particular team, say, the Titans, made a blanket statement about your team. You guys are dogging Joe for making blanket statements... but from what I read, it says "If everyone you come into contact with a particular team is..."sounds like he didn't say all Pats fans... just the ones he's had contact with. In other words, the classy Pats fans may be the silent majority here.

I'm sure there are plenty of classy Pats fans out there, who celebrated their Super Bowl the same as the Rams, the Ravens, and the Bucs fans have in recent years. However, anyone not a Pats fan who was around here for the off-season of 2001 and for the first 3 or so games of 2002 knows how annoying and whiny many of the Pats fans were. Because of people feeling it took a horrible call (Tuck Rule) to get them to the Super Bowl at all, and because people felt they were still lucky to beat the Rams... then in 2002 when people didn't come out saying how they were the best team in the league, or were going to repeat. I even recall a thread on how insulting it was that Madden NFL 2003 didn't rate them as the highest rated team the next year. Thank God the Pats choked after those first few games and those doing all the talking disappeared until now.Thing is, I kind of thought this was a FBG board thing, that it probably wasn't as noticeable elsewhere. But what I've been noticing is that everywhere I go, I hear the same opinion. The last two nights at two different bars, there were people who said they were cheering against the Pats because they didn't want to go through a repeat of having to listen to their fans whine. On other message boards and bbs's, I hear the same thing.Just face it guys, there were Pats fans who made a bad name for the whole bunch of you. Whether or not it was a lot or just a few, many football fans are sick of any topic that has to deal with how great the Pats are, or that are clamoring for respect for them. I don't know of anything like that with the Bucs, Ravens, or Rams. Threads like these are just continuing to reinforce that annoyance. You guys have a lot of great fans like bostonfred. Just weather this out and stop reinforcing the image that's still fresh in everyone's minds.

I get so tired of this.The only reason Pats fans had to make such a big deal out of that season is because we heard from everyone that the Rams were the better team. It didnt matter that the Rams lost, all offseason we heard about the tuck rule, how if the superbowl was a series we'd lose 9 of 10, and lots of other stupid tidbits. I've never seen an offseason where people gave the Superbowl champs such a hard time.Seriously, if anyone is posting anything about how "lucky" the pats were with the tuck rule or any other garbage from that year, how can you complain about whining? You're just instigating fans to refute your arguments. It's like slapping someone in the face and then getting upset when they hit you back.

Demanding others bow down to the greatness of your favorite team is absurd. Anytime a loud minority makes the an intelligent and respectable majority look bad its a shame.Congrats to the Patriots. They were the better team and deserved to win. Its my guess they'll be favored heading into the big game.
Oh c'mon it's football for christs sakes. That's what fans do. I've been sitting here laughing last night and now this morning at all the people begrudging the Pats fans their moment. That and the cleverly disguised shots by people in charge. I agree with Icon...lame-o.I'm not even a Pats fan but it's hilarious the bickering that's going on. I'll step up Herd. I think that play was either a major wrong call (agreeing with you) or it was a broken play. Everyone knows (including Brady) that he is the slowest (with the exception of Bledsoe) qb out there. So I think it was a broken play because I don't think they have a qb rollout in their book. As for mistakes in game calling, I think there was another one that you didn't mention. On Brady's INT, they went five wide and no back. Smith had just carried them down the field, gaining 6+ yards on each carry. So why do you go five wide on a shortened field? Mistake. And I'm a Pats fan. So I think the Brady run was a busted play (and btw, not a fumble) and his INT was a mistake (the call and the throw). BTW Bill doesn't call the plays. That's Charlie...

If Brady gets the 1st down and they run down the clock, then I'm having to endure all of the "WHAT A GREAT CALL! I am a Pats fan and I admit that bootleg was a bad call. I also think it was a bad call to have 5 wideouts in on the play where Brady threw the interception. They should have gone with a safer more conservative play in that situation and settled for the filed goal which would have made it a three possesion lead.

I think that it was a good call. The only reason that it is being second guessed is because he dropped the ball at the end. The fact that Brady is not a good scrambler is the reason that the opposing defense would not expect it. It is the first time that I have seen that play called. With that said, the Colts defender did a great job of staying at home and defending the play.I am amazed at the number of fans in the stands that complained about the play calling during the final 3 minutes. The offense was just doing the same plays that it had done (and worked) all game. The Colts D stepped up when they had to. The Colts D gave the offense the "chance" to tie the game.The play that I thought was poor playcalling was the sweep call to Kevin Faulk on 3rd and 1. I don't understand that one.

It's always a bad call when it doesn't work. On the INT. IT would have been a TD, but if you watch the replay, you'll see the DB pull ward back as he breaks for the ball. But, it was an INT on the field. On the rollout. Yes, they use the roll out quite a lot on the naked boot. Usually they drag a TE across though. That's what I thought it was. I fully expected Brady to flip a little 7 yarder to somebody. Was it busted? Did the receiver not run the route? Doesn't matter, because it didn't work. Weis is unconventional. On the 4th and 1 in the 1st, everybody thought they were just trying to draw 'em off sides, but the play worked. Unconventional, but successful. Again, it's only a bad call when it fails. But, when the unconventional works, it's a great call.

I was freaking out, and I'm a Pats fan. It wasn't a 'terrible' call per say, just a stupid one. Once Brady saw he wasn't going to get the first down, he needed to slide. In any event, a run up the middle plus a field goal wins the game. Yes, if you get the first down you don't have to worry about a miracle comeback, but still. Just run it and kick the stupid field goal.GG

Why don't you point out all the mistakes the Colts made against the Pats instead of one bad call in the Patriots game. I will take the one bad call against the numerous mistakes the Colts and MVP Peyton Manning made yesterday.We all know you hate the Patriots and are still looking for any negative thing to say about them, but thats ok. Enjoy the Superbowl....and oh yeah, how is your team doing....do they have many golf outings planned???
