At this point I think we need to keep Wade and this staff intact for 2010 unless Saturday turns into a replay of last season. If so, I'd be fine if we get a Cowher type in a surprise move. The WORST case scenario is if Garrett gets promoted to HC in the offseason and we get a new DC.

You might be a little surprised at cost. I thought for sure I could unload my playoff tickets the last time at some insane price and the market was not there like a regular season game. The market for playoff games is depressed because the cowboys get a large out of town contingent and people's schedules are not as flexible as one would think. I usually ended up just going to the playoff games or doing a 4 for 2+cash swap. The big regular season games are as much as 4x higher than playoff games. Really.Here's what I would do. Try to find endzone HOF level seats. They range in the 150-250 range per ticket on sh. That is probably the high end of the market. Those 100 HOF tickets have a low price because you can't see the screen, but you can easily see the screen from the club. The HOF tickets get you access to the HOF club hof level pdfand on the "victory" side there is a great patio that you can hang out on and drink and watch the game from there. I realize you've got kids so getting hammered isn't on the menu, but I flasked it at the game I went and hung out up there quite a bit.
I can see little reason to sit at the 300 level or higher unless you just want to go. Anything 300 or up you might just want to scalp as for the most part you'll just be watching the screen most of the time so the exact seat isn't so important.

Thoughts from last week's game:
-Eagles defense is really feeling the effects of three off-season events: The death of Jim Johnson, Dawkins leaving in free agency, and Stewart Bradley going out for the season. Their run defense is soft as Dallas lineman are tying up the smaller Philly lineman and linebackers, and the Philly safeties don't support the run defense the way Dawkins did. The Philly linebackers or safeties are not covering Witten adequately, and haven't been able to cover TE's all year. Finally the lack of blitzes in the first half gave Romo plenty of time to be comfortable and accurate with his throws. On offense, once again, Andy Reid abandoned any attempts to try to run the ball with Westbrook, McCoy, or Weaver. This made the Eagles offense one dimensional which the Cowboys were able to handle thanks to good coverage, and a few misses by McNabb. The Eagles line actually gave McNabb enough time to throw most of the game, the Eagles just weren't able to take advantage.
Thoughts on this weeks game:
-The Eagles are going to need to get off to a better start both offensively and defensively. On offense they are going to probably need one, if not two, big TD plays from Jackson and/or Maclin, because the Dallas defense is not going to give up many long drives. On defense, they are going to have to be risky and blitz a lot more. This could help stop the pass and the run, but could give up more big plays. The Eagles have to risk it because right now if they sit back, Dallas will pick them apart the way they did last week.
Thoughts on the Coaches:
-I think both coaches should be shot for playing their starting QB's in the last 5 minutes of a 24-0 game. Reid could say he was trying to find some rhythm, but what good is rhythm when you are playing against a prevent defense. As for Phillips playing Romo, when he already had a sore back, what was the point? You may be able to justify it if all he was doing was handing off the ball, but the Cowboys were still throwing the ball. If Romo had gotten hurt, and it ultimately cost the Cowboys this weeks game, Phillips would have definitely been run out of town.
-While I think overall the Cowboys have more talent this year, they have also outcoached the Eagles in both games this year.
Prediction for this week:

I expect a metric sh-t ton of blitzing out of Philly this week. I also expect them to run a lot of drags across the 8-to-12 yd area offensively. They're not gonna run the ball.

I agree with you about trying to exploit our ILBs in pass coverage. They did a good job of that with Celek last week. I suspect Dallas will live with that if they can keep the big plays under wraps.I'm not completely convinced about the blitzing. That was my first inclination. But if you look at the matchups, the Eagles don't have the coverage players for Witten and Crayton. Eagle safeties, ILBs, and nickle backs have a very hard time matching up in the middle of the field.Blitzing Dallas will be a high risk, potentially high reward venture. The Eagles may feel that they need to roll those dice because they otherwise don't feel they are likely to win. If they do pursue that course, it could be a high scoring game with Dallas getting a lot of big plays and the Eagles getting some short fields. Its going to be fun to see how the chess match unfolds on Saturday.

I don't know if it will be close or not. I personally think both teams will score more than they did this weekend. Obviously that'll be easier for the Eagles but after Dallas got going, they kind of stauled late in the 2nd and partially in the 3rd and didn't need to score at the end, not to mention they threw a pick in the redzone midway thru the 1st quarter.
I think Dallas scores in the 30's and Phillly gets either 14 or 17 points.
If Philly can't run the ball at all, they lose. You can't be 1 dimensional against the Cowboys, they're playing too good on defense. I mean, McNabb would have to be super human in dodging defenders and then throwing pin point accurate 50 yards downfield. That's possible but that's tough to rely on.

What happened last season or the season before means zero. What matters is Dallas is playing great right now and just dominated this same Philly team last week. This is not the Philly team that won 2 games in the playoffs last year and this is not the 44-6 losing Cowboys of last year. I say lets rock Saturday and stick it to Philly. I will love every minute of it!

Correct me if I am wrong but I believe in the first game against Philly, they tried blitzing a ton and Romo picked them apart. In the next game they dropped back more into coverage and Romo picked them apart.

It seemed like the other two backs really had more of a flow in the game without rotating Choice in.
I like Romo to play a solid but not overwhelming statistical game, good mix of Barber and Jones and one deep one to Witten or Austin, the Eagles come back and keep it interesting with a late 4th quarter TD but in the end, Suishiahiam puts it out of reach and the Cowboys win it 27-17.

Running back Tashard Choice said he was feeling much better Tuesday, which is a good sign after missing all but one snap against Philadelphia with a concussion, but he will not practice.
The Cowboys will be cautious with Choice, who has passed the neurological tests and will be eligible to play Saturday as long as he does not have any more symptoms during the course of the week.
Right tackle Marc Colombo will practice with the team for the first time since suffering a fractured fibula and high ankle sprain on Nov. 15 at Green Bay. The bone has healed and the ligaments are fine. It's a question of pain tolerance, and that will not stop Colombo. He will have his left ankle heavily taped for added support.
Safety Pat Watkins will practice for the first time since suffering a sprained posterior cruciate ligament covering a kick against San Diego on Dec. 13. He will wear a brace but he hopes to be able to play Saturday vs. the Eagles.
Cornerback Terence Newman has a bruised knee that has caused him some issues the last few weeks but is not expected to keep him out of any practice.

I agree. I think it would be a mistake to bring in a rusty Columbo right now. Maybe bring him in for some short yardage work. But I have a hard time seeing Columbo bettter able to keep Romo upright on Sat night.

38 would be a total collapse. 31 would be a failure and based on offensive output seen there's nowhere near enough ammo there to overcome either of those outcomes.The vegas total is 45 which I find high by 3-4 points. To project a 69 point total a full 3+ TDs above the projected total is just insane.

They were close many times in both contests, and a little luck here or there would make both ballgames drastically different with regards to their outcome.

I don't completely disagree. The Eagles are more than capable of making a number of big plays. The first 2 games, they were limited and we won both. If the Eagles win the big play battle, they have an excellent chance to win on Sat.

Dallas Cowboys offensive tackle Marc Colombo moved closer to a return to the starting lineup on Wednesday by going through an active practice.
According to coach Wade Phillips, Colombo moved well and ``did a lot'' with the first team. Colombo has missed the last seven games because of injuries to his left leg and ankle.
Safety Patrick Watkins, who has missed the last four games because of a sprained knee ligament, also practiced but in a limited role. Running back Tashard Choice, recovering from a concussion, was held out of practice but did go through an individual workout. He is expected to practice on Thursday. As mentioned yesterday, Choice has passed the neurological tests and will be eligible to play Saturday as long as he does not have any more symptoms during the course of the week.

Grantham joined the Cowboys in 2008 after spending three seasons as Cleveland’s defensive coordinator. Nose tackle Jay Ratliff has been named to the last two Pro Bowls, while players like Stephen Bowen, Jason Hatcher and Marcus Spears have developed under his watch. Igor Olshansky had a career-high 76 tackles, according to the coaches’ film, in his first year with the Cowboys.

It's been stated time and again that teams facing an opponent for the 3rd time are 12-7.Hard to beat the same team three times in a single season...game tied late 3rd Quarter, Romo/Phillips are going to tighten up...Ghosts of Playoff Losses Past...I'm hoping for at least a close game, just don't want a blowout in either direction..I have no dog in this race, but I'm kind of hoping the 'Boys lose, so the Giants can hire Wade Phillips to be our DC, next season and beyond..You are a Cowboys fan, you should know more then half the people saying Philly will bounce back are just wanting Dallas to lose so they can continue to hate on them. What happened last season or the season before means zero. What matters is Dallas is playing great right now and just dominated this same Philly team last week. This is not the Philly team that won 2 games in the playoffs last year and this is not the 44-6 losing Cowboys of last year. I say lets rock Saturday and stick it to Philly. I will love every minute of it!

I still don't think a rusty right tackle is better than Free especially when you know they are going to be bringing the heat all game.

Let'em. Romo has been great at making teams pay of late, and the eagles don't have the DB's or LB's to cover Witten or the slot. Besides, that's less people to tackle Austin downfield!

Read an interesting review of the Eagles/Cowboys week 17 game. One of the items noted was that they switched MLBs when Dallas was running all over them, putting Trotter in as he's a better rush defender. But the writer noted that Trotter can't cover Witten. So with Philly, it's a pick our poison with MLB - either get burner by Barber/Jones, or get burned by Witten.I'm thinking they'll have Trotter in there to prevent the run, and try to disrupt Romo's passes by blitzing. In this case I see a lot of outside runs, and screens to make them back off the blitz. Should be interesting to watch.

Frankly, I am worried about the blitz. I've heard a lot of people saying that they didn't blitz at all last week and Romo had a lot of time. The reality is that they DID blitz, it was just ineffective. They were physically manhandled by the line and honestly they have not been blitzing successfully all year. In '08 they gave up 10 TD's off the blitz. This year they gave up 15 TDs. Thats unacceptable and I am very worried that the same will happen again, because as everyone knows, Witten typically owns us anyways. I am not feeling very comfortable with tomorrow, but if a few things happen I think we can definitely pull it out.We need to somehow get pressure on Romo early and often (Cole vs Flozell will be the matchup to watch) which should lead to some hurry ups and hopefully a couple of Asante jumps for picks. We need to be less like a cheerleader on prom night against the run. On offense I think that they need to make a real determination on Westy before this game and either use him and use him a lot, or get a share of Mccoy and weaver in there and DON'T GIVE UP if the first series doesn't work. I won't even comment on Mcnabb and Djax/Maclin. I'll just hope they are on the same page. The last thing that I am really hoping to see is for them to not abandon Celek in the second half, which seems to be their MO as of late; especially when he is really doing well.
Any ways, I think if we can successfully do what I mentioned AND we get a couple of breaks...
