A little distraction? He was porking his partner's niece. That would have been bad news had Batista walked in on that.
I think Quinn's nailed most of the recurring female characters on the show, except LaGuerta, and my guess is she probably at least gave him a handy behind the dumpster once or twice that we didn't see.

Yeah, it was truly spectacular. That's right, it IS his sister - man, that's a rough spot. That might be a scenario in which you have no choice but to jump out the window, rub one out in the juniper bush, and then get the #### out of there.DID YOU SEE HER ###???

really? I dont remember that at allSorry to jump back in but it's actually not right. She used the parolee to trap Dexter initially. After Dexter figured out what was going on, and then set up LaGuerta to make it seem like she was framing him for Estrada's murder (pulling his 40 year old blood-stained shirt out of evidence room)...Dexter then found Estrada (through his ex-wife), knocked him out, threw him in his truck, and got him on the table in the shipping container. Then he had Estrada call LaGuerta, tell her he was alive, and told her to meet him at the container.
And some of you say the writing on this show isn't brilliant...
(I would have no memory of most of that if not for re-watching last season's finale prior to Sunday's premiere)

And Dexter is her prize manchurian...

Don't like that they're trying to make Debra look like some kind of killer that doesn't even know she's a killer...it's obviously Boondock Saints who drugged her, killed the dude and took the jewels.

Yeah, it seemed weird to me that neither Deb nor Dexter wondered how Deb shot El Sapo while her gun was still in the glove box. Neither questioned it. Odd writing.

OK, Dex putting down Deb was pretty freaking sweet.
The whole sequence was odd. The guy letting her live for one. Did she have a backup gun? Deb's just a stone-cold killer now? At least with LaGuerta their was the motivation of protecting Dexter.
Looks like they are setting it up that Dexter has evolved or he was misdiagnosed and he doesn't have to be a slave anymore to his dark passenger. Also looks like they are setting up Deb and Quinn to get back together.
Bet Dexter finds out the shrink created all of these monsters. That she now fits his code. He kills his creator in the end exercising his demons.

That's pretty much the writing on the wall...Dexter is her creation...just like the rest of her Manchurians.
Looks like Boondock Saints drugged Deb and bingo...she's out like a light again and can't remember stuff.
Dexter realizing he doesn't need to be this psychopath she's created and killing his Dr. Frankenstein should wrap it up...just wished it was done a bit more artfully...hate having it pegged pretty much the moment you met this new character.

As Deb ran forward toward the door of the confession room, I thought Dexter was going to kiss her to try and snap her out of it, instead of knocking her out.

I sure hope that isn't how it ends. I have no problem with Dexter killing his creator, but not as the ending. There was a fair amount of discussion last season about Dexter realizing he didn't have to kill, but that he actually enjoyed it and it was a choice. I don't think killing his creator should finally cement that idea for him and convince him that he doesn't need to kill anymore. So far this season he's done very little killing so he almost seems past the enjoyment he seemed to be experiencing last season. There has to be a bigger payoff than Dexter realizing he doesn't really have a dark passenger that he has to feed, or I for one will be terribly disappointed in how the series ends.

How could he NOT be a psychopath though. He's killed a LOT of people with 0 remorse. Yes, he has remorse for what has happened to Deb, but I don't think you can murder that many people without having any guilt unless you are a psychopath. If Dexter is defying given knowledge on what a psychopath can and cannot feel, then the given knowledge is wrong imo.

Wrong assumption by Harry and the Doctor when he was young that he was a psychopath and beyond repair? Dexter evolving as a person from a psychopath to non-psychopath? He's not psychopathic in all secenarios? 2 and 3 challenge the definition of psychopath and possibilities like these are what make this conclusion very intriguing to me.

Pretty sure this is where they realize Dexter is not a psychopath - when they start trying to figure out why he kills, it will be revealed his Dark Passenger is the ancient god Moloch.

Neither did I, but I still thought it was the weakest episode this season. It didn't do much for me - just lots of random stuff like Dexter meeting the neighbor or Jamie not being mad at Quinn for punching the guy when she's gone crazy anytime Deb's name comes up.
It also appears they've completely abandoned the storyline of Debra's gun being in the car of the hitman or her thinking she killed him. It's pretty obvious that boondock saint bossman did something wrong or is being shady.
Anyway, just a lot of filler and its turned into a serial killer soap opera at this point. I still enjoy it but don't expect much to finish out the season/series.

Episode was pretty weak. I know it's always been this way, and I don't know why it never bothered me before, but the Dexter voice-over play-by-play is just getting to be too much.

Wasn't always like that. The first couple seasons his voice overs were clever and witty. When the writing started to go down hill, Dexter and ghost dad basically just reiterate what we already know or see.

There was something especially bothersome about the voiceover in this latest episode. It's stale writing and maybe the way it's mixed made it stand out more than ever.

I thought Deb was going to kill herself in the car in front of Dexter. Just the way she was talking to Joey, telling him to remember that she always cared for him. I didn't expect her to try and kill them both though.
I agree with the complaints about the VO, especially in the scene when he was searching the other serial killers house. Seemed out of place.

I remember thinking the same thing during that scene so I went and re-watched. The big difference is the monologue is just stating the obvious instead of doing the usual introspective stuff. There's a lot of "nobody home" and "it's his dad's birthday" type stuff.
Also when was the last time Harry appeared? It seems they've specifically ended that part of Dexter in favor of the therapy session videos. Seems odd to abandon something that's been a staple for so long.

Trying to fully redeem him from his womanizing ways...it's the humor of this season. He'll realize he's gotta stop objectifying women.
Feels like all the characters are coming to a happy close...it'll probably make the twist more dramatic when one is so sadly lost at the end.
