Ooof, Julie Benz may have been annoying as Rita, but she is phenomenally hot in person. Went to this little hole in the wall, secret stash sushi place last night and saw my first star sighting there (my buddy who lived down the street for years has seen plenty, including a lot of a doddering spaced out Joe Walsh). A really, really tall Keenan Ivory Wayans was pacing around checking his phone and moving place settings around when this smoking blonde walked in and they had a pretty sloppy hello kiss for a public place. Couldn't tell if it was Brittany Daniels at first but the voice was the key for identification, although I'll admit a small possibility that it could be BD. Whoever it really was, she's smoking and KIW must be a happy man

Wife and I have watched seasons 1,2, and in the middle of 3 right now over the last month. Really love the show - my only complaint is most of the regular supporting characters seem very cliche and annoying to me, especially Deb. But I love the premise so much I can overlook it. Looking forward to see how it ends with Smits season 3, and to seeing Lithgow in season 4.

Lithgow was ridiculous in that role. I dont think season 4 was the best season, but it definitely had the best "bad guy" if you can call it that.PS. DO NOT read any season 4 spoilers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think season 4 was outstanding, probably just after season 1 in overall quality. Enjoy.I've been a big fan of Lithgow ever since Garp and Buckaroo Bonzai.

Just called and added showtime, and will promptly call and cancel after the finale. This is one way I feel like I can have some say in keepining around shows I like.

Great first episode, and I agree with the heaviness of it. I didn't really get him murdering the guy in the bathroom.....very out of character for Dexter. I mean, sure it felt good to get the rage and hurt from the loss of Rita but it went totally against his code....it was in a public place and how the heck did he get cleaned up, hide the body and get back to the funeral in time? Did I miss something....seemed like a really big plot hole. Otherwise, great as always. Loved the flashbacks to Rita and Dexters first date.

That was exactly the point.Completely out of character. Just like Harry said, "that was the first human thing I've seen you do"He felt grief for Rita but couldn't understand the feeling, he had never experienced it before. As to how he cleaned it up? Well I'm sure that will somehow come back to bite him in some way.I got choked up when the kids called.Oof.Really tough episode to watch but impossible to not watch at the same time. Might be one of the best episodes of the series..

Right. I thought it was just his reaction after killing the guy, pretty much balling and crying in agony, that Harry was talking about, not the actual killing a stranger part. As for the kids....when Dexter told them and said...."Sorry for your loss"...so dry and stranger like.....oh man....Dex having no idea how to handle that situation....really hard to watch.

Trying to mimic the funeral director...amazingly played

It being out of character and against the code was pretty much exactly the point. He just lost Rita. Harry was gone. Dexter is coming unglued. As for how he could clean up, hide the body and make it to the funeral? No telling really how he cleaned up but he did have his boat and all his gear. I'm sure he disposed of the body in his normal way. No body = no crime. Also, we're really not sure about the timeline and he was late...so there ya go.

I almost felt like it didn't matter - they made it a point to show the place was empty - just Dexter and the guy.

Yeah, they didn't show how he resolved that, so I'm wondering if it comes back on him later.

I didn't like this. He's better at faking than that and he's experienced loss before (Harry's death).

I hope the kids are off the show permanently. Astor is nothing but a cliché.
I wish they took little Harrison with them also, lol. How about when Harrison grows up he becomes a detective and catches the greatest serial killer of all-time (his dad), that would be great ending to this show.

agree...astor was just annoying...glad they are moving on from thatfairly boring episode last night...setting up for some decent ones going forward

Just finished season 4 yesterday, what a crazy ending!!!

I know Lithgow was dillusional throughout but I didnt understand why he called that man all those names by the alley in order to get beaten up, I thought he was luring the guy in to be bludgeoned to death.

Also If they would somehow team up Dexter with Jack Bauer that would be the most kick a@s movie ever

I'm actually disappointed the kids are gone.

I know it takes away from serial killer Dexter, but Dexter trying to become human/manage a normal life is what made him so appealing in the first place.

I'm starting in on Season 4 tonight. I'll be caught up soon. Love this show.
Wifey and I just finished Season 4's first disc. Wish we could stream this instantly instead of having to wait for the discs from Netflix.Love the show overall, but I think Deb doesn't get enough hate. She may be the worst actor in the history of television. BRUTAL.

She is not that bad an actress IMO but just a complete horseface who gets too much screen time.Cant believe she actually married Dexter in real life

I watched season 4 episode 1 last night and wish I hadn't. It was brutally bad.

Great show. I'm interested to see what happens with the Nanny and wondering when Peter Weller is going to show up this season. I think it's going to be quite interesting to see what they do with Julia Styles' character as well.
