Source says bone graft performed during Dez Bryant foot surgery enhances prospects for him to return in around 6 weeks. Team prepared for 8
Agree, good signs, but grain of salt - It's the 5th metatarsal, i.e. the bone below the pinky toe. Probably not a ton of stress on that from walking. It'll be cutting and bursting that will be the real test. We've got a while still....Dez was walking around barefoot in the locker room pain free today. Good sign.
Dez was dropped in my league and I picked him up. If he can come back around week 10(or 13??) it would be well worth the roster spot.
I've floated him around in one league where I own him, but not sure what I would even want in return. If he does come back in Week 7, that would be huge. What is everyone seeing with Dez in their leagues? I've seen him dropped in one redraft. The uncertain timeline is going to be frustrating, but I think he should be back at some point. Is anyone making a move/trade for him?
Depends on the QB situation of the other team and how they feel about their team. If I need a QB in order to stay in contention, they yeah I'd trade Dez for Dalton. But if I think my surrounding team is strong enough and can wait for Dez, I may hold. Was thinking of offering Andy Dalton to a QB strapped team for Dez. Would you take that deal?
Waiver wire has been picked clean. All TD 6 pts. Other team only has Flacco and Kaepernick as QB options.Depends on the QB situation of the other team and how they feel about their team. I am 3-0 and have been racking up points like crazy so far. Dalton is my third QB. Bryant would take over for Jordy Nelson in my lineup.
I would still have Brady and Eli.Who is your other QB? I'd think about doing this if I were you. Worth a shot at least.Waiver wire has been picked clean. All TD 6 pts. Great for you if they accept. If it were me, I wouldn't even consider accepting. I think Flacco is same tier as Dalton so I'm not sure he'd get any benefit other than trading away a likely difference maker 2nd half of the season.Anarchy99 said:Waiver wire has been picked clean. To each his own, I guess. Dalton currently QB3 vs. Flacco QB21 (with no one to throw to other than SSmith). Dalton was QB3 two seasons ago with healthy receivers to throw to (dipped last year with lots of people injured). I wouldn't put Dalton in the top tier of quarterbacks, but IMO he is a fair amount better than Flacco (currently 13 points a game better than Flacco in our league).Great for you if they accept. If anyone is able to turn Dalton into Dez that is an ultimate buy low sell high IMO that they should do without thinking twice. Dalton is off to a hot start and I'll always remember him delivered big time for me in the 2013 championship round but looking down the road this season I like the Dez side of that deal every day even with the obvious risk.I'd go down with the Dez ship before dealing him for Andy Dalton.
You don't have to convince me, you have to convince the Dez owner. Flacco was being drafted over Dalton at the start of the season and has scored highly the last 2 weeks. I'd imagine I'm not the only one who doesn't buy Dalton yet as a tier 1 guy yet.To each his own, I guess. Dalton currently QB3 vs. Flacco QB21 (with no one to throw to other than SSmith). I want this too.Jerry Jones wants Cowboys to use Dez Bryant like Falcons use Julio Jones:

Stephen Jones: 'Fair goal' for Dez to return after bye
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000538894/article/stephen-jones-fair-goal-for-dez-to-return-after-bye
Anyone try trading for him?"Our prognosis has never changed," Jones said, via The Dallas Morning News. "I know there have been a lot of people who have doctors on their media staff and like to speculate on these things, but we've been pretty consistent from Day One. At first we thought maybe four to six (weeks) and that changed to six to eight. By the next day we were pretty much thinking six to eight.
"We really feel like it's a very fair goal to think that Dez will be back after the bye."
The Cowboys travel to New York to face the Giants on October 25, for their Week 7 matchup.
I've had a couple lack-luster offers for him, none really worth mentioning. Just doesn't make sense for my team which is probably a title contender next year (that's the plan anyways). The offers were in the realm of 2016 1st and 2nd. Not enough for my blood.Stephen Jones: 'Fair goal' for Dez to return after bye

Bigger concern than the foot is the QB throwing to him IMO.

Julio is a beast, and this season he's the best WR in the NFL......But lets not forget how dominant Dez has been the last few years. I say his physicality sets him apart from Julio.....Look at the stats. So far Dez is clearly the better NFL WR.Yes, first things first Jerr.MattFancy said:Me too! And Dez is a beast in his own right but he is not Julio. He lacks both his suddenness and his top end speed and as a result is easier to double team and scheme against IMO. Dez is better at highpointing the ball and winning on contested catches but I think Julio's speed and quickness in his route running set him apart.
Why does he keep doing this? To keep morale high?If week 7 is actually realistic. He'd need to be cleared to resume football activities next Monday. That would give him two weeks to get ready for a week 7 return. There hasn't been a single rumor out report other than Stephen Jones that dez is close to resuming running or cutting. It's not adding up to me, but I'm not a doctor
I wish the jones' would just keep their mouths shut to the media......jerry was giving time lines right after it happened.....ridiculousWhy does he keep doing this? that is encouraging if actually true. i added the "week" schedule to the quote.Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones gave a similar update Monday on The Fan's G-Bag Nation show.
"We've got a timeframe," Stephen Jones said. "There's been no setbacks. We continue to look at it. We had another examination there at the end of the week last week (week 4). We expect him to do a little more each week.
"I think this week (WEEK 5) he'll still be a little limited in what we'll push him to do. Then the week after that (WEEK 6 BYE), we expect him to start to really work back in and have a real shot to play after the bye week (week 7)."
~Do you mind sharing what you gave?I don't know what's up with the Jones' mouthpieces and why they insist on over promising on Dez' return.
I traded for Dez before week 3 with the thought/hope that he'd be back in the linuep for the week 9 SNF matchup with Philly. That's almost 8 weeks after the surgery. Like others have said I'll take week 10 but I'm really banking on him being close to his normal production from that point through the end of the season. Considerable gamble that I hope pays off.
