Official Dez Bryant (2 Viewers)

I don't want to hijack the thread but I was just curious to see what kind of trade offers Dez owners are getting and what offers people trying to get Dez are making.

I guess it all depends on how optimistic you are that returns closer to 6-8 weeks than 8+ weeks.

Dez was walking around barefoot in the locker room pain free today. Good sign.
Agree, good signs, but grain of salt - It's the 5th metatarsal, i.e. the bone below the pinky toe. Probably not a ton of stress on that from walking. It'll be cutting and bursting that will be the real test. We've got a while still....

What is everyone seeing with Dez in their leagues? I've seen him dropped in one redraft. The uncertain timeline is going to be frustrating, but I think he should be back at some point. Is anyone making a move/trade for him?

I've floated him around in one league where I own him, but not sure what I would even want in return. If he does come back in Week 7, that would be huge.

I have him and have floated him out there some, haven't really gotten anywhere yet. I think if I can get anyone that's a decent every week start or package him for something big I will, I can't help but worry considering what I've read about re-injury concerns plus the Romo uncertainty. May have to wait til closer to his return to get much value.

He got dropped in one re-draft league I'm in. I grabbed him. I figure IF he comes back after 7, we'll have some visibility into that in the next few weeks. If it's looking longer, I can cut bait. I'm going to likely have to just throw in the towel in week 4 as I have major bye concerns (Brady, Gronk, K. Wright) and I don't carry back-up TE/QB's and don't want to drop some of the guys I have.

That said, my starting WR's would be ODBeckham, Hopkins, and Dez if he comes back...add in Gronk, and I'd be pretty stacked there. Unfortunately my RB's are led by Chris Ivory...

Was thinking of offering Andy Dalton to a QB strapped team for Dez. Would you take that deal?
Depends on the QB situation of the other team and how they feel about their team. If I need a QB in order to stay in contention, they yeah I'd trade Dez for Dalton. But if I think my surrounding team is strong enough and can wait for Dez, I may hold.

Waiver wire has been picked clean. All TD 6 pts. Other team only has Flacco and Kaepernick as QB options.

I am 3-0 and have been racking up points like crazy so far. Dalton is my third QB. Bryant would take over for Jordy Nelson in my lineup.

Who is your other QB? I'd think about doing this if I were you. Worth a shot at least.

I would still have Brady and Eli.

Great for you if they accept. If it were me, I wouldn't even consider accepting. I think Flacco is same tier as Dalton so I'm not sure he'd get any benefit other than trading away a likely difference maker 2nd half of the season.

To each his own, I guess. Dalton currently QB3 vs. Flacco QB21 (with no one to throw to other than SSmith). Dalton was QB3 two seasons ago with healthy receivers to throw to (dipped last year with lots of people injured). I wouldn't put Dalton in the top tier of quarterbacks, but IMO he is a fair amount better than Flacco (currently 13 points a game better than Flacco in our league).

I'd go down with the Dez ship before dealing him for Andy Dalton.
If anyone is able to turn Dalton into Dez that is an ultimate buy low sell high IMO that they should do without thinking twice. Dalton is off to a hot start and I'll always remember him delivered big time for me in the 2013 championship round but looking down the road this season I like the Dez side of that deal every day even with the obvious risk.

I just landed Dez on Saturday in my 14 team redfraft in a package deal. Gave Cam, Spiller, and Martavius for Foster, Dez, and Chris Johnson. I took on a lot of risk but I'm now 3-0 and was looking at the 2nd half of season and playoffs.

Of course a lot depends on league setup, the rest of your roster, current record, etc. but I would not sell low on Dez at this point. Hope the rest of your team can hold the fort and that he is truly able to return and be close to his usual production by week 8 or 9.

You don't have to convince me, you have to convince the Dez owner. Flacco was being drafted over Dalton at the start of the season and has scored highly the last 2 weeks. I'd imagine I'm not the only one who doesn't buy Dalton yet as a tier 1 guy yet.

And when he gets back Dez is a clear WR1.

"Our prognosis has never changed," Jones said, via The Dallas Morning News. "I know there have been a lot of people who have doctors on their media staff and like to speculate on these things, but we've been pretty consistent from Day One. At first we thought maybe four to six (weeks) and that changed to six to eight. By the next day we were pretty much thinking six to eight.

"We really feel like it's a very fair goal to think that Dez will be back after the bye."

The Cowboys travel to New York to face the Giants on October 25, for their Week 7 matchup.
Anyone try trading for him?

Bigger concern than the foot is the QB throwing to him IMO.

I've had a couple lack-luster offers for him, none really worth mentioning. Just doesn't make sense for my team which is probably a title contender next year (that's the plan anyways). The offers were in the realm of 2016 1st and 2nd. Not enough for my blood.

If they used him like ATL uses Julio, with scheme and creativity to get him open then he's the undisputed dynasty #1 WR IMO. As it stands they haven't done that yet but he's still an undisputed WR1 for your team. His ceiling (along with Julio) is unmatched, and we're seeing the results of how good Julio can be when they are planning to get him open, or just chucking it his way in some cases. I can only hope they start using Dez that way.

Me too! But first, Jerr needs to worry about getting Dez back healthy.
Yes, first things first Jerr.

And Dez is a beast in his own right but he is not Julio. He lacks both his suddenness and his top end speed and as a result is easier to double team and scheme against IMO. Dez is better at highpointing the ball and winning on contested catches but I think Julio's speed and quickness in his route running set him apart.

Julio is a beast, and this season he's the best WR in the NFL......But lets not forget how dominant Dez has been the last few years. I say his physicality sets him apart from Julio.....Look at the stats. So far Dez is clearly the better NFL WR.

If week 7 is actually realistic. He'd need to be cleared to resume football activities next Monday. That would give him two weeks to get ready for a week 7 return. There hasn't been a single rumor out report other than Stephen Jones that dez is close to resuming running or cutting. It's not adding up to me, but I'm not a doctor

Would love to see him come back in week 7 but only if that means he's really ready to come back. No complementary injuries or re-injuring the same foot which might knock him out for the rest of the season. I have Antonio Brown and Dez lying in wait to destroy fools in my FF playoffs assuming Ben and Dez finish rehab properly

Why does he keep doing this? To keep morale high?

I wish the jones' would just keep their mouths shut to the media......jerry was giving time lines right after it happened.....ridiculous

Stephen Jones on @BenandSkin said it's a "very fair goal to think Dez Bryant will be back after the bye." That would be Week 7 vs the Giants
Steve Jones seems to have his dad's penchant for talking whatever comes to his mind to the press..... but does anyone believe this, see reason to believe this...

....in other words is this good reason to trade for Dez in and of itself?

- eta - sorry I see this was posted above but it's worthy of continued discussion

Would be great if he is back in Week 7. Maybe now could be a good time to see what you could get for Dez if other really think he'll be back in Week 7. I'm skeptical, but if someone offered me something decent for him right now, I'd probably bite.

yup i'm quoting myself :) only because this article kind of answered my questions on the rehab schedule. http://www.dallasnews.com/sports/dallas-cowboys/20151006-jerry-jones-quick-healer-dez-bryant-is-superman-cowboys-targeting-week-7-return.ece

Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones gave a similar update Monday on The Fan's G-Bag Nation show.

"We've got a timeframe," Stephen Jones said. "There's been no setbacks. We continue to look at it. We had another examination there at the end of the week last week (week 4). We expect him to do a little more each week.

"I think this week (WEEK 5) he'll still be a little limited in what we'll push him to do. Then the week after that (WEEK 6 BYE), we expect him to start to really work back in and have a real shot to play after the bye week (week 7)."
that is encouraging if actually true. i added the "week" schedule to the quote.

I don't know what's up with the Jones' mouthpieces and why they insist on over promising on Dez' return.

I traded for Dez before week 3 with the thought/hope that he'd be back in the linuep for the week 9 SNF matchup with Philly. That's almost 8 weeks after the surgery. Like others have said I'll take week 10 but I'm really banking on him being close to his normal production from that point through the end of the season. Considerable gamble that I hope pays off.
