If you go the events page at pdga.com you can search for the tournaments and see who is registered to play
Thanks!! I was not seeing that earlier on the site. Looks like all the big names are playing almost all three events, with only Paige missing Belton.

Local kid Cole Redalen is crushing it today. 12 birdies in 14 holes. Played a couple of rounds with him in leagues last summer.

McBeast gonna McBeast.

What the hell is Luke Humphries doing???  Big fan of his personality from watching all the GK Pro skins games and always saw him towards the bottom of the leaderboard all of last year. Great to see a guy like this coming out hot

Has anyone thrown the Royal plastic from Lat64?

Holy #### this stuff feels incredible. I picked up the Grace on Friday and I think this is going be quickly inserted into my bag.

I haven’t tried that plastic yet. What does it feel like?

Humphries apparently said before Vegas that people were going to see the work he had put in this year.  Guess he got sick of just being known as the guy with the good doggo.

McBeth looks totally confident with his putt.  That is bad news for the field.

Nice to see Valerie Mandajuana go low to fight off Tattar as well.  Even if I get creeped out by how possessive Mason Ford seems of her every time they do a video together.

McBeast with a tidy 16 down 1108 rated round at the Memorial yesterday.  Don't think anyone can dominate a season with the men's field as deep as it is, but I think McBeth is looking to come back from a "down year" where he was still only a miracle away from winning the Worlds / USDGC double.
He played that entire tournament with brand new discs apparently. You were definitely onto something with your prediction. He was pretty bad round 1 this week and he’s still gonna finish top 5. Incredible

Make that top 2 for McBeth. Nice win for Dickerson. Dickerson would probably be my pick for Texas States as well

Gonna pick up a disc this week. Looks like fun seeing people playing here in Boise. Used to play Ultimate back in high school but haven't thrown one in a while.

Wow McBeth is having a rough front nine. This leaderboard is stacked, tomorrow is gonna be awesome

Went last week to a local place.. I read to get a putter as a first and the guy there agreed and recommended  an Innova JK Pro Aviar X.

Went out today for the first time and threw it around in the open field where the course goes around. After a couple of sad throws, things got better pretty quickly. Had some fun and look forward to getting out there again. It was fun standing at midfield of a soccer field and trying to get it through the goal. Didnt get it but got close.

@jamny

I have been putting and using JK’s for upshot’s for years and love them.
You received good advice to start with putters. I’ve been playing 20 years and if my game is struggling I can throw a stack of putters for an hour and get back on track.

The course they are playing this week is sick. First major of the year. Really want Calvin to take it down.

It feels like a hybrid of all the best plastic honestly. super grippy and tacky yet, firm.
It’s awesome. It’s like kasta’s k1 and Innova’s Star had a baby, and the baby is better looking than both the parents. The Grace went into my bag instantly, see ya Wraith.

I bet Boise has some great courses.  Would love to get a few rounds in next time I'm there.

Heading to Austin tomorrow, hoping to talk my buddies into finding a course and playing some rounds.  Mostly to keep us from drinking ourselves into a stupor too early. :bag:

I'm like a 5 minute walk from Ann Morrison Park, so it's real convenient. It gets positive reviews, especially for beginners but of course the weather has been crap since I went out the one day for the first time. If I manage to get halfway decent maybe we'll play some day if you're in town. Or drink ourselves into a stupor.

Oh, you don't have to get halfway decent to play with me, GB. I suck.  But unlike golf golf, I love every second of it.  I'd play today but our weather is also crap.  Glad I got out last week when it was 80!  Feels like the Arctic today.  Ugh.

you have to be a subscriber to read this.

what was the jist?

I didn't save it, read it for free on my phone, don't remember word for word, but the jist was:

The two best things to happen to disc golf:

  • The Pandemic - Disc Golf is the ultimate social distance sport; people needing an activity flock to the game
  • The Holy Shot - got on SportsCenter, got people interested in the sport, brought some character/athlete recognition to the game
The two worst things to happen to disc golf: same two things as above. The huge increase of players, overall interest, new course being built put a huge monkey wrench in the disc manufacturer's supply chain, basically running their machines 24/7 to try and keep up. Not to mention the pandemic causing shortages of plastic to make discs. Made it tough on a lot of the companies involved.

They mentioned a little bit about the big money given out to McBeth, Ricky and the others, and how these companies are moving into unchartered endorsement territory for them.

He was bad in the first and third rounds (so he won't win or anything), but McBeth threw a ridiculous 16 down at an elite woods course in W.R. Jackson today.  Broke the course record by four throws.  Absurd.

Too bad this wasn't on the lead or chase card for viewing, although I have seen some highlights so maybe it is??

I saw some other notable players shot even par, +1 or even +2....pretty crazy that he was basically beating them by one full stroke every hole.

And interesting drama with Tattar and her daughter being removed from inside the ropes halfway through the last round causing her to mentally collapse and lose to Paige. Also...had no clue she has a 9 yo daughter.  :oldunsure:

Paul had his own camera man with him and posted the full round on his YouTube channel.

I don't think what happened with Kristin's daughter contributed to the collapse.  It happened on Hole 4 and Kristin still had a stroke on Paige teeing off on 18.  Kristin had a loose upshot where she chose to play the forehand Harp (which is her signature upshot) when a backhand seemed more suited to the line.  She overflexed the forehand and had a fast circle's edge putt for birdie.  She ran that (Paige had a tap in for birdie) and ran long.  I don't think the nerves really kicked in badly until then, when she missed the par putt.  By the time she missed the bogey putt, it was already over.

I just got back from Austin, TX and I introduced my buddies to disc golf.  The first sporting goods store we went to were all sold out of discs.  Then we went to ##### and bought whatever we could find; wasn't much!  So to your point, I think the secret is out!

Also, I'm as bad at this in Texas as I am in Oregon!

Personal update. I had my best ever competitive round a few weeks ago. Shot a 967 rated round (with 65% CIR1x putting!!) to lead a field of 20 by 3 shots.  Only to come back the next day and completely #### the bed and ended up in third place. I had a hit basket rollaway 4 putt from 25 feet. I lost 5 shots over the course of 3 holes. It was devastating, but that's life and a learning lesson.

My two goals this year are to finish above a 950 rating and to shoot a 1000-rated round.

Rating history:
Apr-2022 - 931
Jan-2022 - 916
Nov-2021 - 898
Sep-2021 - 891
Apr-2021 - 883

Congrats on a great round!

I have a similar rating and 950 is a goal of mine also.  You’re on a great progression to make it happen.
o
It’s difficult not letting one or two unlucky  shots snowball and impact your round. I’ve been lucky enough to play with MJ multiple times and his mantra is my last shot should have no impact on my next one.  Way easier said than done but a lot of truth there.

MPO should be wild tomorrow, 10+ guys have a shot. Tattar has a huge lead, hopefully that’s anticlimactic.

Got my first ace yesterday.  Nothing super impressive as it was only 156 feet, but I’ll take it.  Sadly there were no witnesses…..

Unlike my black ace last year that happened in front of an entire boys cross country team on a cool down walk.  Of course THEY didn’t know it was a black ace and reacted like you would expect a group of 35 boys to react.  And of course I couldn’t kill their joy and had to fake celebrate on the tee pad even though on the inside I was crying.

My areas Match Play league is tonight.
16 teams each representing a different course.  Teams consist of 7 men and one lady.   You get paired up with one player from the other team and play 12 holes.
2 points for winning your match and one point for your team if you tie.  At the end of the regular season the points each team has earned are totaled and used for playoff seedings.
Match play is an entirely different beast from stroke play as you’re playing your opponent and the course.  It makes for a great dynamic and provides additional scenarios to consider prior to each shot. If you’re up 2 holes with 2 to play you may want to play for par and force your opponent to birdie out to win.

By far the best event I will play all year.
Anyone else have match play experience?

The tour is in town for two weeks!! Already spotted Chris Clemons and his lady at one of the local retail stores. Hoping that a few guys might show up for our dubs league at Pier Park on Wednesday. Thomas Gilbert showed up last year.

Heading out to Blue Lake on Friday with VIP passes. My lady is into the sport so we'll probably pick an FPO group in the AM and an MPO group in the afternoon. Can't wait!

Also played a round on Sunday with @General Malaise at Pier Park.

what's a VIP?  are they charging the gallery?

you should sell grilled cheese and pimento sammys in the parking lot for kicks.   :lmao:

You just have different access to walk the course. I think you can walk the entire course with a group vs. just going to different designated areas to watch.

I’m gonna be drinking that new James Conrad IPA that Bevel is making.   :)

Oh…and just had another run in.

Got out of work early and rode my bike to Pier to get some practice. I bought a new GG halo wraith a few months ago and had yet to throw it. I thought today would be a good day to test it out and maybe break it in.

I throw off the tee on #1 and got to my disc and I see a familiar putting stroke up on the green.  Gurthie and Jessica Weiss waived me up and apologized for getting some practice in on the course. I said no worries….all good and by the way would you sign this brand new disc????  He said absolutely!

My son graduated high school last Thursday. With the holiday weekend, yesterday was kind of the first day of "I can do anything with my life" feelings for him.

I texted him at the end of the day (he lives with his Mom) and asked him what he did with his first day of freedom (college in the fall still). He replied, "Just played some disc golf."

Clearly winning at life.

Just a reminder that sometimes it’s best just to let a disc go.

Also, you’d think that disc golf is popular enough now that a news organization wouldn’t refer to it as a frisbee.
The guy who went fishing for discs was probably trying to supplement his income per another report.

>>"These are people that are down on their luck,” Ken Hostnick, 56, told the Tampa Bay Times. “Sometimes they dive in the lakes, they’ll pull out 40 discs. You may sell them for five bucks a piece, and you may sell them for 10 bucks a piece, depending on the quality.”

on a lighter note ...

i was in my fav bar the other day having a beer youtubing a disc golf tourny, and this couple with two young boys came in an sat near to me.  after a while the parents start laughing and having a good time and i noticed the older boy was watching disc with me, he looked over and said, 'hey thats cool!'.  i knew exactly how to respond, walked over to my bag grabbed a nice putter and handed it to his mother and said, 'let those two fight over this'.

mom, was thankful and handing to her son whos face lit up instantly.  dad noticed and expressed that there was a course in a park near their home in minnesota, where they were visiting from.

yall know the rest of the story.   :homer:

My sister sent this to me and cautioned me not to retrieve my frisbees if they go out of bounds.  I reminded her that alligators don't really enjoy the cold Pacific Northwest and that if anything is going to 'get' me, it'd probably be one of @urbanhack's laser throws. ;)

Can't remember if I put this in here, but I was playing a course a couple months back that runs along a fairly robust creek, especially with all the rain we've had.  Had a drive go left into the scraggly woods, went to retrieve it and there was a guy with his dog just watching 3 very playful river otters splashing around.  How cool is that?  Otters, in a creek not too far from me house.

I've seen herons, bald eagles, snakes and otters in just the last few months.  That's neat.

That’s the beauty of the sport. Every round I’ll see a cool tree, mushroom or woodland creature. Well it wasn’t that cool the time I walked up on the overweight couple using the basket as a support for their conjugal visit but I digress.
In one way or another a round of DG is exactly what the doctor order to fix (at least temporarily) what ails you.

Did they at least motion for you to play through?
